I'm sure that those of you who have followed any of my posts over the years have started seeing a change in some of my latest replies or posts. I do sincerely apologize if I offended anybody. It was not my intent, I guarantee you. There are some behind the scenes things going on in my and my wife's lives right now that have weighed heavily on both of us. The worst of which is that she fell a couple of weeks ago and broke her femur to the extent that they had to replace the ball at the top. Needless to say, a stint in the hospital is not conducive to anybody's good humor and it has weighed on me too. I'm truly sorry for my bad behavior. I'll do better.

Oh Ray I'm so sorry to hear about your wife's fall.  No, being in the hospital weighs heavily on both the patient and the family members.  Hubby has been in the hospital since Monday with a blood clot and it took them till today to get him into surgery.  Sigh!  Plus we had a snowstorm last night and the hospital is 2 hours away.  Life just really sucks sometimes.  I hope your wife has a good recovery and things can get back to normal for you both.  Hugs to you both.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. And I send the same back to you and your hubby. We are about 30 miles from the hospital but with the So Cal traffic, it might as well be 2 hours away. We had a 10 a/m appointment Tuesday and left an hour and 15 minutes early to make sure we'd be on time. Coming home it only took about 30 minutes. You never know here. The worst thing that ever happened to our civilization is the invention of the cell phone. There should be some mechanism to shut them down completely inside of an automobile. Especially the texting app.

Ray, wishing and praying for the best to both of you... I fully understand... My wife is not doing well and it is so stressful because it's a darn lot of work taking up her slack.  The more I have to do the more I realize what she always did.  I really kick myself for not seeing it and thanking her more over the years.  So us old people have to stick it out and work to help each as much as possible..  As for your bad behavior,,, I hadn't noticed I thought it was just you being you!  Just kidding!  Stay Strong.  Need to talk, call me.  we can cuss the world situation!

Thanks Paul. And you are so right about how much my wife has been doing all these years. The little things that I never saw before now I have to see and do something about. We have hardwood floors and 2 cats. Just cleaning up the mess they leave after their twice a day feeding is enough to make me evict them. Of course it doesn't help that my wife is a "clean freak" and sees dirt where there is none. Doing the laundry is something that still boggles my mind. We have matching side by side w/d and all the settings are similar to looking at the cockpit of a jetliner. I have no idea what they all mean and so I have to keep running back and forth asking for directions. I know she thinks I'm a dummy. Oh, and now, it just occurred to me that I have less than 3 weeks to renew my drivers license and here in California they have decided to do everything they can to keep us folks who have exceeded 80 years on Earth off the road. So they have created a special test for us and we HAVE to appear in person at the DMV to be tested and analyzed. Now, if I was a newly minted border runner, they'd slap one in my hand. Oh heck, there I go again. Darn!

Ray, no need to apologize you have your hands full, will keep you and your wife in our prayers. I really enjoy your post good or bad ,the scary part is i am thinking the same thing that you write in your post. Must be an age deal. Now lets see if Kyle can finish the race near the top this week,  the race is in Texas about 60 miles from me, but will watch from my living room, take care, RJ

I get you, I really do. I'm set to turn 65 in June, so all the tests and dealing with full SS is kicking in for me.

Since Jan I've had

Tooth extraction due to an abscess forming, took about three weeks to heal, instead of one

new hearing aids, the old ones just weren't working with the new phone.

Urologist, still waiting for approval of a new (very expensive) treatment

Colonoscopy; ECG abnormal (still waiting to hear about this)

xray of upper back and neck. Two trips to the hospital instead of one because of paperwork snafu.

Dermatologist; three biopsies, two  benign, one precancerous , stitches out for biopsy, in next week for more freezing

Bone scan; went to wrong part of hospital "campus"  right location is 1/2 mile away and I'm walking.

Next week is an MRI of my neck to see how bad it is and what (if anything) can be done about it.

And on and on it goes. Makes for a lot of frustration and short temper, I'm afraid some days that I'll bite my tongue off.

So sorry for your plight. Far worse than mine. Hang in there friend.

Ray--

No need for apologies. You're dealing with enough at home and if you happen to step on someone's toes here, they can howl, but everyone with half a brain will understand.

Best wishes for a speedy, complete recovery on the hip.

Much appreciated.

Ray,

Sorry to here about your wife's fall. My mom fell and broke her hip at age 74. She recovered and after a while she was not using her walker. She was going to physical therapy for over 3 years. It was really was a scocial event at a small hospital. This time dad did not join her.  Dad usually joined her.  She was turning left into the physical therapy place and a big truck rear ended her.  Trucker was texting on phone. Speed zone was 35, trucker was doing 70.  Too many injuries for her to recover. She was 77.  Accident was 8 years ago.

So help your wife out as much as possible. Join her at therapy. Help her smile a bit more when ever possible.

Keep us informed. As you see fit.

Me. Mark Eason

Ray, so sorry to hear about your wife, hoping for a speedy recovery.

We all have things going on in our lives and we understand.

Speaking of which, and about you having to go to the DMV in person to renew your license at age 80, I had to do the same thing here in Texas at the same age.  I thought Texas was supposed to be more laid back about such things than California.

Collusion between DMVs and insurance companies? Maybe?
