Magnetic wall hanging chess set.

This is the second one I've made but I dressed this one up a bit. I used maple, cherry and Peruvian walnut.  Magnets are embedded from the back side in each square and a small one glued to the back of each piece.

Wow!  I saw and loved your first one and this one is really beautiful!  You do amazing work...I bet this took a while to make.  Did you cut out the chess pieces 2 dimensionally and then carved them?

The squares are 1 3/4" with 1/4" strips in between. The chess pieces are about 3/8" thick.

Thanks so much. The chess pieces are compound cut on my scroll saw.

Dave Are they split to a flat back that attaches to the board or left complete?

I cut the profile on the front and sides then cut the back flat so I can glue the magnet on.
