Popular Post MarieC Posted July 1, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted July 1, 2025 I saw something similar on the internet but I didn't like the Sasquatch so I drew my own and made 2 of them to support the phone. The wood is redwood burl and the base is pine. By the way, our college mascot is Bigfoot. Question: I am going to be teaching a beginner class and I was thinking of giving them this to do following some basic exercises (wavy lines, corners, etc). I figured the pattern is pretty forgiving since he is a hairy beast so if the lines get squiggly, it won't matter much. I will cut and router the base for them ahead of time. Would love to hear what you think... TAIrving, JackJones, JTTHECLOCKMAN and 9 others 12 Quote
RabidAlien Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 Love it, and love the idea!! Something practical to make to remember the class by, instead of just some random heart-shape thing that'll get lost a week later. Jim McDonald, barb.j.enders and MarieC 2 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 Looks good. And a great idea for the class. MarieC 1 Quote

Charlie E Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 I like it! And totally agree it’s a good, forgiving project for beginners. I heard a comedian say, “I believe Bigfoot is blurry. It’s not the photographers fault.” MarieC 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 (edited) Being they are only cutting the Sasquatch, maybe give other options to use it for, like refrig magnet, wall hanger, pen holder, or picture stand, you know, some of us old diehards do not have cell phones, to be held . That is a great looking Sasquatch. Edited July 1, 2025 by Scrappile JTTHECLOCKMAN, Roberta Moreton and MarieC 2 1 Quote

don in brooklin on Posted July 2, 2025 Report Posted July 2, 2025 After my students do an ornament, key tag, and the phone holder. I have then change blades and cut the shelf sitter in hard maple. It is the most popular item. MarieC, barb.j.enders and TAIrving 2 1 Quote

Thanks Don, I am also planning on including that little guy as well or something like that (I just ordered the book that has that in it). Thank you again! Quote
Denny Knappen Posted July 2, 2025 Report Posted July 2, 2025 I agree with most everyone. I also teach and for beginners, straight lines and curves are most difficult. This would be a great project. MarieC 1 Quote
Roberta Moreton Posted July 2, 2025 Report Posted July 2, 2025 I also teach beginners, this is an excellent project! MarieC 1 Quote
