  1. I have a compressor and use spray guns. They may of improved these "Airless" guns by now, but I have never had much luck with them in the past and considering the cost of decent compressors these days that's the way I would go. Also noting that a compressor allows the use of other tools like nail, pin and staple guns, Tyre inflaters and blowers etc. I almost 100% of the time use lacquer, either automotive clear or that designed specifically for wood. I have tried water based but it does nothing for me, considering the principle reasons for finishing timber. 1 to protect the item. 2 enhance the look. Lacquer dries quickly, cuts back easily, and you can rapidly apply extra coats to improve the depth of finish. Finishing is a vital part in the completion of a piece, just like sanding, designing. cutting and assembly etc so can not, should not be, looked upon as just a quick necessary step to get you item out the door.
  2. Great gifts. Beaut paint job. Smooth.
  3. Super sweet Barb. I have looked at many patterns of Ying and Yang cats. Seeing yours "in the Flesh" may just be the incentive I need to cut some.
  4. Very nice
  5. Thanks Norm. WE got it back from the Council, after the street party and surprise, surprise it was still intact I will now just add some aluminium angle around the bottom of the base as it was chipped out from where it had been dragged, and some casters under it. It can than be used by the school every year.
  6. Here is the completed one that went on show.
  7. I would have to agree with Frank here. Any of the "Sticky" type hanger tend to become permanent after a while and can severely damage your wall when being removed. They have a knack of pulling paint of, with them. My go to is the Gyprock style hangers, they only leave a very small pin hole when removed.
  8. The layer thing is exactly the way I do it Charley. That is main reason I have never upgraded to Windows 10, because I am quite comfortable with "Paintshop Pro" and Windows 10 does not support it I also make good use of Microsoft Publisher as it is easy to scale and measure patterns etc.
  9. They sure did Marg. We had about 6 kids from each class place X number of "Baubles" on the tree. I had to go around, on Thursday, and put a screw in everyone as the kids were a bit slow and the hot-melt glue had started to cool on 90% of the "Baubles" before they got them stuck. As I was wheeling it into the undercover area they dropped like autumn leaves
  10. Some super nice puzzles namunolie. Great pics of your travels. Are you travelling alone? Looks like a nice set up for camping. Hurry up with that tree or there will be lots of dead spots on the lawn
  11. Perhaps there is something here you can use of modify https://www.google.com.au/search?q=rooster+stencils+printable&sxsrf=AOaemvKr4lJkDuelVAcfSDv4PXhueeUrjA:1637735428502&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjBm87zr7D0AhXJ7XMBHX91COwQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1760&bih=832&dpr=1.09
  12. G'day all, The kids stuck their "baubles" on the tree today. I cut the circles and painted them white and the kids decorated them. They used hot melt glue, so I will have to place a screw in each one to stop them falling of. Would of used super glue but I reckon we would of ended up with a few nippers stuck to tree amongst the decos The local Men's shed made 14 trees from ply and gave one to each school to decorate and paint. May add a little tinsel, we'll see what the boss thinks.
  13. Thanks all. I took some pics of the tree today, will post later cheers.
  14. The tree is 99% finished. Took some pics today. Will post them later thank you
  15. Decos short for decorations. What we call Tree ornaments.
  16. Very nice Eric. Great pieces
  17. Quick Must only take seconds for you knock out a Christmas deco Dick Nice job mate
  18. Just completed the star to go on top of the Xmas tree and some decos to go with it. The star is double sided. I have given the deputies and office staff a decoration. Will take a pic of the tree when completed. It is going to be used at "The lighting of the Xmas Tree"street party on the 4th. Cheers all
  19. Top notch work there. Love the colours.
  20. Took a bit of mucking around, but I did manage to open it. Great puzzle for nippers.
  21. No wonder you have been together for so long with that sort of love, A great gift and sentiment Dick
  22. A nice selection Ralph. Kept you busy!.
  23. Just a touch of green here Nice job especially with the Elvis cutting and pretty cool being able to photograph it at Tupelo.
  24. Very nice Eric. I like a little colour, but in this case I think a couple of coats of clear would make it pop. If you decide to use a stain, make sure that it is sanded really well with no scratches as stain will show up every little fault.
