  1. Tried 'bigger' today and heavens above, it's not easy with those tiny blades, they show every wibble and wobble, and I seem to wibble and wobble more than most

Talent never leaves you, it's a lovely piece. xx

    Congrats.

    Oh Wow, that's awesome. x
  4. Beautiful, well done. xx
  5. Have been trying my new saw out. Only having a PinEnd saw was brilliant to me at least. I was quite happy with it until I joined this forum. Then seeing the kind of beautiful work that you people make, I went and bought myself a 'new to me' saw. Well, never having used one before I jumped in with both feet and did this piece. To give an idea of size I've put my front door key along side it. Now it may not technically be the best piece you've ever seen, but I'm chuffed as mintballs as I've never done anything so tiny in my life. It's a Japanese symbol for Love and I've yet to be brave enough to cut it out from the big piece of wood. It's a piece of oak so hopefully it will last a good while.
  6. Stunning !!!
  7. I'm never likely to 'have an order' so perhaps I'm ok just 'flitting'
  8. There you go, I now have a new title. AMP, A Multi - Processer
  9. I'm just a 'hobby' cutter, at least you have a reason to do it the way you do, me? I have the attention span of a gnat.
  10. Wow, I was never that busy when I was working. I admire your stamina
  11. As you all probably know , I'm pretty new to this scrolling world but already I'm 'flitting' from thing to thing. I've got a Word Art Pattern half done, then I got my new saw and decided to try something 'tiny' ( a small disc with Japanese emblem on it). Today I received my new Intarsia for Beginners book so I'm trying a simple Intarsia pattern. So I now have 3 things 'half' done,,,, now I know I'll finish them all eventually but, does anyone else flit from project to project or do you all totally finish one piece before moving to the next ? Just curious to see if I'm the only one
  12. Couldn't find a friendlier forum, welcome from me in the UK.
  13. That looks great.
  14. Yep, you are quite right, luckily, although I'd printed it off and stuck it to wood, I hadn't started cutting, so went back to the video LOL. I'll try the 'colour' tip next time I have half a week to make a pattern Although I'm hoping that I'll get quicker as time passes.
  15. Oh Heavens,, I don't have any skills ,,, I had Travis and his step by step video... I was just so pleased that I could concentrate long enough to actually make a pattern. Mind you I won't tell you how many times I watched it before it sunk in to this brain of mine. But thank you for such a lovely thought. Brenda x
  16. Thanks Roly, I appreciate the thought. It's an Axminster Trade Series AWFS 18. I bought it second hand. But after 'flapping about' like a headless chicken I decided to sit/read/digest. The instruction book is actually well written when you stop and read it. So now I can change a blade, undo the top of the blade and put it through holes in my pattern and it's working well. Just so different to my little 'Clarke' machine. Just got to learn about blades now and I'm up and running
  17. Ok, so I managed to get to my saw finally. Sat and re-read the instructions - 'slowly' - and I've got everything sorted. Did some cutting on it and WOW it is so, so different to my little PinEnd saw. The blades are so tiny compared to the ones I'm used to, but it is amazing. Had to wear my new 'Magnfying Glasses' which took a little getting used to, but I cut a couple of practice pieces out of thin plywood and I was quite happy. Not sure how these tiny things don't snap at the drop of a hat though, but I know you lot cut quite thick wood with them sometimes, but I guess I will learn what I can cut and what I can't over the winter months. I've printed out lots of 'practice' sheets from the Resources tab, so hope with time to be a good scroller.
  18. Tony had his own wood yard for many years and I have 8 dogs and they have sawdust down to keep things clean in the kennels, so sawdust is something we are well used to. It's just me invading his domain (workshop) that he's coming to terms with
  19. Oh heavens, I hope he doesn't read this !!!! He thinks I'm done asking now
  20. Just a few months ago I got myself a little saw. Joined this forum to see what could be done and how. I showed you my little workspace. Then I read so many threads on here that I was inspired, so I bought a new saw and my other half has now given me more space I wouldn't have even dreamt of all of this if it wasn't for you guys, so thank you so much. All I have to do now is to keep practicing until I can make something that looks as good as some of the things I've seen on here
  21. Just had to share. I actually made my first ever pattern. My undying thanks to Travis and his video, which I must have watched a hundred times. Watching the video on one tab and having Inkscape on the other tab, Travis talked me through it stage by stage. I'm really quite proud of myself
  22. I think that it must need an overhaul, because it says -stage 2 = ''remove table insert'' LOL well the flaming thing won't move, everything seems to be stuck solid. I'll chech with the other forum and Axminster maybe. Thanks anyway, xx
  23. I can only agree with the above. Words are not enough, thinking of you at this sad time. Brenda x
  24. As you all know I've bought a new to me saw. An Axminster. However, I've read and re-read the instruction book and still cannot even change a blade. Now there was a blade in it when I got it and I don't know how long it had been stood doing nothing, but my guess is at least a year. Are there places that do 'over hauls' on scrollsaws or does anyone know of a nice UK forum that I could join to enable me to get in touch with some kind soul that may be able to come over and help me ? I know this is a long shot but thought I'd ask anyway. Not only am I totally new to scrolling I'm a useless mechanic.
  25. LOL, my little bit is only 5ft x 4ft and getting that was like prising a bone out of a dogs mouth
