We are expecting our first Grandbaby the middle of August. We found out a little over a month ago that it will be a boy. I put the last coat of clear on a couple of days ago. The saddle and bridle were made on the scroll saw, pretty much everything else was cut on the bandsaw. With help from my wife we have 2 and 3 coats of paint on the different colors. I bought another branding iron a few months ago for items specifically made for the grandbaby,, I branded a small oval piece of BB ply and attached it the rear of the platform. I know that it will be quite a while before he can enjoy the horse but I plan to give it to them at the baby shower at the end of June. The plans for the horse were purchased from Toymakingplans.com. We have made a few things and have a few more in the works to get completed before the shower as well. The baby shower theme is "Beachy"... yes, I guess baby showers have themes! My wife found an old Little Tykes car that was red and yellow and repainted it to the color scheme of the baby shower and I made a surf board that attaches to the top of it. I modified the surf board rack a little from what the pictures show. I have some small straps coming from Amazon to secure the rack and board the the top of the car. I'm also working on a mobile that mounts above the crib. Hoping to have it completed in the next few days.
I always check in on the Pattern request folder, even when I'm not requesting any just to see the awesomeness that you and the other pattern designers create! You have made a few patterns for me the last few years and all that you have ever asked for is for us to show the piece when it is finished. I was more than happy to compensate you even though you refused. (Didn't know how confusing it would be to address an envelope to someone in another country! LOL) I am dreading the day that we no longer have our pattern makers for one reason or another.
Thank You All.. grampa, Don, Birchtree.. haven't seen for quite a while and others!
by the way, can I get a pattern? LOL
That looks like a lot more than 134 holes, more like 1034!! LOL Next time, fold the piece of wood in half and cut the holes, then open it up and you have twice as many holes,, like using scissors on paper!!
Very unique, nice job.
I have 4 or 5, maybe 6 of these. My wife has one that was her Mom's. My Dad refinished it around 25-30 years ago,, it still works. The others, I have torn apart and made table stands out of them. I say go for it!
I've been wanting a large outdoor 2 sided or even 4 sided clock for years,, something you would see in a town square. I think they look neat. But they are expensive. I thought about making one, but that's as far as I've ever gotten. That piece is nice.
Made this Piggy Bank last month and had to wait to see what color it was to be painted. Found out last week it is gonna be a boy. Also got to use my new branding iron. I bought a branding iron thru Rockler years ago, but I'll use this new iron for projects just for the Grandson. I should have used an "X" pattern for the screws holding the acrylic on instead of the "cross" pattern.. that left screw head messes with the look of the eye a little.
Working on a wooden rocking horse now for him. I have it temporarily clamped together just to see what it is gonna look like. Everything is cut out and sanded, just need to paint all of the pieces and assemble... then wait about 2 years before he can actually use it!!
I'll have to ask Don for a patten soon! LOL
I made a baby rattle on 8/17/23 for my daughter,, I knew that she would have a baby eventually. I gave it to her shortly after she told us the news. She told us that she is due the middle of August! Wouldn't that be cool if she had the baby on August 17th??? BTW, my birthday is the 15 of August.
