  1. He's sure to put a smile on everyone's face Les.
  2. Super work Dick. I love Sam's patterns
  3. Nice looking piece and is sure to be a hit with the Father inlaw
  4. Very nice looking cutting. As for the BLO put it back, no point in chucking good stuff.
  5. Just confirming that you are "all Heart" Ray.
  6. Beautiful. Great work all around. Cutting, frame and presentation are all excellent.
  7. If you have a disk sander Ray, you can make circle jig for that, the same as the band saw. I had one when I made 3" and bigger wooden wheels.
  8. Great idea, I once saw a frame like that of a coping/ fret saw fitted with sand paper. It would be ideal for sanding inside cuts etc.
  9. Great memento Dick
  10. Ripper job Steve. Love the colours.
  11. A border collie story. Once upon a time, many many years ago, my Dad was working in an orchid. He heard a dog yelping and and bloke yelling so went to investigate. Well this mongrel man was giving the poor old dog a hiding so Dad gave him one and took the dog. We named her Trixie and if ever there was a faithful dog she was it. She used to help round up the cattle and sheep and play with us kids until she heard a car coming down the road in the evenings. She would then run to the gate and wait for Dad to get the car through and jump in the front with him. She would follow him everywhere while he was home. And when she could she'd go to work with him. A great dog and she had some beaut pups over the years.
  12. Brenda, have a shot at fixing it, you have nothing to lose. The way I would go about it would be to split the face veneer of a piece of scrap ply. Then take my time, cutting and shaping until it fitted in the damaged space. If you are going to polish it with clear, no amount of putty, filler etc will hide that. Good luck
  13. Thanks all, This frame is quite popular on Western type cuttings. It's a bit more work than a standard mitred frame but pretty easy to do. I cut the pieces to length, mark out and cut half-lap joints by setting the blade on the table saw at 1/2 the thickness of the timber. I then use the wheel on my belt sander to texture the face edges. Glue the frame together and cut the rebate in the back with a router.
  14. A nice cutting. I have just got to agree with you about those Xmas movies, I always find something more exciting to do, even if it's just cutting my toe nails.
  15. Took this one out of my standard frame and made a "Colonial" frame for it as per customers wishes. I can't remember who made the pattern.
  16. I almost always convert patterns to "Red Line" with light grey infill.. I use Paintshop pro, which I have done for years. Text I design in MS Publisher and make it Red line. When I did my 1st pattern many years ago, the ease it made in cutting was remarkable.
  17. I used to price mine on the degree of difficulty and timber used. Simple cuts from ply $5 to complex $10. Solid timber $10 to $20 (those with brass photo frames inserted.)
  18. Have never made any of their stuff, however I did use to make lots of toys. I have seen a couple of videos on people making those, however I think that a lot do not fit into the toy category because of the number of pieces and the the delicate nature of them. More as a model. They do look intriguing though.
  19. Excellent piece, both the cutting and pattern.
  20. Really nice cutting Dick. Border collies are fantastic dogs.
  21. Nicely designed and cut Charlie.
  22. Nice, But I'd keep falling over trying to cut it.
  23. You never just "Scroll" Kevin. You produce art by the bucket load. Well done mate.
  24. Ripper job Joe.
  25. Nice piece Vin. I like things that make you think.
