Allen levine Posted June 18, 2025 Author Report Posted June 18, 2025 my wife doubled the pattern size just now for me,,,,its alot of pages to tape together but Ill try to start tomorrow and stack cut 2 more as I know some of the relatives and friends want one of these for holidays, holiday stuff goes over well, I never get stuck with any, but then again, I never charge anyone, but I get alot of dinners paid for so IM happy with that. I appreciate and it makes me feel good when someone admires something i make, no matter how silly small or simple. and I never mind giving away something that doesnt cost me alot of money to make, barb.j.enders 1 Quote

If you have a printer capable of printing 11 x 17 sheets then your patterns can be up to 10 1/2" wide ( compensating for 1/4" margins. If you create a page size of 24 x 36" and leave a 1/4" margin, you can take the file to OfficeMax and have them print the file for about $1 per ft. You could fit a lot of nested patterns within that space and just cut them apart vs taping pages together... just saying. Quote

Allen levine Posted June 19, 2025 Author Report Posted June 19, 2025 So I used 3/8 fir ply for back on larger ones stack cut 2 and the only headaches I had was cutting the plywood back part tree had a miscut or two but I'll rasp it a bit before sanding and painting also didn't have wide cherry so I cut that part in 2 pieces will glue together during assembly here's the original one I made yesterday so the size difference can be seen too hot today to sand and paint I'm totally bushed and probably isn't smart for me to be out here at this time hot and humid a friend of mine wanted all three I told him you can't afford me anymore anotjer buddy whom I've known for 60 years asked me last night if I had a cutting board laying around he needed one after 50 years he finally tossed his i only had one wanted to keep it for me since it's a flag board but he gets it Scrappile, artisanpirate, BadBob and 2 others 5 Quote

Allen levine Posted June 27, 2025 Author Report Posted June 27, 2025 I thought I'd be busy for a few days but I finished off the cutting just now of this doll cradle still needs sanding and fine sanding then glue up alot of cutting ended up using a 3 blade because of all the tight turns broke one blade all pieces are 1/2 inch i increased the pattern by 25 percent but think I should have went to 50 percent since a lot of dolls are 12 inches or more nothing is glued or sanded in this pic just put together so my wife can quilt a mattress and blanket I used what I had Spanish cedar and poplar when I get back from vacation I'm going to place a big wood order and possibly order some exotics online BadBob, Wichman, Scrappile and 1 other 4 Quote
