  1. That's possible Ray. They have stayed tight so far. I keep checking them. I think they must not have been really tight when I purchased the saw.
  2. I had some trouble with my Seyco recently. I finally found the culprit, the four screws ( two on each side top and bottom ) on the front of the arm one side has the hold down foot attached. They were all loose and actually lost one of them. The bottom four were loose as well letting the linkage work loose in the arms. Went to the hardware store and got a new screw, tightened up the others and she was back in running condition. Checked my EX as well but they were tight as I had taken it apart before and must have cranked them down tight. Moral of story it doesn't take much to throw the saw a bit out of whack.
  3. I have a set of Pegas clamps on my EX21 and my Seyco. I have had them on my Seyco and EX for a year and would not go back to the old ones unless the Pegas broke and I had to wait until new ones arrived. Very smooth and easy to operate. I'm sold!
  4. Also according to QTE Pegas no longer sells just the swivel ends you have to buy the whole thumb screw. Pegas thinks that people are damaging the O-ring when installing the swivel ends themselves and then it does not swivel correctly. I have never had any problem when cleaning them or installing new ones.
  5. You could get them from Ray at Seyco or get then from a Pegas dealer they are the same knob. Also Dewalt will fit I am sure but the plastic knob end is curled instead of straight I believe. To my knowledge ( which isn't all that great ) they are the same threads. I know for sure the Excalibur and Pegas are the same as I have purchased the Pegas knobs from QTE North America for my EX.
  6. I agree with Kevin, it depends on what projects you are planning on doing. I have a Excalibur and a Seyco, both have been great saws for me. Price point wise I would look at the Pegas or Seyco. I believe they will have parts and service for you. Or keep checking C/L and find a nice gently used saw. That depends on where you live. They are not too plentiful here in the Northwest area. I have owned a Dewalt and they are good saws also, so if you really like it the rebuild option might be good for you also. Good luck on your choice.
  7. I am Like you Tony I prefer to call and talk with someone in person if I have a problem.
  8. I used Olson blades for years and still have a couple gross laying around. Then went to FD blades which I still use the #1 silver reverse blade. Then Pegas. Mostly use the #3 Mg but use #5 MG quite a bit and a very few #1 MG. The Pegas blades are my favorite but if you bend one it's going to break pretty quickly. I think you are right it must be the way they are tempered. If I live long enough someone may come out with a new blade.
  9. Tony they still work okay. I am still using them with pretty fair success. I am just disappointed that they thought they had to change them. Maybe they could have gotten some feedback from the people that back actually use them the most. Maybe they did I don't know. Don't quit using them just because I am unhappy. I am cutting puzzles from poplar right now. They cut okay. The first dozen I opened most of the blades would not go through a #60 drill bit hole. The others I have opened only have one or two that is a tight fit. The old #3 blades would go through a #58 hole most often. It's unfortunate that they keep changing blades out there I have spent a lot of money trying new blades and when I find one I like I like to stick with it.
  10. You guy's are right I believe they are a hair larger hence the mot turning in the tight corners quite as well. Pegas is replacing my blades and taking them back to mic them, The first dozen out of the gross almost all of them would barely fit through the #60 hole. Had to use pliers to help them. The next three dozen have been working fairly well. I will still buy them and use them. In a short while we will forget what the older version was like. Progress they call it I think. Take Care and Happy Scrolling
  11. Very nice Kevin. Guess I was to busy watching you work I missed the mistake. What blade were you using on that?
  12. I talked to you on here a while back Gary. I used to live in Mo. many years ago and we were talking bout crappie fishing. I knew you said you were going to winter somewhere I just got my geography mixed up. Memory not what it used to be Lol.
  13. Sorry Gary got my states mixed up. I knew you lived in Mo but for some reason I thought you wintered in AZ. Now I know. Still nice work.
  14. Very Nice setup Gary. Nice work too. You still in Arizona?
  15. I also had some bad FD blades a couple years ago. They just were not sharp enough to cut anything. The Wooden Teddy bear sent me 2 new gross immediately then contacted their FD rep and he said they were having some issues at that time. FD has everything taken care of and the new blades I received were great I just like the Pegas better and will continue to use them. I will be getting my next blades from Denny as everybody is happy with his service. I spoke with him a few days ago on the phone and he was very helpful.
  16. Man that looks very nice Ray, a lot of work but a very nice job
  17. Very nice work Jim. I still have 16 years to go. Maybe I should make one now because I will probably be to decrepit by then to make it. Lol
  18. It's not for everyone but I do much the same as Rolf. I use an 18 gauge nailer and 1/4 in brads for 5 layers of 1/8 BB and nail the corners, then bend over the excess with a small hammer and good to go. I can do a lot of these in a short time frame.
  19. I will still buy them I just wished they would have said something about changing their product or marked their packaging New Style or something. I agree Norn the #1 is a little flimsy in thicker wood. We will get through and after a while probably forget they had the old style. Lol
  20. Kevin is probably right that they have been out a while. I purchased my 2 gross April 2019 and they were the old style. I purchased 2 gross October 2019 and they are the new style. I am sure we will get used to them as they are what we can buy.
  21. Sorry I didn't get better pictures. The ones I took with my phone clearly show the differences. I am not smart enough to get them from my phone to here. There is a much larger gap between where the regular teeth end and the reverse teeth begin on the old style blade versus the new ones. Also the old blade has six less regular teeth than the new one. I have been using the new ones the last couple days and they are usable but still not the old blade in my opinion. the Pegas rep texted me yesterday and wanted replace my #3 blades with something else and I would send these back to the factory to be checked out. I didn't need anything else as I wanted #3. He said he would replace the 2 gross I have with some more #3 and send these back to the factory. Did not confirm today that was happening. We will see.
  22. when you find out how many you have to order to get a new saw let me know Kevin . Lol. I will continue to use them as well. Like Denny said I don't believe they turn as nice in a tight corner. Who knows maybe something else will come out in the near future.
