  1. Jim, I have an old Bank Card next to the saw and use that. They are perfectly square. Another method i used to use was a small clear plastic protractor. Very easy to use as you can see through it and line the blade up spot on.

Cut the scenes and characters from 6mm MDF. Cut a 6mm slot in 42 x 19 pine (Ex 2 x 1) in the old money.
  3. I use a sanding mop from Klingspore and their Mac Mops
  4. Very nice, They are sure to be a stand out on the Xmas table.
  5. At last I cut something new, worth posting the pics not the best. I used my phone in bright light It is not a brag I cut this nativity set and primed it so that the kids at St Mary's Primary School, can bring it to life with a bit of colour.
  6. I knocked one up with frames made from 40 x 19 pine. Covered them with a white plastic from a cheap table cloth and bought a small white blind to use as a back drop. Got three LED Daylight flood lights with clamps on them, One for each side and one for the top. Works a charm.
  7. Excellent work and pattern. I love the Western themed stuff.
  8. Nice one Peter. Love the colour. I often use stencils for inlay work.

I finally got of my behind and did some work in the shed, worth posting. The letters I have left over from when I used to make and sell these.I probably have more then 100. My Daughter picked out the name, for a friends baby and I had to make VW to pull it. Managed to find my old jigs and patterns and rather enjoyed it. I made three VW's so a couple spare. I had a steam engine and a truck also to pull the names.
  14. Here in OZ, I believe it is called Turps (Mineral Turpentine for those who have the time) I always have a litre or two available as it can be used to thin and clean up oil based paints and clean the brushes. Also use it to thin linseed oils for the 1st couple of coats when applying to outside projects and tool handles etc. Also used to thin oil for use on sharpening stones and to clean up dirty or oily tools and remove stickers etc. I also use it to make my own wax 1/3 turps-1/3 linseed oil-1/3 bee's wax
  15. Very nice Denny. They are great hits, I made heaps many years ago and they sold well. Haven't done any for quite a while now. @ben2008 I have about 20 of those musical movements. I thought they would be a great idea, unfortunately they are not large enough to accept our 50c piece. It was great idea while it lasted
  16. Ben, I'd have to agree with you about Makita electric tools. I have a Makita planer, Router, Laminate trimmer,3/4" Impact drill and all are about 40 years old and used quite a bit, as I am a Cabinetmaker tradesman. However their machinery seems to be just rebranded chinesium.
  17. New Ray, That is why I was pretty surprised to see that two companies are now offering Ex type saws. If I wanted a Makita , Ryobi or Wen, no problems I think the population and the lack of interest in these types of crafts are a big reason. Plenty of these, with a myriad of brands
  18. No mate. This is the 1st time I have found any medium quality saws available in Oz for about 20 years, with the exception of the "Carbatec branded ones, which I think their quality is pretty dubious. Many years ago there were a few Dewalts available, but only for a very short time. I got my Dewalt from the US, when our dollar was a little better than yours. (Shows how long ago that was ) My EX21 was sent direct from Taiwan by the Canadian company in response to the lack of service from the Aussie dist. The only saws that are widely available are the generic Chinese under wearing coats of many colours.
  19. Thanks Wayne, I think I may just have to email them and ask where the saws are made.
  20. Great stuff. I used to make quite a few bob from name puzzles very similar.
  21. G'day all, Was just having a look at available saws in Aust. The only reasonably decent saw for many years has been the Carbatec (re branded Excalibur ). I purchased a real EX21 from this company years ago and it was terrible, the only thing worse was their service. Every once in a while I go on a bit of a fosic around to see if any reasonable saws have become available and have found a couple. (Wonders never cease ) Just Tools has the black excaliburs, not sure where these are made? https://www.beyondtools.com/?orderby=price-desc&paged=1&s=scroll+saw&post_type=product&type_aws=true&aws_id=1&aws_filter=1&awscat=Form%3A1+Filter%3AAll and JB Tools has the 22" Jet. https://au.jbtools.com/jet-727200b-jwss-22b-22-inch-scroll-saw-with-foot-switch/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIz5Cr8b3G8QIVbNOWCh3W9AxKEAQYCCABEgLgAvD_BwE Looks like an EX. try hard with a few different features. Have any of you Ladies or Gents had any experience with these specific types ? I have an EX21 (Taiwanese) with Pegas clamps and love it, and a Dewalt which has seen better days, but is used for heavy work. Cheers
  22. Nice job. There can never be to much of the Duke. I like the frame as well.
  23. and it doesn't matter how long you have been scrolling or how many blades you break, you will still jump when the next one gives up the ghost
  24. Super cutting of a great character in a fantastic show. I have seen it a few times along with the spin-offs Although I love reading I must hang my head in shame and say I have not read the books.
  25. Amazing the bloke on the buzzer has all his fingers. No guard and the circular saw just spinning around They do a lot with very little.
