  1. English Springer Spaniels.
  2. When I was doing fairs I had 2 saws that I took depending on whether there was electric or not. If electric was available then it was a Delta 40-560 stood on workmate type stand, no electric then it was a Hobbies A1 treadle saw. Used to do 1 demo per month. Either was just loaded up in the car along with everything else.
  3. If the old one is still working transfer the font folder to a thumb drive and then reinstall on the new one.
  4. If you click the scroll wheel the pointer changes to a circle with a dot in the centre and an up and down arrows in it. You then move the mouse either up or down away from the position where you clicked the wheel and the page will automatically scroll in that direction, the further up or down you go the faster the page scrolls, this will happen until you press the scroll wheel again.
  5. Paul, I think that Brimarc were the distributors for Jet but I've heard that now it's Axminster, you could try them but being as it's an Excalibur clone maybe parts from Axminster saws will fit your Jet.
  6. There's one that Mahendra did, It might be in the Library. This is my adaptation of it that I did for myself, I added the names and date, yes we've been married that long.
  7. I've cut 1/8" aluminium, brass and steel with ordinary Niqua non reverse tooth blades. They wear out quicker cutting the aluminium and brass than with cutting wood but cutting the steel they wore out at an exceptional rate. It's a good job I have a load of them that are at least 20 years old (bought at the same time as my saw) and just needed to use them up.
  8. Could be Calligrapher font.
  9. I resize my portraits to 250mm x 200mm which is now a very common frame size, then they will also fit the 10" x 8" picture frames which are a fraction bigger.
  10. The grommet came out of my 560, I've not replaced it and still use it. I think it's purpose is to stop the blade tensioner rattling when there's no tension.
  11. I'm not bothered what they do with anything bought off of me, as long as they pay the asking price.
  12. A block of wood, holes drilled in to take old Steradent tubes. The arrow at the corner is the bade being used.
  13. Axminster Tools, Turners Retreat, Amazon and ebay would be a start. There will be other suppliers as well.
  14. Brenda, If the pin is a solid steel one then you could try putting a spring roll pin in. My Delta has them and they don't come out, in fact they take some getting out when needed to be removed. You can get all sizes from most suppliers even Aldi and Lidl have packs of them in now and again and cost pennies, I'm sure if you measured the length and diameter of the original pin you'll find one to fit. Steve
  15. Kevin, because the dog wouldn't let me cut anything, he jumped up and kept trying to get his toy and I couldn't see what I wanted to cut.
  16. I have a 40-560 with a replacement belows, made from the dogs squeaky toy, with the squeaker removed.
  17. Brenda, If you have a laser printer then you can iron on the pattern. You have to print in reverse then apply print side down on the wood the same as you're doing now but then rub over with a hot iron.
  18. Nice cutting Brenda, did you use a smaller blade for it?
  19. Brenda, yes Niqua give their blade types names, such as Pebeco are standard non reverse teeth, Speed are reverse tooth blades etc. I now mainly use the Speed blades unless I'm cutting something that doesn't warrant the reverse cut, ie. compound cutting, or metal and plastics. A 2012 Niqua catalogue in PDF form you can have a look at. Niqua_Katalog_Holzlaubsaegen.pdf
  20. Brenda, if you want to stick with Niqua and buy in the UK then try Original Marquetry, http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/category_Fret_Saw_Blades_1.htm they have a wide range but postage could be expensive. or HegnerUK, https://www.hegner.co.uk/products/spares-accessories/scrollsaw-bla or Hobbies sell 2/0 blades but are out of sock in the gross bundle. https://www.hobbies.co.uk/tools/power-tools/yellow-label-fretsaw-b I have used all 3 but have settled with HegnerUK for the time being. If you don't mind buying from the USA then Mikes Workshop, they're called Flying Dutchman blades but are in fact Niqua blades renamed by Mike Moorlach for the American market. https://mikesworkshop.com/collections/blades
  21. Brenda, the large blade size does have something to do with the breakout as does the drill bit. When drilling holes, especially when they are close together, I always use a 1mm bit and make sure it's sharp, light pressure when drilling and that the ply is hard down on a piece of sacrificial piece of wood, also when I cut a single piece of 1/8th BB ply I usually use a 2/0 or a No.1 blade, nothing larger.
  22. Brenda, I always dip and return what's left to the tin, never had a problem with it going off prematurely even after months of not using it. What size tin are you using Brenda? I currently use Wilko's Danish Oil in 1litre tins at £11. Screwfix have half litre tins at £5.59
  23. When my blower packed in on my saw, I used a dogs squeaky toy (with the squeak removed) stuck the pipe into the hole and fastened it under the bottom arm. If you do this and it's your dog's toy, don't let the dog see you do it, it'll be all over the workshop and bench like a rash. Don't ask why I know this.
