I just joined this community today, after hearing about it on Lumberjocks... I am a long-time member there but don't care for their format anymore...

Am also a long-time Scroll Saw user! Bought my first (a no-name brand that I still have) in the early "90's...

Did a LOT of cutting with that one using patterns from the old Spiellman collections... But, as is usual with progress and skill development, started to make my own patterns later...

It must be mentioned, that I'm stubbornly old-fashioned, and still use paper and pencil for designing! I use Carbon Paper for transfers, paper to wood, just like it used to be done...

It works for me...

Made many signs for people and places (some found their way all the way to Guatemala!)...

About 12 years ago I upgraded and bought a used Dewalt which is now my primary saw...

I've had a life-time love of Woodworking of all kinds, but have found the Scroll Saw to be the most versatile and genuine fun machine I have...

Thank You for allowing me to join and I look forward to an agreeable association with this site and it's enthusiasts!

Nice projects you show there.

Welcome to the village. We normally say ask alot of questions.  But with you I request more pictures. It looks like I and villagers can learn new tips and tricks from you.

I also agree that scrollsaw is very versatile tool.

I started with a cast-iron 16-inch AMT scroll saw 40+ years ago. It cut great and very smooth, but changing the blades was a pain. Anything with internal cuts took forever. For a while, I had an older Hawk and an Excalibur EX-21 (Taiwan) in the shop. I did a test using the same blade and the same wood on all three saws. The AMT saw made smoother cuts than any of the other two by a large margin. However, the ease of blade changes and the fixed table with a tilting head won out. Today I have both my old EX-21 and a Pegas saw. I gave the AMT away and sold the Hawk.

Thank You all very much for your kind greetings and thoughts...

I have boxes full of things that I scrolled many years ago...

This doesn't account for all that I gave away over the years and what is hanging around our house!

I'll probably show some of that work but mostly just to demonstrate different techniques... I'd rather do new things and try to show not only the how-to, but also the why-for as I work along...

Next up, I would like to work on a small sign to share the experiences I've had making them... My hope is, is that it can help some of you with at least a new perspective...

Again, Many Thanks for the Warm Welcome I've been shown here!

It is very much appreciated!

Michael C.
