  1. Ooooh. Space based theme.
  2. I am not an expert. So take my observations as my way of my learning. I tap and zoom into the picture and I can see the gold hilights on the frame on the beads. This takes a lot of patience and steady hands. The feather texture i can see the carvings around the edge of the head. This seams like the pet bird I had. So you caught the texture pretty well. The dark feathers on chest seem to be the hardest. I was thinking how would I capture this. I have no clue. Now that I answered my question, I zoomed out and looked at the whole scene. I seems like you captured pretty good. The shoulders do have contours and that enhances the portrait really well. Maybe the background wood could be lightly blue washed for getting the viewer to think sky. The black backing is the best to capture the 2 tone dark feather areas. It also captures the twisting of the white neck feathers. I like like it.
  3. oooo... a nice wooden dream catcher with wooden feathers. My chiropracter is native america indian. He would love those in his office.
  4. My name is Mark. During lockdown I can work from home. So I'm not retired yet. But I do have more time to play with tools. I finally looked at my scroll saw and asked when was the last time I played with that? So I decided to re-learn scolling and get better at it. So I found this place (Village) and can read great lessons learned and tips. I'm amazed at the quality of work and projects that I see here. Tools: I don't have laser or 3D printer. I do not have band saw. I do have drill press and have done some wood turning using drill press accessory. Cut off miter power saw, and power hand tools. Oh and a router table. All tools are entry level. Scroll saw is Porter Cable from Lowes. Right before lockdown I started G scale (garden) model railroads. So I have some ideas of making my own train cars with scroll saw. I turned some wood for barrels for train cargo. I can print some labels and detail some brand names for cars. Here is 1 minute video of my unique locomotive. M.E. preprius
  5. nice cuts. looks like high definition. Still a bit grainy.
  6. The trains are great. I could use some on my model train garden scale setup.
  7. This gives me an idea. Enhance the knots to items that match the scene. Im not suggesting to change this piece at all. But making the knot in bottom left into a desert tortoise is an example of my thought. If the knot was upper right it could be the moon or clouds. Is the item in the back of the wagon a gold pan? or whiskey barrel ? By the way I love this scene.
  8. Hi all, This idea came from several concepts I saw all over the net. I am terrible at straight or smooth cuts. This is going to my grandaughter who takes music lessons. I hope it gets her past traditional notes. Multi notes are a better than black and white notes. There is many problems with this piece. Terrible matching thickness of lines. etc.
