  1. Thank you guys for the information. I believe I will give the Danish oil a try. Sounds easy. I will let you know how it turns out.
  2. Thanks Kevin, is the Danish oil expensive and do you buy it by the gallon? I will try to add a picture of some ornaments as soon as I figure out how to get from my phone to here.
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions. It's just a hobby. I can't shoot archery anymore and fishing here is terrible so this is what I do. Been doing it 20+ years. I sell enough to replenish my supplies and give many away and have several leftovers each year. As long as I can make enough money to buy all the wood, blades and everything else I need I'm happy. I don't count the cost of my saw itself as I would spend more than that on archery and fishing goodies.
  4. I am curious on how you how you folks finish your Baltic birch Ornaments. I make about 1500 or so a year of 1/8 inch Baltic birch Ornaments. I stain them with a natural stain and then use a clear spray paint to finish then. Is there something easier and cheaper to get the same results. The spray paint is quite expensive for that many ornaments. I didn't use the Deft because it is twice the cost. If you have any ideas let me know.
  5. sales were down here a bit as well Scott. I heard the same quote. I bought your puzzles or ornaments last year and really love them. I think that's just part of the craft show gig. There are always new people moving in.
  6. I use Pegas #3 MG and FD #1 silver reverse. I cut a little of everything and have no blade breakage unless I put a kink in the Pegas then it will eventually break there. I even cut 3/4 poplar with the FD #1 silver reverse. Its not fast but it cuts fine and tracks very well. I hope you find a solution to your problem.
  7. I go through several 5x5 sheets of BB a year. I just sand it like Kevin said then use the clear shelf liner, no problem with any lifting. In my opinion much less messier and quicker than a lot of other options and I have tried them all. Good luck.
  8. Congratulations, great job and setup.
  9. What a gorgeous piece of work. I wish I was that talented. I know the Excalibur and the Seyco will cut metal as when talking to Ray at Seyco he said he guys cutting metal on his saws. I don't know much about the Canadian exchange and shipping. Possibly find a nice used one on craigslist and have it shipped to you. Good luck and I hope you find a saw.
  10. great job. gotta make more sawdust now.
  11. Well done Paul. Much better than I could do.
  12. Wish you had told me that before I ate to much. Happy thanksgiving everyone.
  13. Great video Scott. Thank you for sharing.
  14. I have a 2010 EX also. like Ray I am curious to see a picture of what you have.
  15. Hope you sell out!
  16. Hi Paul. Now I see Denny's specials. I could have saved about thirty bucks if I had seen that sooner. Plus gave a forum guy some business. Maybe next time. As I said everything is on sale after I buy it. I always buy high and sell low. Maybe that will teach me to read a little better. I saw something posted but it was vague and I did not research it. Dumb me.

  17. I hope so too. I ordered them before I saw the post that they were on sale. Couldn't find where they were on dale though. Oh well it's only money right. I like QTE's service. They were $84.95
  18. I just ordered my second set of Pegas blade clamps from QTE yesterday. I have a set on my Seyco and will be putting these on my EX. Love them.I also ordered a couple gross #3 modified geometry blades and a couple sets of swivel ends for the thumb screws. Richard said that Pegas is discontinuing the swivel ends. You will now have to buy the thumb screw if you need a new swivel end. Richard said that Pegas thought that people were not getting the swivel ends in the thumb screw correctly and damaging the small O-ring therefore it would not work correctly and cause hockey sticks on the blades or other problems. Swivel end $2.95 new thumb screw $6.95. I have used the Seyco swivel ends in the Pegas thumb screw and they fit just fine for me. QTE I love ordering from them. Richard likes to visit and no sales pressure. Quick service.
  19. What Ray said is the correct way. Cover your wood with packing tape or blue painters tape the apply your pattern with glue or whatever you use. I use clear shelf liner from Walmart with great results. .
  20. Glad you had a good show. Hopefully you will get better and be able to attend more shows this fall.
  21. I have a EX21 and a Seyco ST21 both great saws. My Seyco is the newest and I use it the most. Pegas would be a good choice also. They are basically all the same mechanism on the saws. It would be buyer preference. Don't think you could go wrong with The Pegas or the Seyco. I had two new Jet saws both of the ones I had vibrated so bad I couldn't use them. At that time customer service was not so great. I did like that top clamp though. I am a bottom feeder so the bottom clamp didn't bother me other than taking time to use their system to change blades. It was a little slower than regular blade clamps. Still the same parallel system as the Seyco and pegas. Good luck with your choice.
  22. Hi Dave you have great looking project display at your craft show. It looks like you have a Harley puzzle there. Can I ask you what blade you used to cut the wheel spokes with. I have cut several Harley puzzles but seem to always have aa little blow out in a few spokes on the bottom. The top is fine. I have sold them all and no one complained but I know it's not quite the quality I would like.My blade is square . Just thought I would check to see if you have the same problem.

    Thank you

Those spokes a bitch. I increased the size of my pattern quite a bit.  I have the best luck making them out of cherry because of the tight grain. Oak and poplar doesn't work for me. I also leave a lot more of the spokes connected an drill more holes. Every time I cut more I swear no more. Good luck.

That's what I was wondering is if you increased the size of the pattern. Bitch is right. I have been leaving all the spokes connected. Helps a little. I keep saying no more as well, but they sell well. Probably because I sell them so cheap. I am using poplar and a number 58 drill bit. Thank you for replying.  I will keep experimenting or quit making them!

  23. Very nice work
  24. Excellent work Dave. Nice setup as well. I like the racks you have to put your plaques and pictures on. Glad you did well. grizz
