  1. dgman, Thanks for the tips, this was my first attempt and I cut the backer separately, had not thought about your tip so that it would exactly match. Live and learn!
  2. First clock, this was a lot of fun.
  3. What a great cut, I am still leery of trying a portrait maybe after a few more projects.
  4. Dont worry, the blades break sooner or later. Nice looking pieces.
  5. Beautiful, great detail!
  6. Hi Jim,

Sorry I didnt get back to your question sooner.  My dust collection works well, I have the Seyco collector which I think helps a lot. That green box is a bench top unit I got from Grizzly which catches all the dust from the top of my saw. It is only a 5 micron filter hence the box fan behind with a good furnace filter catching the rest . I still wear a dust mask, being old and trying to get some more scuba in before I cant dive anymore I am probably to paranoid about the dust.

  7. Nice work, I always have that same tendency to see what I am not happy with in my finished pieces.
  8. Welcome, I have learned a lot from the friendly folks here, have fun!
  9. I finished this vase and these bird wall hangers this morning. I used bamboo for the birds and think I will use it on something else. I thought it might be hard to work with but it was easier to work than I thought. Onward through the fog.........
  10. Nice work! Glad to hear I am not the only one to turn out work slow
  11. Welcome and you will find lots of good info here, Enjoy.
  12. thanks meflick, that is where I got my pattern, sanding stuff and trouble from! I really like their titanium blades on thick hardwood, the #7 works good on purple heart.
  13. Hi Scrappile, I dont know what malfunction junction is, its possible it is here.
  14. Hi preprius, The table angle was 28 degrees, I learned a lot on that one bowl, actually I learned a lot on the one before it that went into the burn pile
  15. My first completed projects, the vase ins wenge and maple and the bowls are cherry. I figured if I was going to ruin wood I wanted it to be expensive wood. To my surprise they turned out OK.
  16. Hi all, Just getting started scrolling and found this site. I have completed a few projects-bowls,vases and I am working on my first intarsia. I think I bit of more than I can chew on the intarsia but it is slowly coming together. I have spent some time here and it is great to get all these tips. It might help to keep my mistake pile smaller! Here is a picture of my modest scroll station.
