Thanks Denny, it would shorten it slightly but I personally think it's too long anyway. I think I'm going to try it tonight before I spend $$. What's the worst that can happen, I break it? haha.

My Dewalt DW788 air nozzle is cracked right where it snaps onto the saw. So it isn't tight and just kinda flops about. I am here at work and was about to order a new nozzle but started thinking... Can I just remove the broken section on the end of the hose and snap the next section onto the saw? Is it the same size?

This one went pretty well. It was supposed to be anonymous as to who you got it from but everybody there knows my work. Our receptionist got it and she was super happy. I've done t a few times and its usually pretty good. I got a cool snowman to put in the Christmas village setup at home and way too much chocolate. haha. One of the guys got a clear glass ball and filled it with his custom spice mix he uses for grilling. That was pretty cool.

I use a cheap digital kitchen scale for measuring out different resins for my composite work. I use Epoxy, Polyester, Vinylester, basically anything I can get my hands on. Epoxies are generally not as "Smelly" as the polyesters so if you are sensitive to stuff like that it a much better option. I prefer the liquid dye as I have found it's easier to use but both the dye and powder work well. You don't usually need much to get the color you want. Make sure that whatever you use is at room temp, not cold because it won't flow well and the bubbles (if any) will not rise very fast. Longer curing epoxy would be better to get bubbles out for sure.

Good job Kevin! Looks great.

Thanks! I need 3 clones of myself to get half of my list done. Building a new shop this spring, so I'll be able to get a lot more accomplished after that.

These were for some people at work so I don't do anything with them. They all plan on painting them up. The snowflakes I kept that I posted the other day were sprayed with white paint and then glitter spray. They look really cool.

Thanks! Now that I have the saw back in the basement for the winter I can do a little more work.

Here was all the orders I did for people at work. I always stack cut 3 at a time. I'm good til next year. The Fox and Raven was just me messing around. I adjusted the slot after I took these pictures to make the Santas and Snowmen line up properly. The pattern was off a little.

Thanks everyone! I made the mistake of taking some to work and showed them off. Looks like I'll be doing some more. haha! I'd much rather sit in the basement with the headphones on and be warm than be in the garage working on other things and freeze my toes off.

It's been a while since I've posted anything. Needed some more ornaments for the tree this year plus I thought I'd give some as presents instead of shopping. Made one for the ornament exchange at work and a couple to just give away to friends. Shot them with some white paint and then glitter paint.

Another watch what your doing on a table saw thread
Ken O replied to Oldmansbike's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I've told my wife that if you see me running a saw, anything from the table saw to the scroll saw. Just stand off to the side where I can see you. As soon as I'm done I'll shut down and we can talk. Don't turn lights off, don't yell, and for god sakes don't come up and touch me! If I'm concentrating and you startle me that's worse than anything. -
I need to get a picture of the scrap piece that's left. I'm 95% sure it's Paduk, not Lacewood. The piece is deceiving because there isn't much top grain to look at and the end grain looks exactly like the bottom 2 pictures in my example here of Paduk with the little holes/dots in the endgrain. BUT I am NOT an expert on some of these more exotic hardwoods so you may be correct. I am curious but it doesn't really matter, I'm happy with it, she loves it and it came out great other than the oops on the back that nobody needs to know about. hehe

Thanks everyone! I think it's Paduk. It went over very well. She asked if I made it and I said "Yep, last night!"

I participated in the ornament exchange at work. Last minute thing for me this year. So I knocked this out last night. The lady its for likes gothic style stuff so I picked a picture off the internet and went to town. I'm not sure what wood this is. It's an orange/red color and pretty hard. About 3/4 inch thick, 6.5 inches long x 4 inches wide. Turned out good. Been a while since I've been on the saw, other projects are taking all my time. No clear, no stain, just a light sanding with 320 on the top and bottom.

Well, just so you "Thin blooded" people know. We don't typically get snow this early. But I grew up in NW Montana so it's not that big of an inconvenience except for the cleanup work. It was a really weird front that moved in that night. It only hit about 1/3 of the city. Other places woke up the next morning and hardly had even any rain at all and were wondering what all the fuss was about. I called a couple buddies, my cousin and the neighbor brought his big trailer and we got it all cleaned up on saturday in a couple hours. There are a few pieces I saved for a co-worker that does bowls. Other than that I wasn't too concerned. The larger pieces were too heavy to move around so we cut it all up.

I think the shed is actually ok. I'm more disapointed that those Maples are gone. They were nice shade trees. Oh well. Neighbors insurance should take care of it. They were all his trees.
-
I can't find it any more after 3 maple trees fell last night under the heavy snow we had!! Honestly looks like it's ok, fence is gone but shed looks like it might be ok. Was a heck of a racket, shook the house. The snow will melt today so I'll check it out when I get home. Good thing I wasn't working in there when it happened, I'd still be stuck!

Feels good to have a success when trying something new, good job. I usually only do 3 at a time cause I've had the middle one wander on me slightly. Hard for me to get them taped together tight enough sometimes. I use both #3 and #5 Pegas too. I like them.
-
Thanks everyone. They are fun to do and every one is different.

My dad found some old rough cut cedar planks at an estate sale a couple years ago. He gave me an idea and I expanded on it a little bit. I went online and found a bunch of horse silhouette in different poses, cut them out and stained them different colors to make a small herd. I also used a smaller piece of walnut I found lying around and thought it would be cool to try too. They turned out pretty good. I kept the smaller walnut one. I have a similar idea for some old grey barn wood and a stagecoach.

As far as I can tell yes. No residue. The only thing I noticed was if you set up a pattern and then let it sit for a few weeks before cutting it wanted to peel off on its own. Bit if you do it as you need it, no problem.
-
I use cheapo dollar store masking tape, then spray adhesive to hold the pattern to the tape. Cheap masking tape peels right off, no issues.
