I still like the blue painters tape and 3m77 spray glue but, temperature and
humidity makes a huge difference.
Spray the glue as think as possible while still getting complete coverage
and let the glue tack up for about 60 seconds or so but, make sure the wood and the can of glue are both warm.
If it is cold and damp here, I take the wood and glue can into the house to come to room temperature
and then glue it up in the shop. (I'm frugal, I won't heat the shop just to warm up the can of glue! LOL)
Hopefully one of the tips you got will work out so you know what works best for you.
