  1. Merci Rick, good suggestions ! Have a good day! planeur
  2. Is your scrollsaw table is level or with an angle like mine. The back legs of my table are higher than the front ones, so you see more the line to cut or pattern in a overhead view! I had been reading that it was better like that , and still using it . planeur
  3. Thanks everyone for your opinion , very instructing ! Personnaly , I find that cutting on the line is more diificult because the line and blade are same color, and one at the back of the other. I have a good view and a lamp over my saw! Probably it's because I am not enought pro in cutting..... but it.s coming! planeur
  4. Wow Dave, already beautyful ! Lot of work. Question : I do not see any glass of wine on the table ......! planeur
  5. What about this wood : amaranth wood which look like a sky with a storm coming... ! I used that wood for my Blue heron . Beautiful wood. planeur
  6. Beautiful clocks Rolf , I am not yet there , but it's coming slowly but surely ! Question: how do you make the hour numbers on your clocks ? Have a good day! planeur
  7. I just found the web site of the sanding jig of Ronald Walters, for the wheels, and that I will put on my Ridgid sander. Thanks a lot Ronald planeur
  8. Frank It is just superb, incredible work of "Art", with so much very small details. I had saw some of your oldest piece like this one, but this one is on the TOP ! Questions: final total thicknees ? How or with what do you peel the glueed model off the wood, was probably a very delicate job! PATIENCE PATIENCE and DEXTERITY Bravo Frank very impressed ! And thank for all the tricks, I will try the Pegas #2/0 spiral blade. I already using them! planeur
  9. In another life… I owned a wooden gears clock (was buys ) , and I had always wish to have another one! I am quite impressed with all the quality and beauty of each clock on the web , so I said to myself why not me! After reading a couple of times the instructions, you will see soon the progression of my wooden clock , this model of Marc Tovar from Scollsaw magazine . I will probably change the final aspect of the clock but it will be much the same.... Thanks again Jes (new2woodwrk) for your help. I am using Excalibur saw and this is how I work. I had all the Baltic birch and MDF wood at the good dimension except for the 1/2" so I managed to do some planer ! Once the plan glued to each wood, I cut all the pieces with Pegas blades # 5 The wheels are quite precise job to cut, we have only to put more attention and .....patience! I am still looking for smalls brass 1/8”rod and 5/32” and 3/16” brass tubing for putting up all the pieces together. Here are some of the pieces cut but not yet sanded or rounded . Being my first project of that kind , I have to improvise some technique, so here it is and as I said to that post I am still looking for your advise and help! Thanks planeur
  10. Thanks Rolf, they are good tips and tricks, I will make also a jig for sanding the wheel. I had saw that jig before. Good idea also for the ext. cercle. In fact you cut to the ext. cercle without much precision, then sand at the right dimension. What kind of blade are you using ? planeur
  11. Thanks a lot Ray, this man is a genius, I had seen a couple of his video and gabarit. I am already on his site! Thanks planeur
  12. I agree with you Kevin but I am not yet sure enough of my means to make the small curves, but it's coming ! And I will try to use smaller blade , I had used the Pegas #5 (12X). And the piece is quite thick .500" ! Have a good day, I am going skiing , skating cross country planeur
  13. Being my first project of that kind , I have to improvise some technique, so here it is ! What do you think of my technique to cut the wheel? I begin by cutting all the round top of each tooth , then I cut all the left side of each tooth, then the right side to the bottom. I try other manners and I found that I was doing a better job like that . What is your technique to do that ? I will be posting the beginning of it very soon! Thanks planeur
  14. Thanks everyone for your reply and your sympathy for my health , but everything is OK ! Before trying that, someone told me that he did it , with very little cutting material removed at each pass on the planer. And yes I have to planed 2 layers of wood to arrive at .500", the size need for my projet. And the reason I did those test with Baltic birch is that I need those 2 pieces for my future projet , a wooden gear clock , which is already in production. I will show you soon ! Baltic birch is the wood recommended for that. And I did not want to buy a 5'X5' piece only to use 12"X12", you would understand seeing the size of my basement's shop! Thanks again and sorry that you get much worry for me. planeur
  15. Hello Kevin It is that multiplies wood . And compare to regular plywood, this Baltic birch ( here we call it " merisier russe " ), it has more layers and better quality . I did two tests and were OK. For sure we have to plane some glue.... but I have to plane a small piece as 12 X 12". And I would not plane also regular plywood, which is lest quality and layer, as those one. Have a good day planeur
  16. Ever try to resize a baltic birch with your planer or another machine ? Would like te resize a .587" piece to a .500" thickness. I did do somes tests with the planer and had good result (depending of what you wanr to do with it .... ! ) Thanks planeur
  17. I like very much cherry wood , so beautiful ! I had made a rocking chair in that wood. But what about the expansion of regular wood ( as cherry ) for a clock ? I read that it is better to use baltic birch plywood for the wheels, but what about the rest of the clock. I am in the process of chosing my wood for my clock. Thanks planeur
  18. Go Berry Go! We are following you ! planeur
  19. Brian do you think those cutoff wheel could be small enought to fit on a 1/8" shaft of a Dremmel , like those ? In fact I just saw that your power carver look like my Dremmel. I am still looking for larger wheel....at least 2 " in dia. Thanks planeur
  20. Is anyone ever used that kind of tool for sanding , and use with a Dremmel tool ? Does JGR use that kind of sanding. I had looked at her video and WOW ! I just transformed those and it's seem to work good in my test ! I am looking for bigger diameter wheel So what do you think ? planeur
  21. WOW ! VERY NICE ! I love also the reflection and it's quite real ! And to my opinion it's the most beautiful duck in nature Bravo Lee and thanks for showing, it will be on my list....! planeur
  22. Jim, as you , I am interested in that wheel so as you probably saw , I just found that information from JGR https://intarsia.com/pages/wonder-wheel-help planeur
  23. Bonjour Berry I am interested in your projet, because I am " trying" to do one myself..... the MLT-13 that I already began! So you will surely be a good help for me ! So ...... I vote for your project planeur
  24. Good idea Jim , I have one so I will try it with my dremmel on it ! Thanks planeur
  25. Merci Frank, in a mean time I'll try to use my Dremmel planeur
