  1. That was another thing I read in the reveiws of the newer Fein... and exactly why I have not bought one of those... They are cheaper than a Festool and an older model one ( at a good price ) I would look at.. but the new ones... NOPE..
  2. I don't think I've ever used a spiral blade without stack cutting.. so yes.. spirals work well for stack cutting as any other blade would.. the trick to that will be to use the proper size blade to the type of material cutting.. as with any flat blade.. I will say though.. I run a smaller blade on spirals than I do in a flat blade... I've never used a larger blade than a #1 with spirals... actually I have used a #3 but I found the larger the blade the more rounded the detailed fine point cutouts get... and the rougher the edges of the cuts get.. so I almost always use a number 2/0 or a 1.. usually I stack cut 3-5 pieces of 1/8" BB ply just for a reference for you.. Where I normally would use a #3 or 5 flat blade.. my flat blades are normally either FD- ultra reverse or Pegas Modified Geometry.. or your reference.. Glad to see you're getting a good jump start on the Christmas stuff... since you enlarged it and running into the small issues along the way... hoping you're able to finish it before you're too late for this years Christmas
  3. You have one of the nicer older vacs that are both quieter and better filtration than the new ones.. There are some not so great reviews on the newer ones from owners of the older model that needed to replace the old one for one reason or another.. It's too bad a company compromises quality for price competition.. when you add the necessities for a "Good" dust filtration the price of the fein is right in line with the Festool.. Many complaints on the new ones about the canister fitment being pretty sloppy and not sealing up will etc.. I've been keeping my eye out for one like yours..and have found some at $350 ish which is steep in my opinion for a old vac that who knows how long parts would be available... Maybe I'm just a cheap skate.. but I'd rather spend the $500 for the festool or buy this little system from Seyco.. then to spend 250+ for one of these older ones that who knows how much use and abuse it's had.. You got a steel on yours!!
  4. This is the one I have... but mine came with lights, book on photography and several backdrops..along with a suit case.. large nice suit case.. almost better than the one we use for traveling LOL.. But it's quite old and I always just left it popped up and ready.. but doing so over the years had collected quite a lot of dust that I couldn't get cleaned off it very well even after washing it in the washing machine.. This cardboard box set up actually works a lot better than that thing did anyway.. Maybe the cloth was too dense as the lighting was never all that great.. but seems great with the box and tissue paper..The poster board I bought was a nicer plastic / vinyl and wipes of and washes well... I just need to make it about the size of my old setup. 2x2 foot cube.. https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Shooting-Diffusion-Backdrops-Photography/dp/B00GKGGICC/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=photo+box&qid=1579222075&sr=8-15
  5. You might check and see, as if I recall the reviews mentioned reviews from both iPhones and android users. I’ve used both over the years, and don’t have any preferences of one over the other. More about whatever one is got the best deal. I buy the phones from either Walmart or Straighttalk and avoid the contract phones. Since I buy the phones and I’m not rich yet, I buy old phones cause the are cheap, lol
  6. One thing I’ve thought a lot about between the seyco vac system and the fein / festool is, the seyco is mounted right on the saw stand which is small and out of the way BUT it also puts it right near the saw where you get to hear it up close and personal, The fein / Festool can be several foot away from you. Guess it’s a pros and cons and decide what is more important space or sound lol.
  7. I do the videos from my iphone.. Did some research for free apps and the one that was highly recommended was Prism Live.. It's super easy to work with so far.. I've only played around just a couple videos but so far I like it.. and Free is Awesome, LOL
  8. Look how fast I'm cutting.. but also how fast I change the blade out to the next spot, Hahahah.. Just downloaded a video editor and sped up the video 4x.. as I have many videos I'd like to share but nobody watches more than a couple minutes of video so this is a way to get more viewing time in the same 1-2 minutes.. Just experimenting with it..
  9. On the etsy forums a couple years back.. there was a shop being sued for a customer that cut themselves opening the box after the mail delivered it... LOL.. You're right... Sue happy world we live in... I do suggest one get at least some sort of a liability insurance if you sell your stuff... even just a minimal policy to help cover cost.. I ever followed up on the topic to see what ever become of it.. seems like it would be thrown out... but then... it could have been the insurance company going after to recover their payout cost.. My daughter several years back got hurt on a quad 4 wheeler at her friends house.. Noting major just a sprain nothing broken etc... The insurance wanted to know all the details and the people names etc where she was hurt etc etc.. looking to see if it was a sue worthy case probably.. So.. it may not always be the person suing.. it could be insurance companies behind it all.. when it comes to liability stuff...
  10. I just passed by three homes this morning ( we have a road closure for a bridge being repaired ) that had their Christmas trees still up and lit when taking my kids to school.. So I guess their are some out there with their trees up still, LOL.. My daughter would be one to do this, LOL ... She gets the decorations out well before Thanksgiving, LOL... and she has some lights that goes around her room that stays up all year... and lights them up about every night..
  11. Very nice work!! I also never thought about painting the bridges.. Great idea... Never forget the first time I seen one of these in a Motortrend? magazine.. I thought they was the coolest car.. at the time Dodge was making several new and unique styles of cars..
  12. Very well worded,
  13. The lights I got with my " purchased" booth was CFL and they was the big ones.. I think maybe 100 watt.. and I think the color temp was 5000.. One of the bulbs burned out and I replaced it with a LED of around 5000 color temp.. which is just a standard size bulb.. I think a 4000 - 5000 color like is probably best.. The 6000 watt seem to give off a blue tint to the lighting and also makes the photos odd looking.. I like the LED because it's instantly on. The CFL's in the colder weather especially.. I'd have to wait several minutes to get the light at it's full brightness... Many times I just need a quick shot to show a customer.. and I hate taking photos to send out to customers that has a bunch of background stuff.. like if I was taking a picture in my house or something.. That just distracts a photo in my opinion..
  14. A FD-UR blade of any size is going to make the job harder when cutting thin stock.. They are great blades for thicker stock but all those teeth that are facing up on the up stroke will make the whole piece try to jump around.. Not saying it cannot be done.. but cutting fragile fretwork on thin stock.. those blades might make a mess of the piece before you even get close to being done.. Which is a good thing.. as I hate breaking a piece on the last cut anyway.. If it's going to break... do it on the very first cut..
  15. Some folks are just way early on their prepping for Christmas I guess...Here is a custom order request for a 92 Camaro ornament.. Sold 5 ornaments today. Kinda weird to still be selling ornaments.. at least as many as I've been selling... I usually have a few after the new year.. and also throughout the year.. but not like it's been this year so far.. Stack cut 10 of these tonight.. Not any finish on this or anything... this is fresh off the saw.. still needs some sanding.. Also cut about 5 new puzzle patterns from Scott... No pictures though.. didn't think about it... LOL
  16. I just wanted to thank everyone for the nice comments..
  17. Denny, do you think the Seyco dust collector vacuum has enough suction that one could put a T manifold type thing on it to make a upper collection added to what they have set up? I'm just curious.. I wonder why Ray never designed it to have a upper collection port.. other than when this came out there was no other type of systems and not much research done..
  18. Very nice set-up I'd like to hear your thoughts on the two additions to your saw after you get some hours on them.. I'm going to need a new magnifier light soon as my original one that I bought 18 years ago is getting worn out.. it won't hold it's position very well no matter how tight I tighten the pinch bolts to hold it.. it still will move on it's own.. I've even took the screw out and made a small piece of sandpaper as to give it some friction to stay put.. helped for a short time.. Also like that dust collection system and have been tempted for about 2 years now to take the plunge to buy that same set up... What's been holding me back from that lately is I read from someone in the know.. that Pegas is working on designing both a dust collection system and a larger table for the saws.. SO.. I've been kinda watching out for this.. Then I might take the plunge for a new saw and dust collection system all at one time.. Edit to add: Where did you get the Magnifier light?
  19. Thanks Denny, I'll have to check it out..
  20. I get a lot of messages regarding how I get my pictures so crisp and white. I purchased a photo shooting booth for my pictures and all of my photos on my website are taken in this very expensive booth. The price of the booth was free other than the gas to take the trip to Michaels to get the box and a purchase of the white poster board backdrop. This is some high tech stuff here and should be considered confidential and only sharing for my friends here on the village. So basically it’s a cardboard box I picked up from Michaels for free about 10 years ago. Some white tissue paper and a poster board for the back drop. The lights are from a previous booth my wife purchase for me on amazon many years ago. That booth was made of cloth and had several back drops. Issue with it was the dust settled on it over the years and there was no easy way to wash it. So getting the free box, cut out the windows in the sides and taping the tissue paper to the box to defuse the light. After the photo shoot I do edit the backgrounds with the free pattern programs. Both Inkscape and gimp work for this. This booth it too small for some projects so I’ve been saving up for another bigger box. Hope to have the money to replace this one soon as this is showing it’s age and the sides are caving outward because I sometimes put a few ornament on the top of the box while doing the photo shoot and it’s not able to handle the weight any longer , and the tissue paper is ripping out because of the fatigue Yeah I Know... You Should See Some Of My Other High Tech Stuff...
  21. I've actually done several of these over the years... This is the first time I've posted this one.. I do a lot of custom orders where I modify the pattern for this type of thing.. I've also sold several as originally designed.. Fun one to cut.. Was a really big hit about 4-5 years ago... only sell a couple a year now..
  22. Sue Mey pattern here.. "other than adding the lower section where the date is placed at and shrinking the size slightly" Cut from Maple with the lower section of the base made of Mahogany and the top part of the base made from Red Oak.. Cut on the Hawk with a #3 Pegas MGT blade..
  23. Many claim the Harbor Freight one is a decent one... I bought all mine from Menards.. which is the same price unless you get a 20 - 25% coupon for Harbor Freight.. Harbor Freight ones have a lens cover lid so it might be safer to have in a shop if you're near a window.. I've heard of people almost starting fires, melting their saw with their magnifier lights.. I kinda like the lid idea... but the way it lifts up I feel like it'd be in the way..
  24. Might be a grey area... BUT...still can cost you legal fees to fight a grey area.. win or loose the case...Am I wrong on that?
  25. Well now that I think about it I do use a template.. My bases for my clocks and other things I made templates for.. Though most are not scroll sawn.. I pretty much cut the bases on the table saw or bandsaw and then use the template to mark the rounded corners.. Typically use the disc sander to get the corners rounded off and then finish smoothing them with the hand sander... and i would do this with silhouette stuff if I was doing a lot of it..
