  1. interesting answers. My eyes dont see red text on black backgound. Or the other way around. Red fuzzes out and I cant read the text. I like to see green text. I have only scrolled with is black lines. With this topic I will try my preferred flourecent green or purple. Thanks for bringing up this topic. Remember the movie andromeda strain. one character got headaches with red on black. That is not me.
  2. The bee is eye catching. Just drip some honey on it and it will look sweeter. Beautiful work.
  3. I guess ocguy need to make a picture. Sorry. This just popped in my head.
  4. Back when I was young, pictures cost alot of money in a magazine. I can make a sketch if you need. Also the "fakes news" was not invented yet. But I guess this guy Clair, had a lot of vibration. So to stabilize his piece from motor vibration he built a table just above the the scroll saw. Pretty good idea. He gets to feel the cuts being made.
  5. Here is article I found that mentions floating table for scroll saws. https://www.woodworkersjournal.com/clair-bossum-fretting-intarsia/
  6. My brother mentioned Cook woods in Klamath Oregon. Anybody used them?
  7. What a relief it is. I had to zoom in the last picture to really tell. That is cool. Nice play time.
  8. i like your better than mine. I cheesed out and didnt want to order tubes. I just got drinking straws. stapled bottom. Taped the labels that came on packages on the straws and used magnets to stick them on the metal stand.
  9. Great job. There is many areas that dont have any support.
  10. these are cute. I have an idea for the center. Here is a picture of an experimental catus.
  11. Harry Chapin was a good folk singer.
  12. Yep I can sing along with all those songs. "I've got a name" is another song. An addition scrolling piece can be his guitar. Maybe a backing?
  13. I use meile in my house. It has great suction and does great on hardwood floors. The bags are expensive. The noise is much lower than other vacuums we had. If you use this, I would do a dust cyclone canister between saw and vacuum. Save alot of cost on bags. My wife would not let me use this in garage. So I have shop vacs. Me. Mark E.
  14. That is great that you used Rescue wood. Good looking barn.
  15. Thanks for the video. You make it look easy.
  16. Wow. sorry for the mis naming. I do not know how I did that. Me. Mark
  17. Is the difference between artist and craftsman the ability to draw freehand? I have been paid to do drafting with templates and writing tools that scale lettering. Iso drawing also require a 3d thinking. Some of my sketches was just as good as iso drawings. The artists were using air brushes and creating marketing pictures. Is artistry learning and trying new things? New ideas to the industry or just new to the individual might generate the term artist or innovator. Is artists just doing non-traditional crafts? These might be good discussion questions. Les, to me your flowers have many aspects of artistry. Abstract outlines of flowers, layers of wood and layers of paint. A interesting method of creating a border. The craftsmenship of scrolling allowed you to envision and try this experiment. I applaud you for being innovative, artsy and crafty. Me. Mark
  18. really nice details. It seems like a bird flew away the first picture to the 3rd picture shows 1 less bird. oh 3cm is pretty thick no wonder it took a while.
  19. Great Idea. I see this village is also about exchanging ideas. Not just "scrolling". But there are some pros (pun intented) that do both exhange ideas and perform great crafting.
  20. Nice upgrade. Think patriotism out weighs the think sky concept.
  21. He might need some advice on auto tool insertion and clamping torque. How about backup techniques for blade turning.
  22. How do you professionals do this? It would take me 60 hours to do that. That presentation is great. It can be givin out as a trophy.
  23. Wow. 2 widths of ribbon (and 2 layers purple heart?), beeaautiful (walnut?) . what did you use to cut the ribbon? blade number type? Here I go again , lots of questions. Very good. Inspiring.
  24. Ok here is my other idea that is a little bit easier. But might not look good. Since the wood chips kinda look crystals, have different colors of stains to enhance the particle / chips shapes. Only do the large ones. Then use the honey stain over everything. Maybe high gloss vs satin on big chunks might add a frost crystal effect. Oh when I did a leather project that industry had stamps for symbols including indian southwest symbols. Before I made the model train, I made a belt with that train loco embossed stamped on leather.
