  1. I agree with Paul. it seems amazing what the finished product looks like.
  2. I do the same as Kevin except I take the wire off to expose the blade ends better. Spray with brakes parts cleaner. Dries fast. Works for me.
  3. Thanks Kevin I am going to check into the wood at Hom e Depot.
  4. Thanks everyone for all the reply's. I will check Home Depot Kevin and see what they have.
  5. Thanks Paul I will give them a cal. I have enough for a little while but don't want to wait until I run out. :)

  6. Haven't been on here for a while so this topic may have been already brought up. I use 1/8 in BB for all my ornaments. Two years ago it was $16.99 a sheet. This spring it was $ 42.00 a sheet. I contacted mu supplier this week and it is $ 64.00 a sheet plus tax. I know it is because of the upset in Russia but that's still quite expensive. Are you guy's paying the price or is there something else that is available that I don't know about. I have some stock left from before but it won't last long. Also I just do this as a hobby and am not a businessman. I go to a couple craft shows a year. Should I sell my product based on the price I paid for my wood when I bought it or at the current price of the wood now. Thank You for your input.
  7. I dip mine in Natural Watco Danish oil, let dry and spry them with gloss clear spray paint.
  8. Nice job. I can't paint but that makes me wish I could
  9. Just getting back in the shop will help you heal.
  10. Thank You all for the advice. I agree the world has changed from when i was young.
  11. Hello All. I have been making some compound cut ornaments ( Diana Thompson patterns ). I was going to sell them at craft shows this fall. After cutting a few I realized that some of the larger and longer ones are very pointed and sharp. I sanded the needle point off but they are still quite pointed. I was wondering if anyone has made and sold any of these. Am I setting myself up for some problems. I can just see a kid grabbing one and running across the floor and falling on the ornament. Maybe I should just keep them to look at? Thanks grizz
  12. Lots of ideas. I will probably try the cheap Harbor freight spray gun. With the rattle can I just layed the ornaments out on a 4x8 sheet of 1/4 plywood i had laying around and sprayed one side. Let them dry to touch and moved them to a clean dry sheet of plywood. When dry I flipped them and repeated the process. I could spray about 50 at a time roughly. Thank you, guys and girls, for all the input.
  13. I am with Kevin. I use the mailing peel and stick labels. Actually been much cheaper for me and a lot less mess. No clogged spray tips or over spray. Ebay is a good place to shop for these. If you don't need a 1000 they have 500 for a pretty good price and free shipping. I bought a 1000 a couple years ago and am now ready for another 1000. You might want to buy a 100 pack just to try to see if you like them. If you get back up to visit Scrappile I will give you a few sheets to try.
  14. You guys have given me a lot of information to think about. I will let you know the results when i get it figured out. Thanks to all.
  15. Thank you Kevin and Bill. I will look into the shellac. I have a air compressor so I will check out the spray guns as well. Thanks again for the help.
  16. Hi Kevin, I am stack cutting and minimizing wasted wood. even more so now that the wood is so expensive. Yes I have been rattle can spraying them for years. Have not been brave enough to try a spray gun. May have to upgrade. Whats a good laquer to try? I have raised my prices this year. The first time in many years. I pretty much do this for a hobby but still have to be able to pay for the hobby.
  17. Hey fellow scrollers I need some Input. I usually use clear gloss spray paint to spray a finish after staining my Ornaments. Anywhere from 500 to a 1000. Well as you know everything has gone sky high in price. Is there anything you guys use that would fairly easy and cost effective? I have tried the Danish oil but it leaves kind of a dull finish on the Baltic birch plywood. Any ideas would help. Thank you
  18. Went to buy some BB plywood Today and left the store without any. I checked the price in December and it was $ 18.99 for a 5x5 sheet. Today it was $ 34.99. I have some stock but not enough to last the year. Going to wait and see if it goes up more or comes down a bit. I don't think my customers would stand me doubling my prices. Might have to find a new hobby.
  19. Denny Knappen at Art crafters cannot beat his prices and service.
  20. Very nice setup. I too always have way more stock than I can display. I agree with Kevin you never seem to have what they want or not enough.
  21. JB I use the 9x12 flat heat shrink bags. They seem to work well with the types of puzzles we make. I get them from papermart.com. 500 for $21.46. about 5 cents each after shipping costs. The only problem I have is trying to shrink them too tight and blowing a hole in them ( my fault ). If it is a small hole I just repair it with a small piece of packing tape. Good luck with your future craft shows.
  22. I get mine from paper mart also. I believe they are 8x12 also. I will check. If the are a different size I will you know. I make most of the same puzzles you do and they all fit in that size. I have to trim some of them a little for the smaller puzzles but they work great.
  23. Congratulations JB on your craft show. Nice setup and video. 44 puzzles is a pretty good day. I see you don't shrink wrap your puzzles. Do the customers pick them up and take them apart?
  24. Hi JB. I enjoyed your video of your puzzles. I saw one at the start of the video that I have been trying to find. It's the tree with a star on top and a cross on the inside. Could I ask you where you bought this pattern. I would like to get one.

Thank you Have a great day.
