The spelling police have been out lately, so I thought I would mention one I noticed today.  Anyone that purchased the "U.S. Military Designs" book there is a spelling error on page 46, which is the Navy Veteran emblem plaque, the word Veteran is spilled incorrectly.  They spelled it VETRAN. I noticed it as I started cutting the "T"!

I also suggest you read the note on page 3  about Non-Commercial Use.  I have read this in other places also.

What kills me is when we are watching just about any news channel and that banner across the bottom of the screen where the crawler is, well, I've never seen so many spelling errors in my life. Those folks who write those messages must not have ever learned how to "proof-read". But, with the schools turning out morons today, I'm really not surprised.

They do not proof read anymore they rely on spell checkers and not all spell checkers are good.  I can reread something I typed and not see spelling errors but they are there.  Mine are not really spelling errors they are fat finger errors.  But yes I have not read a book written in the past ten years that did not have spelling or grammar errors.

Spelling errors are quite common.  Did you catch the "spilling" error in Scrappile's first post?

Tom

Shhhh 🤫😊 I suffer more from fat fingers or my computer seems to mysteriously change things  - well its more my iPad keyboard probably.  I still haven't figured out if its me or it!

My grandson in school, they no longer have spelling, like I had growing up, now this year they are not teaching writing everything is printed from iPads and laptops, RJ

And the teacher's unions are asking for more money and less time.

That is what gets me. In Washington state we pay heavy property taxes.. These taxes include school levies, police and fire/medic levies,  They always get voted in by the same people that whine and cry about taxes.  Always get voted in.  Yet, the schools get worse and worse, I do not say that about the police, and fire/medics, but i do not get to vote myself a raise every time I want something more, I do without or a workaround.  I can sorta forgive the police, fire/medics, because I benefit or may benefit from what they do, but the schools they get more for getting worse.  Someone prove to me that the education system is better today than in the 50's 60's 70's etc. We have gone from first in the world in education to 27th or less.  They should be fired, not get more.  sorry maybe political, and I know about I taalk about good education when you guy easily spell check me all the time,  but ah, well, what can I say?  I am working with one half a brain, you could easily call me a halfwit!

Where does spell checker come from.  Is it the site, the browser?  I have the worst of all.  the spell checker police on here are better for me than my spell checker on my computer.

Like you Paul I have always wondered where Spell Checker came from and who's bright idea was it!  I find it aggravating to have to go back and correct the Spell Checker.

I can't agree more. It's criminal what the unions have done. There should never be public sector unions. That was the start of the race to the bottom. And, sadly, we are winning that race. A very large sector of our young folks are ignorant and just plain dumb. Truth!

Spell checkers are part of the device software. Years ago, I spent a weekend teaching a client's software medical terms so they would not be flagged.

As for the spell check "police", I developed a knack for spotting strange looking words as a young journalist 50 years ago. It has been a blessing or bane ever since. Don't always catch everything, but I hate to post with preventable errors.

I hate autocorrect since it tries to interpret my thoughts. If I enter the letter "a" by itself, this phone comes up with some strange group of letters and automatically inserts them.

And, that is not the only example. (Just had to reset part of this line. "That" became garbled)

You should be able to turn that off.  It is interesting to see what they suggest, sometimes!

I did a stink as a Public Relations Officer and once caught a goof on a flyer we were going to send out - - - Pubic Safety Office instead of Public Safety Office.😉

No comment, just an observation.

See . . . it's just that easy 😄  Especially before my first cup of coffee.

Sometimes it's actually in the phones settings.
