  1. Many Congratulations, they look brilliant.
  2. No can do, sorry. I've never tried anything that big, but look forward to seeing some that others have made.
  3. Ingenious.
  4. Some time ago someone asked to see a photo of where I work. Well I have a little corner in the top left hand side of my husbands workshop. He put the workshop together when he knew he wanted to retire.
  5. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a really good pattern.... Get well soon.
  6. Aww, bless you all, however, I don't think I can blame any of the above on either my eyesight or tiny blades. I use PinEnd blades and I was using a thick one to boot. You can see which way up it is from 4ft away
  7. I couldn't fathom out why my scrolling was not going to plan today. I'm new to this scrolling stuff so it was very strange. The wood kept jumping, the blade wouldn't do a curve, my pattern was lifting at the edges. I checked my tension, that was ok. I checked the blade was aligned, it was.. I spoke nicely to the machine, that didn't work. I patted it on it's arm. I promised to give it a good clean later, it didn't care one jot. I cursed the piece of wood I was working with, thinking I'd picked a 'bad un'' off the shelf. Finally I came to the conclusion that the blade must be dull, although I'd not used it much, so I went to change it... and lo and behold.... I'd put it in UPSIDE DOWN !!! A while back I broke my first blade and today I did this, so as I say ''there's a 1st time for everything''. Now having a coffee !!!!!
  8. Thank you, I didn't scroll down far enough to find that forum, my mistake. If Admin wish to delete this one, I've now put it on Hot Deals. Thanks for the heads up Meflick, appreciate it.
  9. Not sure if this is allowed, please delete if not. There is an Excalibur 21 for sale on Ebay UK, with only 1 bid on it. Starting at £150, That seems like a good price to me. Collect from Redhill, which I think is in Surrey. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183411870329
  10. Welcome, enjoy this forum, everyone is so kind. May I ask what TN stands for, then I can look you up on a map.
  11. Oh Wow, that looks great, Well Done. I've often thought of Intarsia but always been afraid to try.
  12. I managed to get a fair bit of scrolling done today as it's raining cats and dogs outside and the only other option was ironing. However, I had to stop a fair few times to unsteam my glasses and rest. What with ear defenders, mask for dust and spectacles so I can see what I'm doing I sometimes feel like a veteran Darth Vadar. Am I the only one to wear all this stuff ? If so how does it affect you when you work ? The ear defenders hurt my head sometimes and the mask seems to steam up my glasses which makes for a less than 'restful' time at my saw.
  13. My husband did all the 'wood' stuff for me, he's good like that, bless him. The little 'top' fence surrounds a balcony he put outside my bedroom, so I could have a cup of tea in the sunshine first thing in the morning. I know, I'm a spoilt brat
  14. Patience, I'm sure you'll soon get used to your new saw, and a request to Santa,,,, then you can have two. That's what I do
  15. Beautifully done.
  16. Thank you, we like it. It was a derelict shell when we bought it, and it's taken us about 10yrs to get it as it is now, but it was worth it we think.
  17. Oooh, may I ask what a 'deadman switch' is please ?
  18. What a good idea xx
  19. My goodness, how gorgeous. Sunny weather and so close to the sea, wonderful. Here we are last winter. LOL
  20. I have put some photo's of our home and surrounding countryside on the 'Introductions' page for you. I must admit that Yorkshire is called 'Gods own country' for a reason. It's gorgeous. Cold in the winter though
  21. Photo's of our home and the surrounding countryside as requested. Couldn't find too many pics without dogs, sorry. LOL.
  22. Not too many weeks ago I bought a cheap and cheerful PinEnd scrollsaw and quite enjoyed cutting out silhouette type things and was quite happy with what I had. I joined this forum as it seemed to be a friendly place to learn what else could be done on a scrollsaw. Well !!! I now have an Axminster saw, that is to be put in situ by my long suffering husband, I've had a pattern made for me by a generous member of this community, I've received help and advice that has been invaluable, I've ordered new blades for the aforementioned machine, I've bought a magnifier with light, I've ordered a stool on which to sit whilst scrolling, I've seen patterns that boggle the mind, I've got a load of wood stashed in one of my kennels, a host of new friends and life will never be quite the same again. To say I only joined so that I could see what could be done, I think I can safely say that you folks have changed my life. Thank you all. Brenda
  23. Amazing. A lovely piece of work, congratulations
  24. Today I went to my saw with the intention of finishing a piece that I'd started a couple of days ago. However, after about ½hr my heart said ''stop you've had enough'' !! However, my brain said '' just carry on for another ½hr and get it finished. Well, I should have listened to myself because I went on to make a ''right pigs ear'' of my piece and now I'll have to start again from scratch.. Am I the only one to make such an idiotic decision ??
  25. Mmm, if I'm that comfortable I too may scroll for hours, but losing myself like that would mean my other 'wifely' duties may not get done.
