  1. sorry Kevin I did not think to look at the bragging rights. they are very nice and it is well worth the look. Well done my friend.
  2. Just wondered if anyone could identify this wood grain. Is it by chance like pine. Hope the attachment works. not good at this. I will be making something for a crib which is the same grain. they are asking to have done in pine. and they will paint themselves but I suspect it will be stained.
  3. yeah yeah yeah but where is the pictures. Today is yesterdays tomorrow. I understand you forgot.
  4. Thanks for you help. I am getting old now because I looked on Scrollsaw woodworking and crafts and found the Fall 2006 issue and the cover had a inlay leaf box which I knew I brought with me. I found I did not put all my mags. in the same place. I tried to make the whale today was a disaster will have to think it through and try again. Hate getting older specially in the head
  5. I know this puzzle was done by Carl Herd-Rutter and was in the Scrollsaw Woodworking and Crafts in Fall of 2006. At that time I did cut out a couple but unfortunately I can not find the pattern. I got looking for it because I saw the pattern with more in depth procedure of cutting it out recently numbering each cut. Since I had some difficulty with the original and was not proud of the cut or fit. So I wanted to try it again. Unfortunately I can not find the pattern I made a copy of and saved, can not find where I saw the more in depth instructions and I moved and this is one magazine I sold off to not take so much with me and the pattern was in the magazine but not in the center pull out which I kept. Any thoughts of how I may proceed to find another one to try.
  6. Well done Dan, If you can't use it my birthday is coming up tomorrow actually. Born in Fulton......... NY
  7. all I have to say is let er rip
  8. I generally wash with soap and warm water then let it wear off and remember not to pick your nose or your finger may stick to the nose. General the wash and rubbing with paper towel well get it gone.
  9. Nick name Dan here, Clown name Grampa Sawdust given to me by my daughter when I did a little clowning few years ago and that stuck.
  10. I got it from Rockler and Woodcraft price is close either store

  12. I use the dead man style and sit. after many years it is second nature now and don't even think about it just automatic.
  13. You will enjoy that wood find and will have many uses for it. A friend of mine probably a good ten years ago invited me to his shop and had some wood he would not use all of to small too thin he was a larger product maker. I got many many many broke down drawers various sizes and length but all oak. I am still using the wood now I have about 15 five inch square pieces left. Oh it was all red oak. I also scored literally hundreds of doles various sizes Love friends and free wood. I found so many different things to do with the Oak so enjoy and put on your creative cap
  14. But his feet show it because their Longfellows
  15. I use the loctite also and think I get it at walmart. I use the 200 which works best for me. I used the 100 not quite strong enough for me and 300 too much.
  16. A few years ago my Daughter had friends who were going to Ireland as missioners and they had shared with her a photo of there crest in Ireland where their ancestors are from and she thought it would be nice if I could make it in wood. So I looked it over and thought maybe but I don't do patterns so I asked at the Scrollers Cafe and was able to get a pattern. It was quite a cut. It had the Lion on it Ireland top and there name bottom with folage around the out side. and Some kind of weapons I think. Anyway that is the only one I have done and never had any other requests in the 20 years I have scrolled. I do have a Crest for my family which I will look at making a pattern for my dad and hope to do it soon. He will be 96 in March and is doing OK but you never know.
  17. Looks nice Runa what is the measurements. I could see it holding a table center piece or small flower pot or decorative cloth with something on it. would it sell that depends on finding the right market and people
  18. I have the Pattern from Great American Scrollsaw Down loadable Patterns, The Berry Basket Copyright 2002. The Berry Basket I did think like you was in Cherry Tree as well or may be WTB. It may have been bought by someone over the years. Hope this helps
  19. may have some pricing considerations with increased competition. If your a veteran home depot gives 10 % off on purchases. then with a stand too. Rockler has the 1 yr and 2 year warranty which seems a little pricey to me.
  20. awesome venture and great looking toys.Well done
  21. Experience is the best teacher. Advise given is very good to have. I am sure you would be surprised at what we all started with. I had a dremel scroll saw with 2 speeds boring slow and scary fast and with pin end blades. With pin no making little holes to get through so i started with cutting out perimeter patterns cats. Bears small praying kids I am sure you have seen those patterns and the inside cuts had to be large to get the blade through but could do some veining if cutting from the big cut out inside cut. Painted some. Started on boring slow graduated to scary fast and then moved on to Dewalt 788 and never looked back. Enjoy your trip it is well worth it.
  22. Congrats on the present. Let us know how it works for you with pictures.
  23. I had my Dewalt tilted at first seemed to be the thing to do for many years and it worked well for me. Then I got a EX 21 and left it flat and liked that better to flattened out the Dewalt also and sit with foot pedal on both and have close together and use them at the same time doing twice the work in half the time. OK OK I do have the saws down flat the rest was just feelings of grandeur. I think it is mainly what you are comfortable with.
  24. That is a interesting question I had not thought about when I recently moved to NC and will close in 17 days not counting. Packing up I did go through my magazines Wood, and scroll saw. Some I kept and others I took to Half Price book store and sold them to the store. This is a store that buys books, dvd's , CD's etc then resells. Obviously you don't get paid a lot but is is more then sending them to the dump. They seem to not have a problem with it. As to the patterns many I kept and took them out before selling. All the scroll patterns. Wood not so much. It did not cross my mind that copy wright may be an issue. For that answer I would ask a attorney who knows.
  25. I will add my thanks to the fellow Veterans and thank you one and all who served and fought so I have the rights that are so important to our democracy. I particularly take this time to give praise to God that I still have my father alive and well. I value his advise and his mentoring. At the age of 95 he still gives great advise which I take. He is able to live on his own but moved in with my niece to help her out. He is a disabled Veteran as he says a 100 percenter He came home as a Staff Sgt with a bronze star, and 2 purple hearts. On his behalf and my own you are welcome. Capt. US Army Nurse Corps. 1971-1983
