  1. Awesome work Ralph.
  2. Looks great!!
  3. Thank you everyone for the kind words!! I never intended to sell much when I brought the saw down for the winter. Just play around with a couple of craft shows at the 55+ RV parks to get rid of the stuff I was making. It's taken on a life of it's own!! Iggy waved his Poplar board and turned me into a Puzzle Zombie, and I've sold over 75 at the shows in January & February...and still have some craft shows and a car show next month. Not what most of you do...but it's good for the places I'm showing now. I was talking with a few people showing them some pictures of other stuff I do...when a guy wanted me to make a cross for his daughter's collection. So I doubled the price of a puzzle and told him I would. After I finished it I sent him a photo and a list of shows I was doing. He told me which one he would pick it up at...and I put it on the table to take orders off of till he picked it up. I got three more orders from it! Now I have two weeks to fill the orders, crosses and dogs with names, and to replenish my stock before the next batch of shows. All I can say is...next year I'm bringing stock!!! I've made enough so far to pay the RV lot rent for 4 months next winter! Not bad for a hobby.
  4. Went to Mexico with friends yesterday, so I had to double up on my orders today. Got two cut today, will glue and clamp tomorrow. Then spray with a couple coats of Shellac. Maybe a coat of Lacquer on top. Two down...one more to go. These crosses are selling well, in addition to the puzzle animals, 4 in total so far.
  5. Lookin good!
  6. I didn't care for Olsens, and FDs went where they wanted. I've found my favorites in Pegas. I used #5s at first but found the #3s are my go to blades by far, in fact I have another gross coming from Denny. I do use an occasional #1 also, and I keep a few spirals in a cage in the far corner of the shop.
  7. Great music...great cut!
  8. My “Winter Shop” in the Rio Grande Valley about a mile north of the border. This was when I set it up in mid December. A lot of sawdust in there now...lol.
  9. Fun little cars. I had a 280Z and traded it for a 300Z when they came out. Both were very quick!
  10. Slingshot with a roof under the tarp?
  11. We did live in Tucson AZ several years ago, property managers. I wondered how you knew that we lived there...not mentioned anywhere. Thought maybe I knew you from there and didn't remember...lol
  12. Scott's Puzzle Zombies.....yup, guilty! Believe it or not...Dachshund! Has out sold all others 3 to 1 so far! I would not have guessed it. Unicorns and Dragons aren't too bad either.
  13. No. Live in MO and winter in TX on the Mexican border.
  14. Nothing yet. Most people don’t come out till about 10 am. Did well at Saturday’s show. Several sales and 3 special orders. Got shows everyday this week except Friday.
  15. Another day...another show!
  16. I was obsessed over staying on the lines when I first started. Not so much now. If I’m cutting letters or something definitive I do. But small cuts or veins it give it charisma I just use them as “guidelines “. The more I do the better I get at conveying the message. After all, I’m working on becoming a scroll saw “artist “. And learning to interpret.
  17. Really glad you guys gave me great info on finishing the cross! At this morning's show, in addition to 5 or 6 other items, I showed the cross and took orders for TWO more!!
  18. What Dick said...x2 ! From this morning's show I have 5 pieces of stock to replace and 3 special orders. But I want to try it as soon as I can. Thank you very much!!
  19. Looks great Ed ! I've got a car show coming up next month and need to get started on stuff...That's now on my list!
  20. Absolutely stunning Tony!!
  21. OK...question from someone that never tried "glue stacking". How does it hold BB Ply together vs blue painters tape? Do you just glue the corners, or any larger areas of cutout waist also? I always have a problem cutting 1/8" and sometimes 1/4". It never fails...I get started...THEN think " if I STACKED 2-3 pieces it would probably be easier to cut". Sometimes I want to make copies, but the hassle of taping it all up is a pain.
  22. Hey Paul, what is the difference in feel and cut between MG #3 and reverse skip #3R blades?
  23. Awesome cross Dick ! I've been wanting to do a couple of those...How do you put the person's name on it? I haven't got the pattern yet...I assume it tells you how? But would rather hear from someone that did it.
  24. Absolutely awesome!!! Even if you gave me the pattern I know I could not match your skills cutting it. But I really would like to learn to turn photos into a pattern that could be cut! I'm getting to where I can get what I want out of Inkscape...but the couple of times I looked at GIMP I just couldn't get my head wrapped around it!
  25. Well, I've about got the cross done for an order. Thank you to all the folks that gave me finishing advice! Due to time and space in the winter shop I elected to go with Shellac base and will probably top coat with a couple light sprays of Satin Lacquer. I dipped the fretwork and sprayed the walnut backer. Mostly as a test. Dipping, while getting into the nooks and crannies, was a real mess and the spray would probably have gotten into everywhere someone could see. I ended up giving both a couple of light sprays. Will let it set for about 24 hrs. and shoot a little lacquer on it...after trying a test scrap first. What do you think...glue together before or after a couple coats of lacquer? Or does it make any difference? I kind of like it so far...may use this finish more often. Added the final picture. After I glued it up I shot a couple coats of lacquer on it and let it dry. A Steve Good pattern done in Hard Maple with Walnut backer. Cut with Pegas MG #3 & #1 blades. Finished with shellac base and satin lacquer top coat.
