  1. Good Job, I'm sure she'll love it. x
  2. I cheat and put my patterns through Inkscape, that way I can change the lines to 'red' as I find them easier to follow that way and I can also make the lines a little 'wider' too without compromising the overall pattern.
  3. Great idea, great cutting, I daren't show my husband
  4. Great cutting, love the framing. x
  5. very effective , I love it x
  6. Terrific job, I'm sure it will be treasured
  7. Brilliant puzzles, I know a few tots that would love them xxx
  8. Congratulations,, a well deserved win, it's a wonderful piece !!!
  9. So, so true. Beautiful piece of cutting, I love it !!
  10. Most of us use BB plywood for scrolling, although poplar seems popular along with other woods. I sometimes pick up the odd table or set of drawers from second hand shops quite cheaply as 'hardwood' furniture in the main is kept by the 'older' generation and when they've gone the kids just give the house contents to charity shops. The wood can then be sawn, planed and used for scrolling.
  11. Hi Brandon, welcome to the Village. You'll find this forum is the best there is. There are some phenomenal Intarsia artists on here that are always happy to help. Enjoy. xx
  12. I'm sure the little chap will be over the moon with it, great job
  13. I think you did a grand job with those. !! I too started with a Pin End machine, however, after a few months on this forum I bought a second hand Axminster LOL, scrolling gets you like that. I now have both machines and still use both machines.
  14. Beautiful, a good job well done, I love it. !
  15. I did, I just accidentally knocked it over. It splashed onto my left thigh and welded my jeans to my leg immediately, the rest poured onto my right foot and welded my crocks to my sock and my sock to my foot instantly. It hurt like hell immediately, and my sock started smouldering and the smoke frightened the wits out of me. In my pain and fright I did pull the whole thing off. Not perhaps the best road to take but the pain was getting worse by the second and I was afraid that the sock would burst into flames.
  16. So sorry for your loss. I'm sure it brought your mom great pleasure and pride, it's an extremely beautiful piece.
  17. A lovely piece, nice clean cutting. Well done !!
  18. To be honest Don, our 'normal' superglue is a lot more viscous so I wouldn't have sustained the same damage. C.A. glue is like water and it just poured out of the bottle so quickly. Also, perhaps if I wasn't wearing 'cotton' socks it wouldn't have been so bad. But, lesson learned, I'll still be using it as it is really good at fixing the tiny 'inside bits that I crack or break but I will definitely be a LOT more respectful of it and super careful. xx
  19. From roughly this time last year. I joined shortly after buying my first scrollsaw (pin end) hoping to find out what I could do with it, and these lovely people were an inspiration.
  20. Well it's exactly 9 wks since my run in with CA glue and I've just taken off my final dressing. Hurray !!! The 'redness' will no doubt fade in time, but I'm no longer in any pain and I can get my shoes on again (I just can't pull my laces too tight on my trainers)
  21. Welcome to the Village, it's a great place to be with wonderful people that are happy to help, Enjoy.
  22. Aww, I'm touched... Thank you all so, so much for your kind words and support, it means an awful lot to me. You all are the very epitome of what a 'community' should be. I've said it before and I'll say it again, '' I knew nothing about scrolling when I joined the Village last year and everyone of you have played a part in my 'education' and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart".
  23. That is amazing. I've just started with spirals, but could never have attempted something like this on my first attempt. Brilliant work !!!
  24. This is my 2nd attempt using Spiral blades. I'm not displeased at how it turned out. The pattern is an @alexfox so thanks to you Alex for such a lovely pattern. I hope I didn't make too much of a hash of it
  25. Oh WOW, that is amazing , you must be pleased with it. I think your great grandkids are going to absolutely love getting one of these. You've done a brilliant job.
