  1. Just finished this A3 size. Cut from 3mm hoop pine ply. framed with 42 x 19 pine stained jarrah. 3 coats of 30% gloss laquer. I used a FD New Spiral #2 and ultra reverse #2
  2. You did good on the Santa and the pup.
  3. I'm gonna choke, but that is excellent Marg. Just the colours are a bit off putting
  4. Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I really enjoyed designing and making these. Whenever I visit one of the schools, I feel pleased as punch to see them in the display case or on display at assemblies.
  5. Super piece mate. That's sure to hold a special place for whoever is lucky enough to end up with it.
  6. Great job on a rather difficult pattern. Any music coach or student would love that. It's a fantastic piece.
  7. Lawson, I either buy the felt in A4 sizes or by the metre or part there of. Using wood glue I fix it to 3mm mdf or ply that I'm using for the backer then glue the backer on. I like the variety of colours and it beats brush marks or cleaning out spray guns.
  8. I was looking for a pattern and came across a file of photos of work i have done. I was surprised at the variety and had completely forgotten about some. Prendiville and Christian Bros have combined to form John Paul college. St Mary's is where my wife is assistant principle. These are bout 400mm high and are made from Pine and Jarrah with coloured felt backing.
  9. Edward, It looks like narrow, short grain is the problem. When cutting any timber and these 2 things come together you will more than likely have the back (underside) breaking away. Reverse tooth blades, mitigate it to a certain extent and a zero tolerance blade surround will also reduce it some. A sharp blade also helps and a slow cutting speed, not the speed of the blade, the speed you feed the piece into the blade.
  10. My Grandfather had a sign along the lines of your second piece hanging in his dunny. Used to get a good laugh. Good job
  11. It's nice when you can make a few bob of your hobby. Well done Edward.

Nice looking Colts. They would make a unique and novel presentation with the "Colt 45" replaced with "Top Gun"
  13. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&q=dividers+and+corners&chips=q:dividers+and+corners,online_chips:floral,online_chips:vector&usg=AI4_-kQwt_OPlKzuaifE1HfTfnyrZhscXQ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj08-PvwfbdAhUGHXAKHTTECZ8Q4lYINCgL&biw=1920&bih=925&dpr=1 I pick simple ones. My go to one is something like this
  14. Great stuff as usual Kevin. If that was taking it slow, you'd be dynamite when you really get going Good to see you up and about.
  15. Very nice and colourful piece.
  16. You can't please all the people all the time My wife said " Sean Connery was a better bond" but my daughter loved it. lol They both liked the pattern and cutting so I'm on a win.
  17. Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts. It is a magazine, not sure how many times a year it comes out now, it used to be bi-monthly with a Christmas special. The had a very popular and active forum when I belonged. It's been about 5 years since I looked at the forum, can't remember my password now Brenda, have a look at Gwinnet woodworkers on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/gwinnettwoodworkers They have an impressive set of videos on scroll sawing and have just posted 2 on cutting coins. I like their show and tell segments. Hans Meyer is pretty good. Kick back and chill out for few hours while you learn
  18. Even with the disparity in out dollar and postage it's still much cheaper to purchase the blades from the US. Example Olson pgt skip tooth pkt of 6 $11au from carbatec. compared to $4..00 au for a dozen from Wooden Teddy Bear. Just and example, and I get them quite a bit cheaper again because I always purchase gross of various types of blades.
  19. Thanks Lawson, I am trying to figure out how I can do a large cutting with the 6 Bonds (not counting David Niven). May never get done, but it's a great mind exercise.
  20. Many thanks to @multitom " Mahendra " for the great pattern of Daniel Craig. I added my touch and have completed 2. Cut with a FD#2 new spiral and FD #2 ultra reverse from 3mm Hoop Pine ply. Framed with 42 x 19 Pine stained walnut and Rosewood. Finished with 3 coats of 30% gloss lacquer. Cutting A3 size.
