  1. All, because of the SSV family, I have pushed the envelope some in my work. Thank you. Pattern from here, Dewalt 788 with Flying Dutchman #1 reversed. 2/0 was so small, could even see the teeth. Thanks all again.
  2. @amazingkevin, thank you for all you do here in SSV and due to this policy, it makes scrolling more enjoyable and this site a cut above the rest. Thank you to all! Hendo
  3. I was thinking maybe something around the TV opening, however; like those above me, either on top, some work or just the draw faces. Nothing over the time as what you have there is pretty amaing. I would suggest though that once you decide to start, don't let the "good idea fairy" come along and you start adding more and more to the project.
  4. That is amazing work. i know it took a while to make, but the work has paid off!
  5. I recently retired too from the military and was told to find a hobby. Scrolling sort of fell into my lap and I am glad it did. Like you, I am thinking of going to craft shows, but I am only doing silhouettes right now. Maybe one day, something more elaborate. Anyways, glad you found us and look forward to seeing your byproducts of making sawdust.
  6. Welcome to SSV. Looking forward to seeing your work.
  7. @Miter Mike, That is one that I haven't explored yet. I can't get onto his websites while at work and when I am home, it is walk in, chores, make sawdust, eat, and then sleep. Next day, wash, rinse and repeat.
  8. Excellent work and I can see why it took so long. Patience is not only admirable, but produces exquisite results.
  9. I don't know if I qualify as I started in Oct last year, but I was handed a scroll saw, some blades and was told I know this works. No idea how old the saw was, or even how to operate it. I had to learn blade changes, which blades to use and for what. I found a great community site (this one) and expanded my horizons. Like many above me, I went local for blades and bought just about every blade in town. I took the advice of many of slowing down when cutting, good lighting, comfort when scrolling, or in my case, as comfortable as I can be. I have the first item I made sitting in the living room so I can always look at how far I have made it in a short time. I upgraded my saw and while it was a gamble in what I bought, it worked out great and I love this saw. I am still learning what works for me. There are a lot of knowledgeable strollers that have done it for a combined one million years, but everybody works a scroll saw differently. After about five months, I ran into someone that I associate with at work while getting supplies at Lowes. Turns out, she just bought a scroll saw and is trying to learn the craft. I offered what I could for a brand new person. As we perform our duties and we have a chance, I talk with her to see how she is doing and offering advice for her to overcome her challenges. I am trying to pass on what I have learned from both conversation and actually figuring it out on my own. Hendo
  10. Well done! Looks great and as long as the customer is happy, that is all that matters.
  11. Thanks and that is what I am trying to do, one step at a time. Wife is telling me to open a store as I type this. So I have that going for me. thanks again to being in the family.
  12. Thank you all for the comments. Had a rough Friday at work and needed to relax with some sawdust. @Foxfold, I have attached the first piece I cut. It sits in my living room so I can see it everyday where the journey has started. It’s a long story, but scrolling entered my life, never even thought about scrolling until I had my first machine. Had to learn how to use it, etc. up until three weeks ago, I couldn’t even find the manufacturer tag on the machine. Anyways, I am grateful and humbled to enter the scrolling world. I am also thankful for you guys and gals at SSV. Hendo
  13. I enjoy cutting them too. I have no less than 10 hanging around the house.
  14. Alright, I realize there are a lot of talented scrollers in SSV. I am slowly expanding my scrolling. Cut Tinker Bell our after work as it was one of those days. I hope you guys and gals enjoy my efforts. Hendo
  15. Peggy is a gorgeous gal in the nicest way. I can't lie, slightly jealous.
  16. I did something like this not too long ago. In the photo below, the cards are offset. I was going to use 1/4 plywood under the cards to give it a more raised look, however; it will be outside so I figured the wood would rot fast. I used a jig saw with a fine tooth blade to make the cuts. In your situation, it will be indoors, so you won't have to worry about wetness or in my case, gail force winds from a hurricane. I would use 1/4 BB plywood. Find how big you really way, then plaster the logo onto the plywood with a projector. That is what I did. I played with the distance of the projector to get the exact size I needed, which was a challenge with all detail in there. That sign has no less than 77 screws in it ranging from holding the cards up, to the white space on the lower rocker, and even the middle of the A. I hope this helps some. Let me know if you have any other questions or I was not clear enough. Hendo
  17. Very beautiful. It amazes me when work like this is shown. I still have a long way to go to reach your level of "expert".
  18. That is amazing! well done. I hope one day to get to your level.
  19. Looks great for an experiment, but yet still professionally done. Only thing better is if said Air Force...Go Zoomies!
  20. KMM, you are correct in that USA Copyrights. I have been to numerous countries that the rights don't apply/not enforced and you would be surprised what you can find for cheap. 3 dollar DVD's of the lowest quality on new movies, Oakley's that are made so cheap, they are FAoakleys (Fake A** Oakleys) to name a few. Here in the US, major companies don't have enough resources in my opinion to see all the trademark infringements. Me personally, I don't like taking things from others and regardless, I rarely sell anything, more like hand out items to people that deserve the friends and family discount. Great...now big brother will be watching me.
  21. Thanks for sharing and if it makes you feel better, not only can't I spel, I don't math well either.
  22. excellent work, but better is the selection of wood used. I like the natural grain and shades as they relate to the piece.
  23. spectacular job! details are amazing.
  24. Welcome to SSV. Like you, I am new to scrolling. There is a ton of knowledge here from a lot of guys and not one of them has a screen name of Fedido. Seriously, good work and it is relaxing to scroll. I have a 1990 13 inch craftsman saw that lasted for four months before I upgraded and I am glad I did. Again, welcome to SSV.
  25. I see why your screen name is amazing kevin because when you show off your work, I bet you hear that a lot! well done.
