I love these pieces!!! could someone please expline to me what beading is? a lot of my work would look much better if they had some kind of border or frame around them. I have spike rout out the sides of some of the pieces I do to make them look better. we have 2 routers the big one I have on a table that I had before spike came and then a smaller one that's easer for him to use with out being on a table. im still trying to get him to put the big router and table in the wood shop but he doesn't ike me to use it . I got hurt trying to route something once after he came and either I was going in the wrong direction or something because the wood bucked really hard and the router bit thingy went flying ….. I assume I didn't have it tightened enough. but I know there will be a time when he won't be able to route things for me and the little router is still to heavy for me. I am hoping to get him to put the big router in the wood shop and then let me practice using it while hes in the woodshop with me.

very nice piece!!! now iv mentioned this before but I taught myself to scroll saw so I don't really know what im doing. lol I notice on some posts it says what sized blade and what kind of blade the person used. I never was able to figure out all the different reasons why you would use one type or size blade you should use for different things. I use the spiral blades for puzzles and then I just sort of look at the blades in my box and use skinny ones for aireas that have lines to cut that are very close to each other. and thicker ones for thicker woods and that don't have a lot of close lines.... I know some have different teeth thingys to but I usuly just get which ever one is cheapest at the time, and has more blades in the bags. lol this seems to be working out ok for me …. are there blades that are suppose to be used for some things and other blades to use for other things? not saying i'll change the way I scroll lol but I believe there is no information that isn't worth knowing. lol

I love this project!! we have a very small bathroom with no room to put a standing project...but I can change your pattern with your permission to make it a wall hanging instead. would that be alright ? I saw a picture in a magazine that said wash your hands and say your prayers cause God and germs are every where! lol I cut the saying out and put it in my machine emboridy files so I can make an emboriderd sign out of it. now I have two different ways to make a bathroom decoration with a purpurse. thank you! Oh before I print this pattern out and so I can write it down on the pattern.....is it ok to sell the finished project? either way is fine I just try very hard to keep my for personal use only patterns from my patters that the finished project can be sold. so far I haven't made any mastakes in that airea !! if however any one ever sees a for personal use only project that I have made for sale when I start selling again please just let me know and I will take it down. I would never perpursely sell a for personal use project.

absoluty stunning!!! I should proubly be able to tell this just by looking at the picture but I have problems with depth perception.... are the horses cut out first and then overlayed on t he wood or are the horses cut out of the wood with a black backer board?

Framed odds and ends: Bless this house and The Mount
Dragonkort replied to new2woodwrk's topic in Bragging Rights
I totally love those pictures!!! espically the frames!!! iv never been very good at framaing things. How do you do the frame within a frame if its ok to ask? -
ok rabidalien, I looked on the dragon letter opener to see where I got it and I think before we do anything the experts here will have to decide if I can give you the pattern or now. the printed pattern didn't say what sight I got it from but at the bottom of the pattern it says scroll saw woodworking and crafts...I tons of this magazine and iv never seen it before so it much have come from a magazine I don't have. somebody put the pattern on line somewhere because that's how I got it but I don't know if I can give it to you. I do wish when people put patterns up on line for free they would put the sight name on the bottom of the page so I know what web sight I got it from. a lot do but then theres the ones who don't and after I print up a pattern after im finished making the project I put the paper pattern in a folder marked for what type of craft it is for if that makes any sense. so as soon as the experts let me know if I can put it up or not i'll let you know.

those pesty little elephant cell phone charger thingys
Dragonkort replied to Dragonkort's topic in Bragging Rights
ok I have read the suggestions about not take pictures on the newspaper and will no longer do that. lol I will also take better pitures of them as soon as there done. I just have to paint the outside sides of the elephants. looking at them I keep thinking they need something more....so iv hunted up some gray materal so I can make nice little floppy ears for the elephants and I hunted up some gray yarn to put on them for tails. Im also going to look through my eyes and see if I can find some eyes that will look nice on them. then we will see how they look. im kind of glad steve good doesn't come here because im not sure how he would feel about my changing and embelshing his design. lol i'll get them done and up as soon as I can. and no kevin production work does not scare me lol it drives spike crazy because I always have severl projects at different stages all over the house!! lol but iv also spent many years working in restrants and bakerys. lol which means cooking multiplys of several different meals at one time....not counting all the prep work for everything. lol is all the years I work in kitchens of some kind or another iv only gotten hurt twice. the first when I work at cornwells turkey farm restrant… I was the only one in the kitchens when the timers went off for the turkeys so I went to the oven and tried to take the turkey out of the oven....now you must remember these turkeys were a lot bigger and heaver then you can get at the store. and man was it HEAVY!! well anyway I pulled it out of the overn and turned to try and get it to the table when a bunch of the broth splashed out of t he roaster ( there was a top on it) and splashed all over my thighs!! I did manage to get the turkey on the table though and just as I was doing that the other kitchen people came I;n saw me and started running over to me ...I would have gotten burned worse then I did if they hadn't ripped my paints off of me right there in the kitchen!!! lol me I was going to go into the break room and take them off there but they said NO!! lol they wrapped a aprion around my waist and called mr cronwell into the break room. he look at my thighs and sent for one of his chidren to take me to the er…..and then asked me why on earth I hada tried to take the turkey out of the oven, I told him I was the only one in the kitchen at the time and I didn't want the turkeys to burn. he told me to NEVER try to do that again and if the turkeys got burned his sons ( whos job it was to take the out the oven would be in trouble for it. then as one of the grils was taking me to the car I could here him very angerly yelling at his boys because I got hurt and the price of the er and my days off to recuparte would be deducted from THERE checks!! the second time I was working in a bakery and the manager was talking to me on the phone so I cn't take the food out of the oven befor it burned and when I did take them out I opened the oven door and started swinging closed so I unthinkingly raised my hand up and sort of pushed the door back, unfrountly I pushed on the inside of the oven door. lol they put me on restricted duty because I only had one hand to work with !! lol oh in case you've never seen one the bakery oven was as big as a walking in closet. and here Iv done it again stuck stuff in here that's not suppose to be!!! i'll try to do better promise!! -
loll ok lets see i'll have to look at the pattern and try to figure out where I got so i'll know if I can put it up for,,,,,I'll try to take closer pictures of it once its finished now as to how to put the edge on them. I use my belt sander, sanding each edge at a little bit at a time on both sides, this helps thin the blade to so your blade is thiner then the handle. then sort of round over the sides of the handle...in this case the dragon, you can carve the dragon a bit if you want to an you could ingrave the blade part after your finished the sanding lowers the blade and sort of sharpens it as well....I use pine for most everything I make inclucing the envelope openers. the bades don't get sharp enough to cut you but they will cut the paper; iv used some of these in the past and the peole I sold or gave away to others have never complained about it not being strong enogh. I have several patterns for letter openers this is just the first and only dragon letter opener that iv found

just got back from the roges gallary and I loved looking at all the pictures!!! if I can find one of me and spike that's not too old and where im not looking to bad i'll see what I can do about putting one up. lol iv never got around to learning how to do selfies!!! lol proubly because im not as pretty as I was in my teens and 20s lol
-
good idea rolf !! I had just got them out of the woodshop and threw them on the table then later in the day grabbed the carmra and took the piiics!!lol next time I will remember not to use the newspaper covered table!!lol

thank you larry and keven there are pictures of the elephants in bragging right I think its called and yu will find pictures of sheba an the rest of my animal children in the coffee house. yesterday spike took out of the gragre the one over the kitchen sink shelf I had made awhile back but wouldn't fit over the facuit in this house and I had him put it on the shelf in the kitchen that's over the table...so now i'll have two shelves there where I can put some of my other stuff that I keep. when I was with the ex I couldn't keep the stuff I made as it was all for craft shows lol unless it wasn't good enough to sell. now im keeping a few things for myself I just have to find places to put them lol i'll take a picture of that soon and put it up

pictures of my sheba and other animal children
Dragonkort replied to Dragonkort's topic in Coffee House
ithank you danny. like I said I can't figure out why holmes died. foor and water are changed every day and the cage cleaned once a week with new gravl paper nd then once every 2 weeks I not only change the graval paper I put the top of the cage on some newspaper and thoroughly wash the bottom of the cage....the part the tray sits on. the toys on the bottom of the cage get washed with hot water when I change the graval paper and the hanging toys I clean about once a month because they don't go potty on those. its just driving me nutts trying to figure out what went wrong. Iv been thinking of getting another bird maybe a parralot to put in with Watson but im not sure how that would go....holmes is still a young bird but iv never had the problem, when ever iv had bonded pairs when there mate died both birds were quite old....some oldern then they were expected to live. perhaps I need to put the cage in a different place...there on the edge of the kitchen next to the table ( I don't use the table much for anything other then crafting.) is maybe when im using my power tools....the drema and a hand sander maybe the noise was to loud for them? none of my other birds has ever had a problem with it but maybe holmes did? since you used to raise them do you have any ideas as to why watsons might have died? I really don't want to get a new bird until I have at lest some idea what happened to holmes and would another bird perhaps help Watson survive with out holmes? and if so would a parralot and a parraket be aable to live in the same cage together? we got a big cage when we got holmes and Watson so they would have plenty of room. sorry to ask you all these questions but I don't have any one else to ask and I want to make sure when I eventually get another bird it will stay healthy and happy -

Dragonkort replied to Dragonkort's topic in Coffee House
thank you, but we had a bad thing happen this morning, when I uncovered the birds I found holmes ( the yellow one) lying dead in there cage. sigh I don't know what happened. iv had birds of all kinds since I was16 and the shortest life span was at least 2 years... and that was the white little parraket my mom gave for my 16th birthday. the first bird I ever had. im glad I was able to at least get a picture of holmes befor he/she died. the worse thing is I don't know why holmes died. I haven't even had the birds a year yet...……….only about 6 months. sigh i'll get Watson out of the cage and throughlly wash it down again and change everything in there but with his/her mate I don't know how long Watson will last. they were a bonded pair. later i'' wright down the instructions for going to the page with the pictures and see if I can find a half way decent picture. -
well the pictures didn't come out as good as I had hoped they would but this is the stuff I cut out today, none of which is finished. the little people are the delwalt scroll saw people to hold the arm of the saw up when your changing blades or doing fret work. I have a few ideas on how to finish these. one is and I don't know I f t his will work....but trying to take a small picture of my face for the girl and a small face of spike for the boy and then using modpodge to glue seal the pictures to the face.. then since this is not a nudest colloney these litte people will need some cloths!! lol im not sure if im going to just paint them on or try to use cloth to make the cloths....either way it should be safe since your saw should be off if your lifting the scroll saw arm up. those two will be for me and spike lol i'll just paint some kind of face on the other ones and then put cloths on them when I figure out which works better. now the little animals, chickens and pigs I cut out to put into the plastic canvas barns I m ade a few weeks week ago, which are still sitting on the kitchen counter .lol spike would like me to get them off the counter some day! lol so after I get them sanded and painted they will go in there little barns and then put into there perspective boxes. now last but not least are 2 envelope openers im making out of pine. the dragon one will be for me...the music one will go in the box. I have 2 more dragon envelope openers in the wood shop to cut out and then i'll see what I decide to do next in the wood department. I will us my belt sander to thin out and sharpen the knife part of the opener then do what rounding and other things to the handles before I paint them... not sure how im going to paint the music one proubly black the dragon will most likely be green with a little red...not sure yet but no rush as it still has a bit more work to be done it ….well that's it guys . like I said im trying to keep busy right now so tomarrow I will see if I can start finisheig what I cut out today.

ok now for those pesty little elephant cell phone charger thingys. I took several pictures of them at different stages of work and the one little elephant that's painted gray is the only one that is competently finished. the white stuff is what I used to plug up all the holes and to make it at least look like I had cut everything out right so it would all fit together properly. lol tomarrow I think I will take my sander out and sand the put together elephants so I can paint them. I put the last 3-4 elephants in the winter box.....not good enough to sell but I know many people who would like to have one for free. there are 2 size's of these elephant cell phone things the somall one ( that's the one that's finished and painted) and then the ones I inlarged to fit the bigger cell phones. at first I thougt the little ones wouldn't be of any use as a cell phone thingy but when I showed them to ritia she asked for a small one because she has a smaller phone. So now we have a small one for people with small phones and the enlarged one for the bigger phones when I finish the rest of the elephants I can put them up for you to see to if you want. if not that's ok too as you can see a sample of the little finished one painted gray. I couldn't think of any way to emblish the little guys to make them look cuter but i'll keep thinking on that and see what if anything I can come up with. lol

ok here are the pictures of the much talked about ark of the covenet. now I didn't have the sized wood the pattern called for so I had to do some impermizing. frist the ark itself and the angles on top are made from the 1/4 in wood I think the pattern called for. how ever the people are made from 3/4 in pine I think it is....much thicker then the pattern called for but it did allow me to do a little carving on them. now I didn't figure in the difference in the wood when I was making this so of course when it came time to put the ark on to the pole the men were carrying it didn't fit!! lol so I had to think of a way for the ark supports to fit on the pole..so what I came up with is to put some little 1/4 inch pieces of wood on the poles so that the ark supports would rest it on nicely. now I wouldn't have had to do that IF I had relized soon that the ark wouldn't rest on the pole thingys. and as you can see the supports have little notches cut into them so I couldn't just rest it on the pole if that makes any sense because people would wounder why those notches were cut out in the first place.LOL then we have the picture of the inside of the ark.....you can't see it very well but theres 2 wood stone tablets inside for the 10 commandemets. the stick is for arrons staff and then the little bowl for the manna...thse two were not in the pattern but I stuck them in there anyway. lol now if you've never made clothspin dolls you wont regonize what the bowl really is so i'll tell you. when you make clothspin dolls there are little stands you put the clothspin doll into so they will stand. the bowl for the mannan is made from one of those, with a small piece of cardboard closing the bottom. since I have no idea what manna looks like I left the bowl empty. I of course could not sell these since they weren't made right but I made the ark of the covenant for my oldest daughter for her birthday and then of course I had to make one for myself. lol and one had to go to Ritia for her wedding gift for her grandson. ….. so after all that wait I hope your not to disappointed in finished project.

ok so sheba gos in for surgery a week from today and I am trying to keep busy to help with my panic anxity disorder.....I know more info then you need, I might be a bit more off this week then usuly so please bear with me and be paticent. lol and yes im taking my xamax its just not helping much right now. ANYWAY!! enough of that . Heres a few pictures of sheba lol the first pic is sheba sitting in our chair...I couldn't take the pic and be in the picture at the same lol. the next picture is of sheba sitting in her kitchen chair where she lies every time im in the kitchen shes my little helper when im ceaning or cooking or doing my wood work. lol and the last one is sheba in our bed. the big white thing hanging from her coler is her service dog tag. I figured since Iv been doing all this talking about her you might like to see a picture of who your praying for. now these next pictures are of my little shitzoo hennery. where as sheba is about 15 hennery just turned one . hes a squggley little soul. LOL and this is my little ivy....shes a bit alof but condensents to sit with me for a minuge or to everycouple of days.....lol and she is a great mouser!!! and last but not least are holmes and Watson...holmes is the yellow one and Watson is the blue one. the answer to my empty nest syndrome lol some day i'll sneak a pic of spike so you can see him. lol so now you've seen my little family who lives with me. lol spike is the reason I don't have more animal children lol he refuses to let me get any more animals! ok we'll try not to boar you with any other off subject ( scrolling sawing)pictures

well I have quite a bit of stuff done today! while having my coffee I did more stitching on my castles while watching. I got 2 more elephants glued together and I finally got back into my work shop and cut out the animals I needed for my barns. I also got 3 of steve goods delwalt scroll saw arm men cut out. the 3 girls are waiting to be cut out and I still have the dragon envelope openers to cut out and of course I have printed out several patterns that are still waiting to be traced and put on the wood. im thinking of trying to make some hot pot and pans trivits out of that old flooring spike got for but im not sure how it will hold up to hot pots and pans. i'll make one I think and then use it and if its ok i'll make a few more. it seems like it should be....its not real wood just looks like wood. but that's for another day. lol well now im going to eat and watch judge mathis befor I goback into the wood shop im trying to keep real busy this week and snuggle with my sheba and praying she will survive her up coming operation. spike is hooking up the other tv and setting up the wee machine for me so I can try to start doing some exercides as I have gained a bit of weight that I want to get rid of!!! hope everyone has a wounderful day i'll try to post pictures later
-
lol well I hope your gut counties to to let you eat the hot foods you like so much!! when I was with my ex 30 some odd years ago he would take my stuff to craft shows and he always came home with between 300 and 500 dollars. He said we got so much busness because we had such a vrity of things to sell. most venders only had one type of crafting....where as we had the wood, croched, sewed weaved and plastic canvas things. lol our booth was almost a craft show all by its self. lol I haven't been to any craft shows myself.....but I did at one time sell things on ebay. depending on how things go I might start selling things on liine again now sure weather ebay or esty I think there the places where people sell there crafts. but im not going to try t figure that out just yet and yes in crocheting you do have to sort of keep the tension the same through out the project. lol most people crochet at the same tension for everything they make. but since all people crochet at different tensions the same project might not look the same or be the same size. that's why in each pattern theres a gage check in the patter. they tell you what yarn to use, what sized hook and then it tells you so many stitches and so many rows should be so many inches long and so many inches high. that way you can change your yarn type or hook size to get the right out come. its very nessary when making cloths but you don't really have to pay to much attention to it when making toys and decorations. lol there now you know more about crotching then you ever wanted to know!! lol
-
lol ok ok tomarrow I will see if I can those infamous elephants up tomarrow. lol I haven't done anything today because today we took sheba to the vets. she is doing better but her gums are still infected. The vet was a little better at letting me know how much it would cost to have her teeth puilled. No more then $ 500.00 she said so sheba has an appoment on the 26 to get her teeth pulled. we asked her if she thought sheba would be ok with the antstisac and she will call tomorrow to let us know how her bloodwork is and that they have other ways to do things if it looks like she can't handle the antstisa….. so im praying yet again for my dear sweet sheba and hope all of you here will add her to your prayers as well for now we are just cuddling here on my chair just enjoying being with each other. if she comes out of this ok i'll take the blender out so I can puree her soft canned dog food. God has been kind this week and im sure he will countue to be, as always I pray God will do what is best for sheba and pray that being here with me a little longer is what will be best.
-
lol well im sure if you do your miss's will let you know about it !!! lol
-
I like it too. lol im glad when people like my projects but sometimes it can be a pain. lol it happens all year round but just before Christmas is the worst for me. don't get me wrong I love making things for people and giving them away free...espicaly if I know money is tight for some one.....but for some reason people don't seem to understand that hand crafted things take some time to make. lol yes I can make a star wars clock for you but I need at least a day or too to do it IF I don't have to many other projects I have to do. lol so far iv always managed to get everyoes things done on time.... but sometimes it gets alful close lol
-
fantastic!!! such a nice piece
