  1. Thanks to Birchbark for converting this picture for me. I plan on presenting these to our model boat club to see if they want to use them for our championship trophies at the end of the year. I think they turned out pretty well.
  2. Thanks Russell, I think that will work. A lot more detail than I need but I think I can work with it. Ken
  3. Thanks, I might just try to trace it out on a glass table we have at home.
  4. I want to make some trophies for our model boat club. I really like this picture and was thinking of an outline with just the boat, the water beneath it and the roostertail. Something similar to the second picture. I'll make it out of thicker wood so they stand up on their own. Can someone help me out? Thanks Ken
  5. Looks good! Glad I'm not the only one that makes the holes for the clock face too big. I've had to do the same thing a couple times before.
  6. I actually have to admit I can't take credit for all of those. I did the girl on the dock, my wife did the cross and the plaque. Then she did the painting of the sunset behind one of the girls. She's only been doing this for about a year and is getting pretty good. Thanks everyone. Yes, for 100 years old she is doing very well. Still living by herself and still sharp.
  7. Grandmas 100th birthday is coming up this Friday and I got a few things done. Those of us crafty members of the family usually make a few things that we raffle off and then pick a few of the nicer ones to Auction off. Usually make about $1000 and it all goes to Grandma. It's a BIG family, she had 11 kids, 35 of us grandkids and I just quit counting after that! I have 2 of the girls, and 2 each of the plaques and crosses.
  8. Wow, just when I thought I'd heard it all.... "Done to a turn" isn't nearly as good as what you guys came up with.
  9. Hope everything goes well in the move Travis. Nothing is like MT, (I know, I grew up in Columbia Falls), but Portland isn't too bad. Right now the big thing is that you're able to keep your job, support your family and still be on Scroll Saw Village with US!
  10. Good job, I like it. I might use that idea and make something for my wife as she is a jigsaw puzzle junkie.

    SNOW

Had to shovel the driveway the last 3 days in a row. My next house will have a flat driveway as this one I just plant my feet and move my arms to shovel the snow. Then walk back to the top, plant my feet and slide back down again. Look like a windmill by the time I hit the bottom as I pick up speed.......Yep, lots of fun...haha ken

    Not Happy

I feel your pain too. I think we've all been there at one time or another. I was almost done with an Easter Cross a couple years ago. The last thing I was doing was the face of Jesus. The next thing I knew his whole face broke off and flew through the air! First thing I did was look up and say "Sorry!!"
  13. I do all my x-mas ornaments this way. Then you can lower the price a little because you have 3 to sell. I tried doing 4 but I had to slow down a lot because of the thickness. I do almost everything stack cutting now. I even did Elvis triplets one time. Ken
  14. We made one when I was a kid. It was a rifle shape and somehow the final version shot steel tipped throwing darts.........Not exactly sure how we got to that point but it was fun! Couple of NW Montana boys. Haha. Thanks Cody, those are cool.
  15. Haha!, I know, the boats are an addiction. I already did a pile of Halloween decorations I sold at work. It's not just me though, got the wife a saw and she's been busy too. She did about a third of what we got done.
  16. Already did a whole box of ornaments (over 100) and I'm already burned out on X-mas stuff. So I started a new boat project.
  17. It depends on the dog. 1/2 hour to 45 min is about all she can stand before flopping the Frisbee in my lap. We go play for 10 min or until she quits on me, then that gives me another 1/2 hour or so before she comes around again. Works out well. Haha.
  18. Good tip Kevin! I never thought of that. I learn new cool stuff here on SSV all the time.
  19. Found a good deal on this saw on Craigs list. It's hardly been used. Was $150 but the blower tube was broken off and the table had a lot of rust on it so I got them down to $120 with the stand. I sanded the table down and cleaned it up then replaced the blower tube with an aluminum tube I bent to the right shape. Works great. My wife wanted a scroll saw for her birthday so this is the one she picked out. Not a bad deal at all.
  20. Welcome Bud! This is a great site with lots of great people that will help you out with any questions you have. I have the same thing at work, everyone comes to me with "You're a wood guy......." HA! I've been scrolling for 15 years before I came here and learn something new here all the time. Ken
  21. Ok, It's finally done! The paint started peeling on me, so I had to repaint the whole thing, then the decals took forever. Finally got the fake engine done this evening, made it from scratch by looking at the other one I have. Then painted and installed it. Hope I can get it to run as good as it looks. I've had it out 4 times now and blown over backwards twice because it runs very, very light in the front. Had to put a bunch of weight in the nose, to keep it dry side up. We'll see how that works this weekend.
  22. Chucked a blade in the roto zip this evening. I know I got it good and tight. When I turned it on, it bent, flew out and hit me square in the face. Took about 2 milliseconds! Luck was with me though as I had just put my dust mask on. You can see where it hit "AOSAFETY". Every once in a while these tools make you remember who is really in charge. I put it all down and went in the house, done for the evening.
  23. tvman, it is actually my uncles tractor. I got a picture, posted it in the pattern section and Don made the pattern for me.
  24. I was thinking that I could use some of the old grey barn wood I have out back. Should look pretty good. Make it look old.
  25. Thanks to Don R for the tractor pattern, it came out pretty good. Size is about 11x15 inches. I stacked 2 and will give one to my uncle who re-painted my model boat for me (who actually owns this tractor) and the other I'll give to the family raffle at Grandmas 99th birthday on saturday.
