wow!! that is great!! your daughter is one lucky girl im sure she will treasher it forever. when I first started working with wood I made my little sister ( she was 8 at the time ) a box with a secret compartment it in, and did the line cutting to make a couple of pictures on it....shes now in her 50s and she still has it to my surprise ! lol

Now that is absolutely beautiful!!! I hope to some day be able to do something like that !! you people are inspiring!!

ok, iv started carving on the first bull dog tooth pick holder, now bear in mind that I don't know what im doing here lol Im just sort of playing it by ear and winging it. lol that's pretty much how I do everything lol just in case you hadn't noticed that by now I figured id just mention it. lol so anyway I have several views of what iv been doing. not sure if this is how your suppose to do it but what iv been doing is lowering and trying to sort of round over the body. the top picture shows the back of the dog rounded over and lower then the legs/feet. I haven't really done much with the legs and feet other than just trying to shape them a little bit as I lower the body so they kind of sort of stick out and stand out. Iv started cutting in-between the front legs as far as I could go with the scroll saw and one of my dermal cutting tools...I have to see if I can find one of the hand saws....even though weve been here 5 years there are still some boxes that were never unpacked! lol we just sort of look into them every now and then when we need something and we cant find it. lol this is the front view under the words here, you really cant see it to wel but iv tried to cut into the mouth a bit to make the teeth. I had wanted to sharpen them into a point but so far there just little notches, im hoping to find a tool in my dermal kit small enough to try to bring the teeth to a point, now if I cant do that im hoping painting them will make them look like teeth. the next picture shows one side of the dog, you can see iv tried to round over the mouth a bit and im still trying to round over the whole body to make it look like a bull dog. the rest of the pictures pretty much show the same thing. you might notice a bit of wood sticking up a bit between the head and body thats where the collar is, im trying to round it over and sort of flatten it a bit. i plan on taking the ends off of tooth picks and inserting them into the collor to make little spikes on the collor.. iv seen lots of pictures of bull dogs with this kind of collor... i even have a crocheted spiked collor on henery. Only thing is henerys hair is so long your cant really see it! lol so ok that's what iv done with it so far, now all you expert woodworkers can give me tips hints and hopefuly instructions on what to do next... lol what i may have done right as well as what iv done wrong lol this is a learning process for me as this is the first time iv ever tried to carve something that didn't come from a compund cut first so most of the shapeing is already done for me and with out having some one around to redraw detail lines on the piece so i know what to do next. and remember to brutly honest! i cant fix things or get better at something if i dont have anyone telling me how im doing... and thank you to everybody in advance!!!

I cut one out for me to way back when, then my little brother visited and fell in love with it so of course it went out the door with him!! one of these days im going to stack cut a few more and this time im not going to let anybody have mine!! lol I say that and laugh because spike says I say that every time someone whats something lol oh well

lol Justin, I started wearing a face mask because I promished my mom I would when she found out I have copd. lol she wanted me to quit doing wood working but like I told her what good is living longer if I cant do the things I love doing? then she asked me if my lung dr knew I scroll....loll well lying to mom was never a good idea so I had to tell her no, and im not telling him either lol although I can do lots of different crafts woodworking and scrolling are my favorite!! just wish I could do more of it while sitting in my Livingroom chair watching tv!! I use to do a lot of my sanding in the Livingroom but spike would rather I didn't do that lol means we have to vacuem more often and its hard for him to hear the tv lol me to but when im working im not listening that much lol and now I have to go let my little puppies in lol

lol well I don't ever really drum things up ! lol I have to have some kind of a pattern to work from.. right now im atemping to carve one of my bull dog tooth picks... I think im going to put parts of toothpicks in the collar and paint them sliver...iv seen lots of pictures of bull dogs with spikes on there collars. it will be easy enough to do...just drill a small hole for each spike and then insert tooth pick. I haven't decided yet what things i'll start next. i'll take a picture tomarrow of the bull dog in progress and maybe you real woodworkers can give me tips or idea on what I have to do next. other then that I just have to sew my sweater together. layed out all the squares this evening for most of it...just have to lay out the arms and i'll be ready to sew it up. I didn't relize how much iv missed crafting the last 2 years until I was able to start doing it again!! but I cant work on anything for more then half an hour -45 minutes...as it tends to give me one kind of a headace or another...but im not complaining!!! on the contray im thanking God every day and every night that the botox is working to help keep them under control...not sure how id manage to go another few days let alone week, months and years in pain like that again. shudder!! lol but nobody wantsto hear about that!! im just going to enjoy aggravating frustrating and annoying myself half to death lol

ok spike got me a ton of used wood fiberboard with laminate floor tiles for my scroll sawing. its about 1/4 in thick... I know it can be cut with the scroll saw but is there anything spical I need to do before I cut it? also since its dark I will have to glue the pattern to the wood like I do for me compound cuts...will the spray adheaves come off ok after im done cutting out what ever I cut out with it? and if not any ideas on how to put the pattern on to it ? how about stack cutting? do they stack cut ok? one of things im thinking of making out of them is coasters..since its brown on one side and white on the other im thinking I might try to stack cut some kind of a pattern out of them and then use the cut out to inlay the pattern pieces like the white inlayed on the side that's brown and vice a versia… not sure what else I can make out of them, maybe try cutting some fret pictures out of them? would the # 2,3,4,5s blades be strong enough to cut through them? aren't you glad I joined this group so I could bother you with all kinds of questions!! lol still working on carving the bull dog tooth picks thanks in advance for what ever help you can give me

sorry I didn't see these messages soon! I didn't buy that cnc machine because spike looked it up on better busness and it got a terrible rating! right now we have put a cnc machine on hold...meaning were waiting to investagate buy one until a latter date... my youngest daughter and her husband are planning to move to Maryland some time next month … when we don't know... iv asked them how they plan to do this.. as they each have a car to get there plus all there stuff!! they THINK one of her husbands friends will come down to help … that's it no other information and no real plans made....so were thinking we might have to help them move with our van...but even our van isn't big enough for all there stuff...when I asked about it they just well we can rent a truck? no idea of how big a truck or who would drive it sine they have 2 cars to get there...so basically right now nobody it seems knows what they need to move , who might help them besides me and spike and as of right now they don't even have a place to MOVE TO !!! so for now like I said everything is on hold as I might have to use my money to help them move....neither one is working right now since the govener has close almost everything down....and they had to borrow money from me to buy groucys and pay bills so how they plan on doing this move is beyond me...every time we ask them about these things my daughter just says it ll be fine... lol her pat answer for most everything is it'll be fine... geezz don't know why im worried about them moving so far from home? I like her husband but since he moved in with her she has had to borrow money from me...about 800 dollars off and on to pay bills and buy food and I don't know how many times shes done her food shopping at my house....but....it'll be fine!! gezz I don't know why I have snow white hair!! I just hope his family will watch over them because Maryland as I have told them is a bit far for me to take food or send money right away... when they need it...but... it'll be fine... when if im able to buy one I don't knowif they make any that not only ingraves but cuts to...I don't know how long i'll be able to countue wood working as my health deterates…. even if its just an engraver it will help me bulid up stock besides hopefuly being fun to use... but when we do start looking again...its nice to know I can put a link up here to what were looking at and have someone or several someones go to the sight and take a look as neither me or spike really know anything about these machines... again sorry it took so long to answer this message but it didn't come up in my messages thingy... I just figured you guys had decided you would rather not get involved in helping to buy a cnc machine...whih is fine

well i didnt get any crafting done today... ran into lansing today with spike. lol since its been several months since i last left the house i figured i should proubly go witih him. lol saw my oldest daughter for a few minutes .... any way when we got home spike ordered some scroll saw blades for me, sizes 0, 1. 2, 3, and 5s.... so i can try doing some of the more complex fret cut projects... now that iv learned that most likely the reason so many of my fret work projects tend to break is because i was using the wrong size blades.... now i just have to wait for them to come in and then find a pattern i want to make lol maybe tomarrow i will get a chance to put my sweather together .... iv also started carving on one of the bull dog tooth pick holders....bet it would go faster and look better if i actualy knew what i was doing!!! lol but not knowing what im doing has never stoped me before ! lol im pretty good at winging it with most things lol

yea things are defently crazy these days we went to lansing to try to get adimizers there but there store was closed....stoped in to see my daughter for a few minutes while we were in town but she wouldnt let us go inside so we talked for a few minutes in the yard but she wouldn t let me get close to her...ah well at least i got to see her lol then when we got back into the village we stoped at the gas station and pick up some adimizers there for the battery cigs we bought last time so id have some until the ones i ordered came in, since the place we ordered them from said it would at least 5 to 7 days to come in....got home checked the maill and guess what was inside the mail box???? yup the adimizers for my regular e cigs!!! so i spent 20 dollars on 2 boxes of adimizers from the gas station cigs and i didnt need them!! lol ahh well i'll just set them aside so i'll have them next time i order adimizers in case they dont come in on time next time lol mumble grumble lol

ok im in a mumbling grumbling mood, first they closed the e cig store in the town about 10 miles from here with out notifying anyone...you will remember my venting when that happened im sure lol so I had to buy 2 e cig from the gas station at like ten dollars each....grrr… while I waited for the e cigs to come in that we ordered on line...annoying and inconvent!!! mumble grumble.....so anyway when I got down to my last 2 boxes of adamizers, ( the part you screw into the batterys ) I had spike order me some more.... this SHOULD have made sure I got the new ones before I ran out … well we ordered them on the 4th so they should have been here by now...so spike did a serach sort of thing that tells you where your order is yesterday and it was in st louius!!! now this is like a 100 miles out of the way in the wrong direction!!!! so he waited to see if they would come in the mail today and when they didn't he called the compney…. it seems the post office where they would normaly be shipped from is closed due to the virious so everything had to be shipped in a round about way...and of course no one bothered to let the coustemers know... I guess there getting a lot of calls from upset people, mumble grumble and it will take anouther few days to a week for the adimizers to come....and of course I only have2 full ones and the one im using left...which means im goig to have t get more from the gas station again. mumble grumble lol thank goodness for my nicotine toothpicks....I use those more then I smoke now but my it is annoying lol there now I feel better lol

now that is more then fantastic!! I look at all the stuff you guys do and it makes my stuff seem so simple lol but that's ok im just a simple old lady !! lol and you never know I might just attempt something harder after I get my 2 and 3 blades... I think that's what makes cutting fret work espicaly with real close lines easer and helps prevent the breaking you did a wounderful job!!

what a wounderful thank you for your friend!!! his bread looks good too!! now is he using yeast or is it a yeastless bread? also is he doing it all by scratch and by hand or does he use a bread making machine ? I would have loved to have had a bread machine when my kids were little lol I finally stoped making homemade bread because the family would eat it faster the I could make it!! lol iv thought of getting a bread machine and making home made bread for me and spike but spike says that's to much work for just a loaf of bread!! lol can you tell I at oe time worked in a bakery? lol I even know how to get the fillig into long johns and jelly donets lol

ok here are the pictures of what iv been working on I made 2 sets of steves lift people for the dewalt since that's the machine I have. now I could have just left both sets blank, but that's now me lol so I made my little people into me and spike. lol spike usuly wears jeans and a tee shirt and since he was wearing a red tee shirt when I painted these he's wearing a red tee shirt, and im of course in jeans and a pretty top. now for the faces, I lowered the wood face some and then glued spikes head picture and my head picture in to on the wood face. now sine spike dosnt really have any hair that's all I did with him now for me when I lowered the face a bit I tried to take care and only lower the face leaving the hair at its orginal hight. and yes I relize my hair is now white lol but I decided to make a younger version of me from when my hair was blond back then. lol I will put one set in the wood shop so they can hold up my scroll saw arm, the second set will just sit on my nick nack shelf. im thinking of making more of these for family and friends using there pictures. im just now sure what to do about the arms being up lol I need to think of something for these people to be holding up over there heads. now if I knew of anyone who still fished I could do one of my comopnd cut fish for the little people to be holding up over there heads...but none of us has been fishing in years lol I think these might be something that would sell except for the fact that I would need a small picture of someones face to put into it lol not everyone knows how to edit pictures to crop and then make the right sized head and not everyone has a program like printshop to make this easer to use lol oh well I have me ad spike and if I can think of something to put In the hands they might not look like there holding there arms up as if in a stick up!! lolnow i come to the birds in there bird cages. I made four of these and put up some up some pictures of then in progress as well as pictures of the finished item. now the first and last pictures of the birdcages and birds is after I cut out the pieces and started sanding them, don't ask me why the computer put one at the top and one at the bottom as that is not how I put them in here lol then comes the pictures of them after being painted. the next picture is of them hanging in the work shop after being polyurthined and last but not least is a close up of one of them after I put the feathers on them and the very last picture is of one of the finished birdcages and birds ready to put in the craft boxes. now of course I have to decide on what I want to start or work on next!! lol I don't think i'll be in the wood shop tomarrow as I have to sew all my granny squares into a sweater lol I just hope it will fit me lol id hate to have to give it away lol besides im not sure who besides me woud want a granny squared sweater lol they were real popler back when I was a teen and very young adult but I don't think many people today would want one lol I am still a prodict of my generation !!! spikes little flower girll hippy !! lol like I told spike the only old part of me is my body ! lol

ok I haven't been on for a day or so but that's because iv been crafting!! lol now I have a LOT of notfictions and since I have to go put wings on birds work on my bull dog and start putting my grannysquared sweater together i'll try to answer them all when I get back on this evening....if I don't get on this evening im prubly still crafting and just haven't gotten back here yet lol just one more cup of coffee befor I go into the kitchen lol I can crochet and drink coffee at the same time lol
