  1. Thanks Brian, I picked up a book of X-mas ornaments at my local Woodcraft store. There's a ton of patters in there, 300 I think.
  2. Can't believe the spokes didn't break. I stack cut 3 at a time. Whew!
  3. Got a X-mas ornament book at Woodcraft a couple months ago. A few people at work wanted some things, mostly snowflakes. I did a few others also. My wife did all the Snowmen and Santas, she did a great job for a newbie. http://s336.photobucket.com/albums/n347 ... ornaments/
  4. I just went to Lowes and picked up a sheet of 1/8 in birch plywood. It was $12. Can cut some really small things and it seems to hold together great.
  5. I decided to do some Haloween decorations and sell them at work again. Went over pretty well last year. Thanks to Travis and Shadylady for the patterns. They turned out well. I painted the RIP candleholders with stone looking paint instead of orange, I like it better. It's rough to the touch like stone too. I also did a couple X-mas decorations for a co-worker. She wanted an elf for each of her grandsons and an angel for her granddaughter with names. The names were tough but look really good. She was very happy. Ken
  6. Here are the final pictures. My work is done. It finished at 55 1/2 inches long and 24 1/4 in wide. The rest (installing real motor and hardware) is up to the new owner. I hate to let this one go, I really like it. Definitley going in my scrapbook. I'll post a video of it running when it's completed. Thanks for all the replies, it's been a fun build. Ken
  7. Great job! That's got to be one of the coolest bowls I've ever seen.
  8. I use whatever car wax I have available too. Scroll saw doesn't need it as much as the tablesaw though.
  9. Sure did! Just doing some ornaments. Need to get my other projects done first, how I end up with so many I don't know.
  10. Good job on the Fairy, looks great.
  11. I find that I get more done in the winter than summer. I go in spurts though. Too much other stuff going on, boat racing, yard work, working on the big boat, etc... I usually get about an hour and a half a night if all goes well. The dog thinks I need to take lots of frisbee breaks when I'm out there though.
  12. So here is everything finished. Took a while to decide what to do with the crosses but I like the way they turned out. There is a second Last Supper, exactly the same. Whew! Glad that's done. On to the next project!.
  13. No heat or ac for me. In the summer I usually only work in the evenings. In the winter.... I only go out there if I have to. Hard to work when you look like you're going on a trip to the arctic.
  14. I always have problems taking pictures and getting good lighting too. Looks good by the way. Keep it up.
  15. Nevermind! Mines a different model! I would see if you can power one up and let it run before you buy it though.
  16. Red, I believe I have the same saw, though I'll have to check to make sure. Mine has developed a loud rattle where the blade tension knob is. They come with a piece of foam wedged in there but it still rattles. It cuts fine but you might want to invest in some headphones.
  17. I love this site!!!Painters tape, never would have thought of that! Thanks guys! (and gals)
  18. Sometimes. Getting away from it more and more. Learned the spray on glue trick here on the Village! I didn't want to screw this one up as I'm not perfect with the spray glue yet. Sometimes too much, sometimes not enough and it starts to come off halfway through. I did it on the crosses though.
  19. My Grandma will be 97 this year and we have a big party for her every year. Lots of people there (32 of us grandkids alone!) I usually do a couple things to auction or raffle off. All the money goes to Grandma. This year I did some smaller crosses, about 8-10 inches tall that will probably get raffled. I am about to start on a "Last Supper" picture. Can't wait to see the reactions this year.
  20. Great job, I've always thought about entering a few projects at the fair.
  21. Thanks everyone. The reindeer were in pretty sad shape. Most of the antlers were totally missing. Only 2 had at least a half an antler left for me to look at. Someone had cut out some paper ones and taped them on and it looked terrible. A lot better now.
  22. Been working on a few things. Fixed a set of reindeer for a coworker. All the antlers were broken off. It was bought by his dad back in '57 I guess so he didn't want to throw it out. Then I found a couple new patterns for crosses, only have pictures of one. And a little electric lantern pattern I found that's really cute. The crosses and lanterns will be for my grandmas 98th birthday, where they'll get auctioned and raffled off. Just staying busy, too crummy outside to do much.
  23. I found this pattern for "Rattlin Bones" in a scroll saw magasine a few years back. Dug it out again this year. Already sold 4 at work. Just made them out of some old scrap oak ply. Makes the bones look old when you paint it. My favorite is the flame head. Ken
  24. Most of the time I give things away. Christmas and birthdays. I always do a few things for my grandmas birthday every year. There's a big raffle and auction, and all the money goes to grandma so I go all out for that. Past couple years I did some things for our company banquet. She really rushed me last year so I don't know if I'll do much this year. I have so many things going on, too many hobbies. Ken
  25. Great job Marshall, I've thought about entering the fair before but never have. Now you have to make something to display all your blue ribbons! Ken
