Frank Pellow Posted October 28, 2024 Report Posted October 28, 2024 (edited) Previously this thread was entitled 'What am I cutting', but I've changed the title now that that question has been answered. What am I cutting? I've done this before here and it was fun. Here is a picture of the back side of a panel that I have started to cut: I purchased the pattern for this item from a well-known designer and I really have two questions. What is the subject of the piece and who is the designer? Edited November 27, 2024 by Frank Pellow My question has been answered. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Wichman Posted October 28, 2024 Report Posted October 28, 2024 Ok 064 knot by Alex Fox? OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I just went to Alex's web-site and looked at the pattern you mentioned. I see how what I have sawn so far could easily be from that pattern - but it is not. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted October 28, 2024 Report Posted October 28, 2024 I think it is a sea turtle. I am not sure the designer. I was going to say Steve Good, but you mentioned you had purchased it. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

But, I have to say that you are wrong. Edited October 28, 2024 by Frank Pellow typos barb.j.enders 1 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted October 28, 2024 Report Posted October 28, 2024 Not sure what is happening here. Is this a guessing game and you know the answer or do you not know the answer and looking for help. I think the first being you are showing us the back and not the pattern. Have no guesses but good luck. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

As you surmise, I am showing you the back and not the pattern. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

don in brooklin on Posted October 29, 2024 Report Posted October 29, 2024 I have a few illusions and love them. I saw this some time ago and really thought about it but this looked too complex for me. Look forward to final project. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Don doesn't live far from me, so guess I will invite out to lunch on me. Don, it's a while since I've seen you. Would you like to meet for lunch some time in November? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Frank Pellow Posted October 30, 2024 Author Report Posted October 30, 2024 I'm actually working simultaneously on three separate Chares Dearing patterns. In addition to 'Wire Frame Rings', I've purchased: I'm cutting all three out of 10 inch square and 6mm thick Baltic Birch plywood panels and will frame them identically. Frank Pellow Posted October 31, 2024 Author Report Posted October 31, 2024 I've made good progress cutting 'Wire Frame Rings'. Now, I'm thinking ahead to the backing for this piece. There are three rings and I've decided to paint the background behind each one in a different colour. Right now, I've simulated the painting using construction paper. I like the effect and I like the colours that I have chosen. Please let me know what you think. JJB, ChelCass, Scrappile and 3 others 6 Quote

Jim McDonald Posted October 31, 2024 Report Posted October 31, 2024 I love Charlie's patterns, but they are a bit taxing for my attention span. Big old congrats on taking on three at a time. That is true dedication. Frank Pellow and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted October 31, 2024 Report Posted October 31, 2024 An "off-subject" question....what do all of you folks do with your finished wall hangers? I've stayed away from that stuff because I don't know what I'd do with all of it. My wife would never hang any of what I've seen you talented scrollers create. I'm more into things that have some practical use. I'm just curious so have to ask. Scrappile 1 Quote

The walls and windows (I also do stained glass) in my house and my cabin hold a lot of "art", not only mine but from other family members, friends, and items that I've purchased. I have always been able to find room for one more thing and, if I run out of wall space, there is always the ceiling OCtoolguy, barb.j.enders and ChelCass 2 1 Quote
