  5. Excellent job Jim
  6. Thanks everyone for the comments, just about finished with the woman golfer, so i will be postjng that soon. Then on to applying the finish.
  7. Thanks Kevin. There is 92 pieces in this one. I had to chase a couple small pieces a few time when the sander flung them.
  8. LOL, Thanks Paul, actually there will be two, two different golfers though. Hopefully I don't get a hole in one
  9. Glad to hear you are going to give intarsia a try. I was always afraid to try it, but once I did I got hooked. Now several years later it is my favorite thing to do in the shop.
  10. great job on patterns and cuttings
  11. excellent cutting.
  12. This is part one of two intarsia projects that have been ordered. It's all complete just need to apply the finish, but I'm waiting until I get the second one finished(a woman golfer). The pattern is by Judy Roberts. wood used was, quarter sawn sycamore, aspen, bass, walnut, elm, and maple. I will post another picture of when I get the finish put on.
  13. I did use a roller and squeeze bottle applicator and roll on the entire back of the cutting, now I use a foam brush and dab glue on the back. I stack cut so I do them all and stack them back up with the backer glue on and put some sort of weight on top until glue dries. Sometimes I put a couple of small drops of CA glue on, just to hold it until the wood glue dries. I use tightbond 3 wood glue for everything.
  14. I have a Facebook page just for my crafts. I have sold a few items from it, but most of my sales are by word of mouth and repeat customers
  15. well done. And thanks for posting a picture. It's always rewarding to see one of your patterns cut.
  16. I do the same as Dick and always have. I have never had a problem. A little mineral spirits on the paper will peel it right off, and a little more on the wood will remove any glue residue left over. Saves me time and the added expense of buying painters tape all the time.
  17. I have been buying my Flying Dutchman blades from the Wooden Teddy Bear for several years now and haven't had any problems.
  18. Looks great Marg. I spend most of my time doing intarsia, it's what I enjoy the most. I done that motorcycle too, it was a little challenge. The more you do the better you will become. I'm happy to see you finally took the chance on intarsia.
  19. congrats Dick. I really like those signs, I'm gonna have to check out that tutorial. We have a couple selling sites here on facebook as well, but mostly clothes on them. Dick the tutorial for those signs is it part of the inkscape or gimp tutorials in the university?
  20. Don't buy blades from the big box stores. They are cheaper online and better selection. I only use Flying Dutchman blades now. I used to use olsens too but like the way the FD blades cut. There are a few places online to buy them, I order mine from the http://www.woodenteddybearonline.com/x/home.php?cat=550. You can mix and match blades to get the gross pricing. In fact I just placed and order for 2 gross with a mixture the most of one blade size being 7 dozen. I order from the wooden teddy bear mainly because I buy other supplies and sometimes a pattern I see that I just can't live without. Another place is https://www.mikesworkshop.com/blades.htm lots of people use Mike for blades. I use the scroll reverse blades in sizes #5 & #7 mainly, but do smaller sizes to like 2/0, 1, 3 and bigger # 9. I use the 5 & 7 for cutting hardwoods for intarsia, the 5 works well for me for scrolling in 1/8" BB (I do stack cut though) the smaller blades are nice for those thin interior cuts.
