  1. I tried using our cat for that but he just gets mad and runs off. Just kidding. Good job, make sure and show us after you get it painted.
  2. Promised my Grandma that I'd make another cross for her. She already has one but wanted to give one to her church. The other is for one of my many cousins that wanted one. I don't do these very often, but when I do it's usually do 2 at a time by stacking. These are almost done, couple more coats of clear to go. The crosses are 1/8 birch ply with a darker stain and the figures are 1/4 inch 5 ply birch just cleared. Once I get these done I can start on my Haloween Skeletons . I'll see if I can get these plans into the gallery. Ken
  3. Looks fine to me. The first one I ever tackled was a tiger face. Very detailed but the stripes were really wavy but it didn't really matter if I zigged instead of zagged cause next to all the other ones you could never tell. I never would have looked for a whoops if you wouldn't have told me where to look. Ken
  4. Thanks all. Kevin, you want sound, here you go. With a little whoops at the end. Not sure on the weight, at least 15 lbs, probably closer to 17. I got it as a set of plans from a friend. Had to go to Kinkos to make it bigger to fit the class it's raced in. This one doesn't drive like my others, it hops and skips in the turns, pretty fun.
  5. Thanks for the replies. Marg, my wife always says "all you take pictures of is boats!" No not really... well maybe.. Most of them were the same boat, there was a couple random ones of the other 2. David, yes the Lab is always out there. Usually have to stop the scroll saw and go play frisbee. Hard to concentrate when that cold nose nudges your elbow! Usually add a half hour or 45 min to anything I do out there. One of the first pictures there was after she got ahold of the driver and tried to take off his head. Cutting out the pieces was the easy part of the whole project, gluing the top down was a pain! There's nothing flat to clamp to, it was all curved. Won't be doing another one of those for quite some time.
  6. I also got one from Harbor freight. It's got a 1 in belt and a 5 in disk. Small and easy to move around. There are a lot nicer ones out there but as little as I use it I'm satisfied. If you're going to use it a lot I'd get a better brand though. Ken
  7. Well here is my first post. Not my first project though. This is what happens when you have 2 hobbies that feed off each other. This is my 55 inch replica of the original 1959 Miss Spokane Hydroplane. It's interesting cutting pieces up to 55 inches long on a 16 inch scroll saw! I was pretty proud of this one and took a lot of pictures. So if this works, click slideshow and sit back and Ken http://s336.photobucket.com/albums/n347 ... underboat/
  8. Thanks Brett, Yes I'll try to put the pics of my latest one in the Bragging rights section. All 3 of the ones I have were from sets of plans that I cut out on the scroll saw (Mostly) Ken
  9. Just wanted to say hello. I've been doing scroll saw work for probably 15 years. Most of the stuff I do I give away as presents, (don't we all). One of my other hobbies is racing model boats and that brings me back to the scroll saw because I build my own boats. Kinda fun to see your scroll saw project go zooming across the lake. Hope to meet some new people on here and learn some new things. Always up for something new. Thanks Ken
