  1. Merci Mélanie I will also use this option , and probably is very good et easily reversible! planeur
  2. Merci Bob and Kevin ! I will try first the hot glue spot. Even when the glue is dry and set up ? What is the effect of the vinegar on wood , could it change the color of the wood a bit or nothing ? Have a good day ! planeur
  3. When doing intarsia, I am looking for a glue which would be enough strong to hold pieces together, but also be able to separate those 2 pieces easily. What do you think of putting a small amount of hot glue with a hot glue gun ? I want to put together all the pieces to see if everythink is OK , before the final gluing to the back ? Merci ! planeur
  4. Beautyful Frank With the blue backing , I see the dragonfly as if they were flying on top of water! I like it very much! Look what I took recently on my rear window , probably the same two ! They were ........making the next generation.....!
  5. Bonjour everyone ! At last outside autumn job are almost finish, so here I am with my work of rounding the wings ! Quite happy with the job , still some details to come . I had also began rounding parts of the neck . From yours suggestions, I had put a small raising shim under the neck that make a big difference ! And here are the equipments used for that job. And they are always a port of aspirating hose near! The two wood little hand sanding tools were made from a photo and I am using the sanding paper, cut from paper use with the Ridgid machine. Thank again for your support ! planeur

  16. Thanks a lot Frank, I need comments like that to continue ! You are also an exemple by your incredible work , It gave me the boost to try intarsia and scroolsaw! Untill I have finish preparing my garden for the winter , and some biking..... I will use the rainy days ( coming ) to begin to rounded the piece. 18. I have some good ideas already but before going further, would be more confortable to have others advises. I had cut and install with double tape the rising pieces behind the wings and assembled them together, and ........WOW ......already a 3D effect and without no rounding yet ! Look that : Before : and after gluing the risers : Can I do better for a 3D effect before beginning to rounded the wings? And how and with which wing would you start to rounded those wings? Ext. or middle one ? I will cut a small line on each wing as on the model, with a small blade. and only that will change the view ! Thank you ! planeur
  19. I had cut and install with double tape the rising pieces behind the wings and assembled them together, and ........WOW ......already a 3D effect and without no rounding yet ! Look that : Before : and after gluing the risers : We see some risers but that will be corrected. Can I do better for a 3D effect before beginning to rounded the wings? And how and with which wing would you start to rounded those wings? Ext. or middle one ? I am all exited....! Thank you ! planeur
  20. I would like to have expert advises on my way of doing it ! Well after viewing Brian's excellent "tutorial " with his Raccoon, I will try to put some rinsing pieces behind the 8 central pieces of the wing , as described on the photo. So that way I could put ( I think..... ! ) some 3D effet on the body and central wings, with the middle more rounded . The middle part would be raised by 1/2", the 2 nexts by 3/8" , and the others one by 1/4". All the wing pieces are 3/8 " thick. I have already cut the raising piece so It could give me a good idea of the work..... So what do you think ? Is there other manner to do it ? The model I try to do is that one . Thanks a lot, I am here to learn...! planeur
  21. Thank you Brian for the detail process of your work, so real and beautiful. While doing my great heron your course will help me a lot ! planeur
  22. Merci Jim , but the gaps are so thins it's almost like one piece! planeur
  23. Grandpa, so much real and beautyfull ! I am working on an intarsia, and to help me how did you put together the tail feathers, assembling the darker wood beetwen the lighter wood on each side ? It is perfect , you do not see any marks betwen the two wood ! Thank you Jim planeur
  24. Thank you Brian It is exactly what I was looking for ! I began to read your description , and I understand now some of my questions. I did not think about risers for somes pieces, good idea ! I am at the moment to put some 3D in my Great Heron , so perfect syncro! Merci encore and I will try to put your experience in my intarsia. planeur
  25. WOW ! Incredible details and beauty! Brian I have a few questions for the intarsia master, for me who have so much to learn in intarsia. Is there a “back” behind all the small pieces, or they are glue together , before you put the Phoenix on the exposed back ? Is there some sculpture work in the Phoenix? I am curious about your sanding equipment , when sanding the very small pieces because I am in the process of “ rounding” my pieces of my Great Heron ! Thank you planeur
