Popular Post barb.j.enders Posted October 1, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted October 1, 2025 I have a friend whose daughter-in-law raises pigs for butchering. Butcher day is the 18th when we will be getting our half. Thought I would do a quick project for her. I used some leftover cedar from our front deck. Finish is beeswax/mineral oil blend meflick, TAIrving, flarud and 21 others 24 Quote

jerry walters Posted October 1, 2025 Report Posted October 1, 2025 Wow Barb, that is great. Growing up I belonged to 4H. My first project was a pig. I was about 8 years old. She was gentle. Thanks for renewing a memory for me. Jerry barb.j.enders 1 Quote

We use a brown sugar/black pepper dry brine first. Leave it sit for 7 - 10 days, then smoke for a few hours. Dry overnight and slice. There will also be Italian sausage meat and jalapeno/cheddar smokies made. Jim McDonald 1 Quote

I was great right up until the jalapeño cheddar sausage. But, individual tastes vary--so enjoy them. barb.j.enders 1 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted October 3, 2025 Author Report Posted October 3, 2025 I posted the photo to my Instagram page and I was asked how much? The issue was it is a relative of the recipient of the gift, so I had to say it wasn't available. I added who I was gifting it to and was concerned she was doing the same. I offered to make another one. I haven't heard back from her but I did make another. scrollerpete 1 Quote
heppnerguy Posted October 6, 2025 Report Posted October 6, 2025 cute one. You are really into the intarsia. I started my scrolling doing intarsia and after several years started to scroll and liked it even more because is does not take so long and is a little cheaper also. I have really enjoyed watching you try different ideas on your scroll saw and how much you obviously enjoy each step on this journey. Keep up the great work. Dick heppnerguy Quote

Dick heppnerguy Thanks Dick, It has certainly been an interesting journey. I do enjoy each step. I still do "other" styles because it is not as expensive and there is a more immediate reward. heppnerguy 1 Quote
