  1. By the way John, Carl hinted at doing searches. There have been many, many subjects covered here. You may get your questions answered by doing searches. As an example, for spiral blades, I would go to 'General Scroll Sawing' forum. In the upper right corner of SSV is a search form. Enter spiral or what you want. Simple huh? You may get your answers without posting Well, now that I think about, skip that idea 'cause then you would be leaving all up out of the loop. Larry
  2. Carl, I stand by my words," I'd be pleased if I could do that good. 'Bragging Rights' is the spot for it." Larry
  3. Curley, Larry and Moe. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah cough, cough hahahahah... whew Harrumph,,, They are cute look ing otters. Well, yes they are and the frame is nice. Sorry about that. Larry (Curley & Moe)
  4. Carl, It's good. I like the mountains best, then the log looks realistic. The bear looks good but has a little look of stone. I am not good at critiquing. Maybe a little less sheen. Larry
  5. Travis, what was the new project?
  6. Hey Roly, you and I aggree on spiral blades and I wanted to point out the major difference between spiral and straight blades. Kevin can fall asleep while he scrolls with a straight blade. love it.....can't do that with a spiral..... Larry
  7. John, Tree-men-dus. One of the best steps you could have taken. Conquerinq(or is that concoring?) the spirle blade. Seriously!!! That is great. Spelling don't mean much....Scrolling does! Larry
  8. Where's the front office? I like the finished product. Larry

Ideas, ideas, you can't handle ideas. Oh sorry, that wasn't what Jack Nickleson said. Hey, welcome Tom Crosses are easy and are beautiful. They are simple to detailed. Crosses can be a teacher in scrollsaw cutting with some of the fretwork. With a little practice, you'll be cutting a pattern of your Chevy... Larry
  12. Carl, I'd be pleased if I could do that good. 'Bragging Rights' is the spot for it. Larry
  13. The butterfly is very nice and a good job on the flower trivit. Larry

  19. This is an extension of Travis' "Wood Defects" post. In the Wood Defects post, Travis said,'Yah, I was looking for common terms that describe desirable 'defects' like burl. Not many woodworkers are looking for cupped wood. But spalted wood is highly saught after. I'm working on a new project I think many of you'll enjoy. I can't say too much right now since I'm still ironing out the bugs. Maybe you know what the new project is, but I don't. So just-in-case he still needs terms for wood characteritics, here is my list: Bear Claw Bee's Wing Birds Eye Blister Blue Stain Burl Cats Paw Crotch Curly Flame Mottle Peanut Shell Pecky (See AmazingKevins post) Quilted Rays Spalted Swirl Wormy There are some others like 'Stress'. If you want a great list with discriptions and pictures, check out Click here: wood figure terms Lots of good info at "HobbitHouse"
  20. MrsN has good advise. I don't like stains for scroll work. And like Sully stated, Just let the natural beauty show. If you need to stain, use scrap for a test run. Larry
  21. Yea, and hire an armed guard for your fridge. Got horses, their safe since Roy retired. If you live next to Kevin, don't play your music too loud. Makes him mad. Watch out for Keefie, he's a prankster. Roly? huh! He's got the bolt cutters. Dan, well, he makes coffee an' tea then leaves you all alone. Hope you're different Skip. I'd say welcome but you probably been here longer than me. This is your first post...gotta ask, how many saws have you worn out? What do you like to cut? Got anything special? Got anything like arrowheads to show? I'm sorry you live in New York ... so do I nead Binghamton. You near Rochester? Jamestown? Niagra Falls? Larry
  22. Dan, they look so simple to make. Cut the shape, a little grinding and sanding, put on a finish. Not much to it, but I'd be interested in hearing your process. Thank you. Larry
