  1. Well Bobby, your cutting experience with pexli is a whole lot different then mine is. I cut at a lot slower pace when cutting plexi, most people do. It is common knowledge that the plexi will melt/weld itself back together, if cut at to high of a speed. For me, when I cut plexi, I cut a a much slower pace then normal. Because if I don't, the plexi will bond itself back together. When I cut plexi, I use a skip tooth blade usually a #5 blade. I could cur it with a #3 blade, but, the #5 leaves a little better kerf width. And that, helps to stop the plexi from bonding back together. If possible it is best to leave the protective plastic on the plexi-glass, it helps lubricate the cut. I work mostly with plexi-glass mirror stock, rather then just clear plexi. So, I've never had the need to frost the glass. But, I have seen it done two different ways. The first way is to use a random orbital sander, it does a descent job but it takes a bit of time. The faster way to do it, is to sand-blast it. It's messier, but it does the job a lot faster. Len
  2. Ron, Merry Christmas to you and yours also. Len
  3. Eddie, Merry Christmas to you and yours also. Len
  4. Nice sign, it could pertain to most of us. Len
  5. Merlin, I'm sure that if you contact Steve himself, he will make the change for you. Len
  6. I'm using wood and antler, I made one with White-tailed deer antler prong. The other was made using a piece of black and white ebony, I liked it the bet of the two pens. As for pictures, I would love to be able to post pictures, but my service provider won't let me post pics. It's a very poor satellite system, and when I try to load pictures it just times out. I'm so used to not being able to post pictures, that I don't even bother to take pictures of my work any longer. I've complained and complained time and again, but there just doesn't seem to be anything they can do to improve my service. That's why I feel guilty about asking someone else to post a picture, it feels like I'm being hypocritical. Len
  7. Thanks Rusty, I didn't plan or think I'd make this kind of money off of my pens. It's just that this buyer works in the oil fields, and he makes all kinds of money. He's a nice guy, and he doesn't mind sharing his wealth. He thinks he can stir up more sales for me, once he shows the pens off. I hope so, it would be nice to get the business. Len
  8. Nicely done Don, it should be a popular piece. Len
  9. Don, you better start making more right away, your family members will surely be impressed with these beauties. Your all set now, whenever you have some spare cutting time you cant cut 3-D ornaments. Cause there's no way that they aren't going to just love the way they look. They would make a nice gift, my niece asked me to make her a few scroll sawn ornaments for her Christmas gift. She stated that she would rather have them, then anything I could buy for her. I figure your family members will feel the same way, they will want the 3-D ornaments over anything yu could buy them. Len
  10. Nicely done Steve, your neighbor should be both pleased and impressed. Len
  11. Randy, thanks for posting this interesting news, I doubt that I would have heard of it for some time. With them coming out with a saw of their own like this, I'm surprised that they took on the new Jet brand of saw. This new saw is quite interesting, I would like to get a better picture of the blade clamps. Len
  12. Me either, and surprisingly enough, he called me just a few hours ago and ordered three more at the same price. It's amazing that I can get that kind of money, for something that is so quick and easy to make. He said he would like to have them for Christmas, if that was possible. I told him I would have them ready for him by tomorrow afternoon, he was surprised that I could get them made so fast. Len
  13. Kevin, I'm a bit disappointed in you with this posting, I never thought that you would give out sub-par work. If the piece you dropped and broke was supposed to be a piece he ordered, then you owe it to him to cut another one. Giving it to him for free doesn't wash in my book, he obviously wanted it to give to someone or have it to show. I doubt that he wants something that isn't just so, especially if its for showing other people. Plus, don't forget, it will carry your name, do you want people to think that it is the best you can do? I'm pleased as punch that you're getting the extra work, but, do you think people will keep buying if your work is sub-par? If you can't or don't want to cut him another one, don't give him the sub-par one. That's not what he wanted, and he'll probably just discard it if the mistakes are noticeable. Stop and think for a moment. If it was you, would you want a marriage plaque that was sub-par? Something that you want to display with pride, I know I wouldn't. You can do better, slow down and take your time and do things right. Yes I know you have issues, but that's no reason to put out sub-par work. OK I'm sorry, I'll get off of my high horse, it's just that you made me a bit cross with what you posted. I know you can do better, and I think that you do also. And here's something to keep in mind, customers won't return for sub-par work.. Len
  14. Roly, your a master of all trades, your burning, scrolling and turning work is amazing. Len
  15. Too cute Don, I really like the filthy animal one. It reminds me of the Home Alone movie, I'm not familiar with the other saying. Len
  16. Nicely done Rusty, both pieces look great. I made and sold a pen identical to yours last week, I sold it for $100.00. I was surprised that the fellow paid that much for it, he asked me how much I wanted for it. And I told him that I would like to get at least $80.00 out of it, and that they were selling for more then that out west. He said no problem and handed me a $100.00 bill, and he said to keep the change. This was the first pen that I ever got that kind of money out of, I was pleased to say the least. He says that he might be back to buy the second one I made, it has a white tailed deer antler handle blank. Len
  17. More outstanding work Dave, it sure looks like you've been busy. I have an issue with the Whiteheads one though. You have it as The Whitehead the 3rds, I think it should read, The Whiteheads the 3rd. Len
  18. Paul, thanks for sharing this video with us, I enjoyed watching how you do things. That looks like it will be a dandy shelf, a bit fancy for a workshop though. Len
  19. Bruce, if this is the results of just fooling around, then, I can hardly wait to see what you can do once you get serious. This is an outstanding plaque, you daughter should be more then pleased. Len
  20. Nicely done Ron, how large is it? Len
  21. Nicely done Thomas, being a Charles Dearing pattern it's bound to look good. Len
  22. Don, for me, it all depends on how it's going to look. If it looks as if it will be an improvement, then I'll change the blade. If it looks like it won't make a difference, then I don't bother changing blades. Len
  23. Not a problem Dave, I think we've all done this. Len
  24. Dan, as always, nicely done. These will be nice lawn decorations, and I'm sure they will be a good conversation starter. Len
  25. Nice looking cutting Kevin, it's nice that you have a new customer. Len
