  1. Thank you all for the help.. always being asked to personalize this and while I've done quite a few.. I always say the font will be different.. Now I don't need to say that anymore.. My go to font is wordart since it doesn't need any bridges..
  2. Wondered if anyone knew what this font is? It is a Steve Good pattern so I can ask him if nobody knows.. just he is a busy man and thought I'd ask here first. Thank you!
  3. Glad to see someone here got that saw... I kept watching it and the wheels was spinning.. I always wanted to try a EX but.. I really don't need another saw.. with the two Hawks and the Dewalt.. Plus I am saving my cash for other things I really could use.. But I almost made an offer on it as well.. I felt the $550 they was asking was high considering for $50 more you can get a new King with the warranty and an option to possibly return it if there was an issue.. Was also watching a new ( old ) Hawk 216 still boxed.. however that guy seem to think he had a $600 - 1000 machine.. While still new in the box.. to me.. I pay a little more and get a new BM series way before I spent that kind of $$ on a 216..
  4. Shrink wrap bags?? Never heard of that.. where do you find those at?
  5. Yes I knew about the Harvesting.. But I also thought it was mentioned that they was having some sort of complications with a part for the saw.. maybe nothing to do with the arm.. just thought it was.. Maybe I am thinking of something else.. I tend to do that with old age.. lol Edited: Okay I looked up the topic to see if I was loosing my mind again, LOL... You said they was having an issue with a part.. but later in that topic you mentioned it was with the table of the saw... so anyway.. I was only loosing half my mind.. as I swore you said there was a problem..
  6. Wasn't the original hold up on the first saw because they had to wait on arms to be made or an issue with the arm? Makes me wonder if the machinist had set up the machine wrong.. sounds like they are real busy people and maybe tired and rushed to get things done.. I suspect this to be somewhat the issue with the first saw.. when they got it back and run test on it.. they found it to be the problem.. Just speculation on my part... but does make one wonder.. Still hard for me to believe the story of damage in shipping on it's side or whatever.. looking at my saw.. it's pretty stout.. I don't see how even dropping it on it's side would do much if any damage LOL.. Either way we all make mistakes and are human.. I'm just glad that Iggy had the patience to wait this out and they got it all taken care of.. ( Hopefully ). Thinking maybe both parties have learned a lesson or two
  7. This is one big reason I like these saws.. You don't have to spend 30 -45 minutes taking off covers etc to trouble shoot a noise or something.. it's all right in plain view.. LOL.. plus.. on a Dewalt.. those covers need to be on in order to run it.. unless you rig something up to hold things in place that is
  8. This is why I say to everyone selling or thinking about selling your crafts online to do it the best legal way you can and know how.. and keep good bookkeeping records.. My cousin is a CPA and works for the state and is actually involved in these investigations... and she says most all states are going after this money from small online sellers.. also really watching how people claim there USE tax for online purchases from out of state.. ( you purchase things online you are supposed to claim those purchases under use tax so the state gets the % of sales taxes from your online purchase as if you purchased it local ) Not sure all states have the USE tax thing though.. Also while she claims they say they can only go back about 5-7 years.. she has personally seen them go after people more years than that.. mainly because there was a lot of $$ involved I believe.. Anyway.. just a heads up to keep excellent records.. Lawmakers Seek Taxes
  9. I haven't been to that store yet.. but did manage to go to their new one that is located in Nashville TN two years ago... was really cool to go and look at all the stuff.. and see a few things I'd seen from the show..
  10. Well.. I guess I do keep track somewhat... If I modify a projects plans I keep that info in the electronic form.. I keep a folder separate from other pattern folders of all the items I cut and sell.. so if someone says they seen X picture online.. I can look in my folder for the pattern.. I also have these backed up on a external hard drive as well as burned onto a disc.. and lastly.. on a zip drive too... after loosing several patterns from a crashing external hard drive... I keep several copies around now As for wood types.. I don't use many different types of wood for the items I sell.. I try to keep the business side of my sawing simple and streamlined
  11. Hoping this is the answers you've been looking for in this long drawn out experience.. Hoping it's going to be the saw that you will learn to love to use and enjoy.. Keep us updated.. Really been contemplating getting one of these myself.. would love to test drive one someday.. but for now.. my 226 ultra is going to have to do for a few years probably.. putting kids through college is killing my wallet, LOL
  12. I used to do that back when I did a lot of variations of projects.. now.. since my business.. I cut on a daily basis and everything is just natural work.. I can pretty much guess right down to within a 3-5 min. time frame as to how long a project is going to take me.. I also stack cut most everything that is possible to stack cut.. Pretty much only use one of two blades.. while I have a huge selection.. always go the the number 3 or 5 and depending on the saw I'm cutting on.. either a FD UR or a Pegas MG.. LOL
  13. Very Nice!! Love it...
  14. I might be sold on some of those ornaments.. depending upon the overall design and size.. while I typically size my own anyway so long as the design will still work in a smaller size.. I put all my ornaments into a small gift box which I believe is 5" tall and just 3.75 wide..
  15. I've enjoyed cutting the couple of puzzles from this pattern Iggy posted a few days ago.. Then I thought.. just because it's a puzzle pattern doesn't mean it has to end up as a puzzle.. If one likes the design of these puzzles.. but puzzles really aren't your thing.. keep in mind.. designs can be modified for various other things.. I made this into a desk clock.. but one could make it as a leash holder, key rack etc etc.. There are a bunch of these wonderful puzzle designs on Iggys web site... I think I will be placing a nice order for several of these patterns in the future.. Can't think of the web site's off the top of my head where these patterns can be bought but I am sure Iggy will post it in a reply shortly.. Thanks Iggy for offering this pattern up for us to try..
  16. First off, Thank you for your service.. I don't know how any scroll sawers can afford to buy your lumber from any box store such as Lowes, Menards and Homedepot.. I'd be checking around for a local sawmill..
  17. I guess I didn't realize the 788's had been around that long.. I started my sawing in 2006... but didn't get my Dewalt until 2009.
  18. i don't know much history on the 788's.. anyone know when they first came out?
  19. Not sure if anyone on here is close enough or would want to go.. They have this every year right around the first part of Sept. They have some good deals on lumber, plywood etc as well as tools.. always someone there demonstrating some sort of woodwork.. Here is a link if anyone might be interested. Wood Expo
  20. Yeah, forgot to mention that in my last post.. That thing never got installed on my saw.. and is always the first thing I remove when I get a new used saw, LOL..
  21. Awesome video.. I do have a question though... Do you sand these? I've never seen you mention sanding them.. Your other video showing your process I don't believe it mentioned anything about sanding the puzzles before or after cutting.. Just curious is all.. I cut out the free rescue pattern the other day.. was quite a fun cut.. I might have to start making these for my business, LOL.. Took me quite a lot longer to cut than what you did here.. Think I had over an hour but hard to say because I was tweaking and playing around with adjustments on my Hawk.. and it is slower than the DeWalt at cutting too.. I assume you use a #3 Mach Olsen blade? I was using a #3 but not sure if I had the FD or Pega blade in it.. using 3/4 poplar.. but most poplar I have cut was real easy too.. but this board was much more dense.. I think the cherry I typically cut is easier going..
  22. Nice work!! Welcome to the village..
  23. Well glad to see they have found the problem and will be helping you get is fixed.. At least changing the lower arm on these is quite straight forward.. not like the dewalt where you have to disassemble the whole saw to get to the link arms, LOL..
  24. Thank you for the nice comments..,,
  25. Very nice work.. not to mention he is making some extra cash too! I have put my kids to work a few times at the saw.. they don't seem to have much interest in it yet I guess.. just as I did.. my father scroll sawed.. and he tried to get me interested in it.. while I liked the things he made.. I was too busy building show cars and racing at the drag strip.. wasn't until I was 38 years old before i dug out dads old saw after he passed on.. sure do wish I'd have learned some of his tricks to the trade before he passed on but as a young boy.. my interest was cars, going fast, and cute girls...LOL
