  1. Brenda...I can almost see your face when reading that... Just to be clear...These are the Crappie Jigs I tie. This is a Crappie (very good eating). Here is one of the Louisiana Bayou, one of my favorite places to fish. And here is one of the thousands of alligator in the bayou...he also likes crappie! Now you're ready to come to the US and go fishing!
  2. Cool! Looks great...and I like the idea!
  3. Top notch as always Kevin. How tough was the heart box? I have that one saved for later on. May have to do several jewelry boxes for the four granddaughters!
  4. That's the plan. That is one of the reasons I got the King 16" instead of a 21". It and the little benchtop drill press will ride in the front cargo hold. I normally carry a Barker 42gal. blue tote there, but we will be in full hookups the whole 4+ months so it won't be needed. I'll pack foot pedal, sanders, misc. tools and supplies in a tote or two that will ride in the main cargo hold. Also my stand breaks down to legs and a couple of braces to go in one of the cargo holds. I'll take some BB ply. and put in an order as soon as I get there, and pick up hardwood (or order) locally. I plan to do a lot of cutting and selling (hopefully) as we'll be in the Rio Grande Valley for almost 4 months. While it's cold and snowy I'll be sitting outside in the sun, in shorts and a T shirt, cutting patterns I'll take my laptop and files, but may look for a smaller printer to print and copy patterns. Yes folks...it's the Ozark Sawdust Road Show! Scroller on the road.....
  5. The kid's house was in Oak Harbor on the south side of the golf course. We camped at Deception Pass State Park. They had a nice lake in the park full of trout...I fished almost every morning!
  6. WOW Alex! That's a really nice project...6 layers, holy cow!!!
  7. You should have some great fishing there on the Columbia River! We were out there a couple of yrs ago. Spent about 3 1/2 months in the 5th wheel. One of my son-in-laws is a Naval officer and was stationed at Whidbey Island WA north of Seattle. After their place we went to spend some time with some close friends of ours in Medford OR. Then on to a week at a RV park in the Redwood Forest. Followed by a week over 4th of July at Napa, we use to manage a retirement property there so we knew the best wineries! It's all beautiful out there!
  8. With all the rain last spring, and most of the summer this year, not only were the ramps closed...but the roads to them were under water too! Truman is great Crappie fishing. In fact Crappie Masters has held 4 or 5 tournaments there the last two years...including the National Championship. I live closer to Stockton Lake and it's good fishing too. Crappie and Bass both.
  9. Thanks Dan! That gives me a game plan instead of just guessing. This forum is full of fantastic people! I'm assuming the Mahogany is also 1/4" I am getting ready to order some hardwood as I'm wanting to make a couple of clocks. Does anyone ever use Oak? I never see it mentioned here.
  10. Got my scroll saw stand in today. Even got it put together! It has 3 height settings, I used the lowest. Found a 3/4" x 2' x 2' piece of Luan plywood on my wood cart, so I trimmed the edges slightly and used it as a top. The bench to the right in the picture is my Crappie jig/fly tying bench, that's what I had my scroll saws on so far. This is about 5" lower. I'll still use a stool, but it allows my forearms to be almost level, like sitting at my desk working on the computer. I think it will be more comfortable cutting, relaxing my shoulders. If not I can raise it 2 more positions.
  11. Got it glued up this morning and gave it another shot of lacquer. It is sized for a 3" candle...but all I had was a 2 1/2"...but you get the idea...
  12. Holy cow! From the looks you could scroll a 6 x 6 post with that thing...lol
  13. Very beautiful!
  14. Very cool sign! That gives me some ideas...that's dangerous lol.
  15. Thanks! I thought I would try one first. It came out OK so I'll stack cut some more to sell. What finishes do you use, or which ones sell best? I did a clear spray lacquer on the fret and Minwax Early American on the backer.
  16. I saw several candle holders that Steve Good put up, and thought I would start with this one. Got it cut from 1/4" BB ply and finish put on. When it's dry in the morning I'll glue it up. I got a bench drill press and a couple of Forstner bits so I'll do some tea light holders also.
  17. Very beautiful Dick! They are so nice...we had to see them twice! Or like Scrappile said...too much wine...
  18. It looks pretty good! I love the pattern...I need to do it....but I'm with you, NO spirals! I tried one...put it back in the pack and decided to wait to try it again.
  19. Very thoughtful Ed. I'm sure they'll treasure it for years. I too am a big Rolling Stones fan! As you can see by what sits beside my desk....
  20. Very nice! I need to do one of the three sizes.
  21. Finished cutting TEXAS this evening. Dipped it in Watco Danish Oil and have it hanging to dry over night. It's. a Russ Wood Designs pattern. I got Texas and Nebraska from his states series. Thought I would try framing it. Didn't come out like I wanted...maybe if I cut one from 1/8" next time. Any ideas from the "framing masters" out there? I think glass would be better than the plexi. that came with it. There would not be any bow then.
  22. Times New Roman for the big letters? What font did you use for the small letters? When I finish Poplar it never comes out that good looking! What do you use? I've got to review Travis' video. When I tried to do one of our names it put the last name on top of the first names...I need it to be opposite.

  24. WOW! A true work of art!
  25. Yup! Every day! Big difference.
