Oh What A Week............

What a week I had last week.  Spent most of it cleaning out what I call my office, boy did it need it.  All was going well until Thursday when the bank rang me.  Some sent $2000 from  my credit card to Columbia and got themselves $250 worth of power tools from eBay.  The bank have managed to get the $250 back but not the $2000, so now it is in the hands of the Australian Federal Police.  Then in the afternoon we had Dr's appointments, and we got our 4th Astra Zenica jab, hubby's been fine, me, off my feet for 3 days.  It does not matter what vaccine I get including Flu, I'm usually off my feet for a couple of days.  They tell me that it is my body's way of telling me that it is working but does it have to be so loud......

Goodness me. I truly hope the AFP can get you your money back, find out who did this, lock them up and throw away the key.  There are some wicked people in the world.   Hope the affects of the vaccine don't last too long and you're back on your feet before too long.  Thinking of you

That is awful !   Lucky for me, my bank has caught people trying to use my card quickly and no charge to me.

Marge, I’m sorry to hear of your horrible week last week. Prayers said that you have. A more positive week. Now, the old saying is that bad things come in 3s, so between the two bad charges to your credit card, then your bad reaction to the vaccine, you got the 3 taken care of last week.

How did they gain access to your account? You should have some sort of recourse shouldn't you?

Having "been there/done that" I wish you luck in getting things sorted out.
On a related note, check to see if your savings account is linked to your checking account for overdraft protection.  If it is, you may want to have the bank sever that connection, as - if someone is able to access your checking account they might also be able to drain some/all of your savings monies.
This happened to my daughter several years ago.

The bank have now refunded the $2000 and they are sending me a new credit card.  They were very quick off the mark, to realize it was not me, so that is one thing to be very thankful for.

What a relief !!  Glad you got it sorted and hope you are recovered from the effects of the jab.  Now perhaps, life can get back to normal for you

I have a credit card that I reserve for online purchases and it has and it has a limit of $1000. Just an idea.

Well, it happened to me.  I got a text notice of a charge for about $1000 from FWRD.  This is a luxury clothing online store and we have never purchased at that type of store.  I have no idea how the bank knew to flag it.  

Bottom line is the bank declined the charge and cancelled my card and will send new cards this week. However, I need to go in and find any cards linked to the cancelled card and change them.  We keep two credit cards be cause of these kind of things.

We typically only use the cards for business we trust. Any new business, we use PayPal.

They probably flagged it because it is such a large amount from a store they have no record of you using.  That's what happened  to me, we don't use Western Union and they thought it was unusual.
