  1. This just in, on Facebook someone commented that this project could not have been cut on a scroll saw. How can I prove it? A video? Or??
  2. Here is the url for Alex fox's new website: https://alexscrollsaw.com/
  3. $15.00/hr = $.25 a minute. You'd have to be able to crank these out in 8 minutes each to reach that very low wage. Unless you could find a very serious "hook" (fancy box or highly figured wood), I'd just look for a supplier who can sell in much lower quantities.
  4. Another very nice cutting, Bravo.
  5. Just got my jump drive in the mail. The new drive is 30g compared to the old one of 4g. There is 19.5g of data on the drive; all the patterns, both books of Vase patterns, all of Steve's Youtube videos as well as all of his video's of conventions and such.
  6. I was able to dl this as an .svg so the Stroke, Fill, and resizing were a snap.
  7. The finished piece. Pattern from an Etsy seller, meant for a laser, but hey. 1/8" ply (cheap). Five layers, FD Polar #2/0 blades, Minwax stains used, special Walnut 224, cherry 235, Homefront #17334 gloss white paint for the background of the lily. The lettering was the most difficult part, I started with #1 blades and broke the tiny pieces on the lettering, switched to #2/0 blades and changed the saw over to the short stroke.
  8. Barbara, At the top of this web page, click on "resources" then "village university"; there should be two buttons, one for Gimp and the other for Inkscape. These are tutorials from Travis and they should get you started.
  9. I'm Facebook friends with Al. I let him know there was interest in the pattern and he gave a short response. So, at least we know he's alive and kicking.
  10. The bushings from Advanced Machinery are $12.55 ea. pretty inexpensive for OEM.
  11. Hey, you need to let us know when a new book is out. Probably in the "off topic lounge". Mine's on the way.
  12. Steve's wife and family have completed updating the catalog and it is now available for purchase. I've just ordered the new jumpdrive which has all the patterns and more. There is an option to just buy the patterns from 2025 and 2026. I'll post when I get the drive.
  13. Welcome to the Village from SE Idaho.
  14. I can't shut it off.
  15. In keeping with my updating my table saw safety gear, here is a push stick from Steve's collection: I didn't have any 1/4: plywood for the center so I laminated two, 1/8" pieces. The side handles are 5/16" Elm.
  16. I saw a post on another site about using a digital angle finder as a depth gauge. The ole brain started working on a way to use a cellphone with a bubble level app to do the same thing. ( I always know where the phone is and it's mostly kept charged ) I took a 1 x 2 and traced the outline of the phone, then cut out the pattern, sanded the inside a bit ( to maintain a fiction fit It doesn't need a base right now but I might add one and flush mount a couple of small magnets.
  17. I have the stick. There is both the .pdf and the .jpg of every pattern on the stick.
  18. I downloaded this pattern yesterday and cut it out last night. When I took a break and logged on I saw the news about Steve. I will be posting more.
  19. Well, poo. Steve will be sorely missed. RIP
  20. picture; yes, it's a working switch
  21. From Steve's website: Steve's Health Update: Good morning. Steve is still recovering in the hospital and wanted to send an update to say Thank You for all the cards, gifts, and well wishes that he has received. This week, we should find out what the next steps are in regards to rehabilitation, so we do not yet have an estimated timeframe for when he'll be home, but he is doing well overall and looking forward to being back with you soon. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers, Steve's Family
  22. that's the one
  23. I am starting a new pattern/project; the frankenswitch from Gizmos and Gadgets. Has anyone here made one of these? Are there any tip, tricks, or advise about pitfalls? Thanks Wichita
