  1. Welcome back! Tell us more about the place you will be getting to do scroll sawing. Do you have something in mind for your first project?
  2. My personal safety rule: Once I drink alcohol, I do not operate power machinery for the rest of the day, scroll saw included.
  3. Very nice Kris! Beautiful scene, nicely composed and executed. The old Chevrolet in the yard gives it a sense of age and nostalgia. The wood grain gives dimension to the sky. The deer are very well done but hard for me to appreciate. They are overpopulated in my neighborhood and they eat every bit of landscaping we put out. Half of my neighbors love them and put out food for them while the other half, including me, plot on how to get rid of them. Bottom line is that I appreciate the work but must decline to request the pattern.
  4. I bought my Pegas scrollsaw in late 2020. It is my only scrollsaw and I have many hours and many projects of use with it. I have never had a problem of the type you describe. The only problem I have had with my saw was when the blades started slipping and I had to replace the thumb screws and swivels.
  5. Thank you Travis and thanks to John. Those already in the library look like fun and I will be watching for what is to come.
  6. Welcome to the obsession hobby! Your work will get better. Save these first few cuttings. In the future you can compare what you are doing to these and see how much you have improved.
  7. Very nicely done and very attractive. I am impressed that you could cut 3/4" hard maple with a #1R MGT blade.
  8. I have the Mac Mop and really like it. Don't remember offhand what grit, maybe 180.
  9. A search brings up his FB site (20+) Sam Custodio Workshop & Designs | Facebook which was last updated on August 8, 2020.
  10. Thanks Scott/Iggy, That is better than most patterns I have seen for Maltese. They are beautiful dogs but it is difficult to get that into a scrollsaw pattern. Thurman
  11. I am smiling!
  12. That is my favorite movie of all time. And I still listen to the music. Great cutting!
  13. Scott, Yes, we love our dogs. They attach themselves to us and are uncompromising in their love for us. You look like you are the master of the dog patterns, they look very good. Ours are now departed but ... The last 2 were Maltese. I have looked for patterns for them but have not seen anything that appealed. Do you have patterns for Maltese? Thurman
  14. Many of us like a stand that tillts the scrollsaw towards us. This helps us to see the pattern and blade without leaning forward.
  15. That is very well done. But knowing what I now know about woods, I would not attempt anything that intricate with thin red oak. I am amazed that you could do that with 1/8" red oak.
  16. That is a beautiful work of art. I showed it to my wife and now I might have to do one. How big is it?
  17. I suppose that oak has some uses but certainly not in fretwork because of it’s tendency to break along the grain lines.
  18. Kevin, The cuttings look very sharp and nice. Questions: Did you put something behind the "H" and "E" in CHEVY to support the letters? I wind up cutting fonts more often than I might like and have found that the little parts of the block capital "E" are delicate. It looks like you have a trick to handle this. What wood did you use for the base of the trucks? Red Oak maybe? It looks different from the cherry used for the trucks themselves.
  19. The cutting looks good. We now assign you the (un)official world record for fastest scroll saw cutting! BTW, I use parchment paper (non-stick paper for baking) as a backer when I glue or paint. Nothing sticks to it. The only negative is that any overspray comes off along with the painted object and you have to trim the excess.
  20. Here is my go at painters points. Not as sophisticated as yours, but they work.
  21. Beautigul cutting Todd @Badgerboy, lots of skill and lots of patience showing in that. Regrets I do not have any magic on how to remove that, you might have to cut it again, maybe using a different method of attaching the pattern this time so you do not need to use mineral spirits to remove it. Question, why was there still toner ink remaining on the pattern after you did the cutting?
  22. Thanks for the review Frank. I might try these myself the next time I need such. I clicked the link and it appears that my local HD has ~28 colors in stock. They are indeed creative with their color names! Thurman
  23. Frank, I bought my NEJE Master 2 Mini back in January. I did not get the black thing or the green plexiglass or the brush or the "what-ever you call it." I did get a pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes when I am running the laser. I used the wood and paper for test runs. My NEJE Master 2 Mini has a 10 watt laser and a max burn area of 110 mm x 120 mm which is fine for me as I only use it to engrave my work objects. I like your logo! Thurman
  24. I am not a cat person but I am most impressed with that piece. It is beautifully composed and shows great skill and attention to detail. Very nice!
  25. Wow Frank, that is fantastic. That is obviously a labor of love and a work of art. You should be very proud. Have you shown it to the people who own and/or operate the hotel?
