  1. I promoted Captain Morgan to Admiral considering the good job he did in keeping me sane during 2020
  2. Good stuff Roly I've been wanting to make some of them for a while now, just have to get my arse into gear and make a start on my wish list.
  3. Beautiful mate.
  4. I used to make my own mate. When I started selling the stuff and it got popular I could my self spending 24/7 in shed just making wheels so started buying them, in bulk. The first things I made I used a hole saw, cut them out, then I would thread them on a bolt, chuck them in the drill press and sand and bevel them. 6mm dowels for axles on the small stuff and 10 mm on the slightly larger.
  5. The like button is not good enough for this piece. I love it. Well done
  6. Have ago at one of these Tony. When I made them, I couldn't keep up with people wanting them for 1st Birthdays. The War Office was the biggest customer, whenever we had a niece or Nephew it was, " John do you have the letters to make up xxxx" The base is about 100mm long on the letter carriages, and made from 40 x 19 pine. The letters are cut from 75 x 19 pine. You don't have to have an engine pulling the carriages, I also had a truck and a Volkswagon beetle. Painted with household acrylics. Also a couple of "Wobblers" a dog and crocodile. I also did a cat and cow Have fun mate.
  7. You sure have been busy.
  8. Impressive piece Ken.
  9. I have seen them, on a TV show or something, never in the flesh. Actually they'd hurt like hell in the FLESH
  10. Ripper job Les, on both the bird and the video mate.
  11. Nice cutting of a nice pattern mate. Well don Kev.
  12. Wooden toys are the best. Those with additional automation are the absolute best. love it.
  13. I also find that the videos posted in the group, in general, do a lot of buffering. Maybe when you load videos to youtube or facebook etc, they are automatically optimised for play back, and not on sites like this. Alternatively the resolution (very high) that the video's are taken and uploaded in required a more band width then is available. Just thinking out loud.
  14. Some good looking cars Edward.
  15. One of the reasons I never borrow tools, I learnt my lesson very early on. I borrowed a sander from mate, when tools still cost a lot of money. This sander was pretty old and had seen a lot of work and it decided to give up the ghost while I had it. I bought a replacement sander, same brand, just a millennium newer, finished the job and gave it to my mate, along with the cactus one. I was out about $45 in mid 1970, still had jack sh$t and my mate had a new sander. From that point on I persevered with what I had or until I could afford to purchase what I needed. The opposite is also true, do NOT,under any circumstances ask to borrow a tool from me, because the answer will be NO.
  16. Loved the tour. It's nice to remember people. I have some of my Grandfathers tools and they always remind me of him whenever I use them. Keep on Keeping on.
  17. I have three of those Frank and a couple of the spring steel ones. As @Scrappile says, those wind up handles sure can spin at a rate of knots and they don't do the knuckles much good The simplest method of clamping, holding a Mitred frame or even a chair or table carcase together is to use a piece of string (Cord) and 8 small blocks of wood. Tie the string around the frame, it does not have to be tight, Place two pieces of wood in the centre of each side of the frame. then just slide the them out towards the corners. The beauty of this old, tried and true method is you can alter the tension on any piece/ corner you please.
  18. Good stuff Charlie. I have a Kangaroo that does the same thing. Not sure if this will work on you walkers, but when I was kid, before dirt, In the Weeties packets they had little plastic horses (Neddies) that you put together, like a very simple Airfix kit. They came with a weight (A Sheriffs Star) which you ties on to Neddies collar with a piece of cotton. By hanging the star over the edge of the table Neddie would wobble his way across the tablel until he got to the edge and stop. I'll be buggered, I looked for a pic of the Weeties packet and it happened to have the walkers on it. You never know your luck in the big city
  19. I have a Dwalt sliding compound mitre saw, 255mm (10") and have it for close to around 10 years. It has an electric brake which is brilliant. As for the centre holes in the blades you can get bushes to make them fit just about any arbour hole.
  20. Very nice, Heldas' patterns always do that to me. I look at one and think, that's not to bad, not too many holes, until I start drilling then it's another story
  21. Thanks Irene, Yes I made the frame. I lacquered it with full gloss and the actual portrait with 30% gloss.
  22. Just stumbled upon this site. It may be old news to some. I have not had a good peruse as of yet, but there seems to some interesting and simple patterns. https://suncatcherstudio.com/patterns/
  23. Finally got some blue felt and finished of the 2nd Truck portrait by Sam Custodio. Cut from 4mm hoop pine ply, felt backer on 3mm mdf, framed with pine stained walnut. A3 size
  24. A little ripper Karl. I do like making boxes.
  25. That makes it doubly impressive being an A4, I would of chickened out and printed it at A3 at least Beautiful
