My neighbor Vince is redoing his grandparents home. The home was built in 1887.
Here is a board he removed from the house. He plans on lightly sanding it and using it as a cabinet
top. This board was wider than what is shown. This is what he saved when he removed it.
I'm guessing it is 36" wide by 68" tall.
I can almost imagine the tree, a Pine, Hemlock or maybe a Spruce, a soft wood. So big, three men cannot span their arms around it. Over a 100 feet tall.
What I cannot imagine is how it was sawn. A two man saw? How long did it take?
All in all, it is the widest board I have seen.
Oh, by the way... Vince is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 320 pounds...
Notice, the board hides him.
