  1. Yea...but this was from Ocooch Hardwoods. The tape was 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old so I just got a fresh roll, and I got clear shelf liner. We'll see how that works.
  2. That's a good idea Ron! I didn't think of that. I think I've got a router bit for that somewhere in the shop. Would you just stain the edges the same...dark stain...or paint chamfer black? I'm no good yet on finishes.
  3. Yea, Jimmie's not having a good year. He didn't look too bad today All 4 of Mr. H's teams made the top 10! With Elliot winning!
  4. 1/4" B/BB plywood . I got some clear shelf liner and fresh blue tape today.
  5. it's a modern version of a opaque projector. We had them in high school . I had to make a drawing using it for a class...so I put a pack of cigarettes on the table taped the paper on the wall and drew it perfectly. Now days if a high school kid pulled out a pack they would get in trouble.
  6. Run Kevin...run far away...lol Yup china phone number.
  7. For my first segmentation I thought I would try something simple. This "Yin Yang Cats" is by unknown on the internet. Alex Fox did a very good video on it a while back. After watching it a couple of times I thought...why not! I started with a FD UR #1 on one whisker, one ear, and one nose. Then I switched to a Pegas #5 and did the rest...much easier. I can't believe the rest of the whiskers, eyes, and nose cut that well with a #5...when I had a little wander with a #1. Now I've got to round the edges, do the coloring, cut the backer, and mount the whole thing up! It may have to wait till Tuesday...there's a good possibility a trip to KC and Woodcrafter may happen tomorrow...a King 16" just might follow me home
  8. Finished up the second CHIEFS plaque. I enlarged the arrowhead an inch and redid the CHIEFS enlarging and moved the spacing slightly. This one went smooth and quickly! I knew the problems I ran into on the first, thanks for all the help guys, and I used Pegas #5. I think this one's good enough to sell...? Watcha think? Would you sell as is...or do a frame?
  9. Looks great Les! I've got an Alex Fox pattern I'm going to do soon. It's a deer ornament...3 layers. It will be my first layer attempt.
  10. Very nice! I like the soldier's colored flag. The pickup looks like a 63 Chevy. I had a red one while stationed at Ft Sill OK.
  11. No wood lathe here...some day I'll get a small one as I would like to try turning pens. But that's another time I may try to come up with something on Inkscape for a frig magnet. I could take a state ornament and shrink the center part...? How do you stick the magnet on...epoxy ?
  12. When I saw the title of the thread that was the first thought through my head! I can get magnets and scroll frig magnets! lol Do you have any photos of yours...or a pattern? Where do you get patterns that small?
  13. Thank you. I see some of the works you folks do...and my mind never stops thinking of the possibilities. I think I'm coming down with scroll fever...
  14. That's very cool Ray! I don't think I have the patience to do that...lol
  15. Thanks Les! I never noticed different types. I just grabbed a roll of blue tape and went to painting...I HATE to paint! I'll look for that also tomorrow.
  16. WOW! that's some piece of work! Beautiful.
  17. It was only taped up last night and cut. Didn't peal till today. That is a partial roll of tape I've had about 1 1/2 yrs. when we bought this house and repainted the inside. You think if I got a fresh roll it might not do it that bad? Does blue tape or frog tape make any difference? I'm still going to look for your clear shelf liner.
  18. That's beautiful work Jim. And thanks for the tips! I knew the drill bit was way too big, but was to lazy to change it on a scrap test. Just wanted to see if I could do it with a tilting table...or at all lol. I will probably get a King 16' with a tilting head. I do love your "cat box" and I saw a photo Jim Finn put up of a bunch of boxes...the possibilities are endless! How do you make your boxes? He glues them solid and I think finishes them then cuts the lid off with a band saw. I don't have a band saw...yet.
  19. I use the blue painters tape...spray glue the pattern method. Once I get the wood cut to size and trim the pattern to size, I give it a sanding...I think I've got 220 in the sander. Then I put on the tape overlapping each piece slightly. Then I give the back of the pattern a LIGHT spray of glue (I think I'm using Loctite brand) and let it sit 30 - 40 sec. then place it on the blue tape and smooth. I let it set 5-10 min, to get a drink, then start. The piece soothes out with a little sanding afterward, but I didn't think you needed to sand a second time. Also what's with the tape pulling up wood? What am I doing wrong...or is this normal?
  20. Yea...I'm going to have to dig those two titles up again and start a scroller's library. Also watch that Dave Monk video again...and pay attention this time...lol. First time I saw it I thought...maybe in a year or so. Now I'm thinking my timetable just got moved up!
  21. I want to spend some time and get fairly good at it. I really like the inlay boxes Jim Finn makes. I saw a pattern of Willie Nelson done in Intarsia...I'm thinking maybe I could do it.....in 3-4 years...maybe... It beautiful, but better left to you guys with years of experience I think.
  22. Very nice work!! I don't know my tractors real well, as I was born/raised in Tulsa. But that looks like the old Ford 9N grandpa had on the farm when I was little.
  23. Looks great! I need to do something with all my scraps...they're taking over my shop!!
  24. Awesome piece of art!
  25. 2006...I didn't realize it's been that long ago. I watched a lot of his shows.
