  1. Welcome Tom from another Michigander. I have the same issues with putting a finish on wood. I have to leave the shop until it cures. I turn on my fan and let it help clear the air. Then I will go have a cuppa and by then it is fairly safe to return.
  2. Would it not be worthwhile to build your own stand for your Hegner? You could build it for whatever height is good for you. This is the one my husband built for me including a tilt table top.
  3. Welcome to the Village Hendy. Great group of people here. Always willing to help. Check out our Pattern section and if you have any questions ask away.
  4. Hubby made the table for me. He measured my saw's base to make sure it was the correct size and he bolted the saw to the table. I have 4 different height adjustments. It sure helps with my ability to see what I'm cutting and I don't have to bend over to see what I am doing. Of course a LED shop light directly over the saw helps also.
  5. Awesome toys to be cherished. Might I suggest you write the date on the bottom of each toy for future reference.
  6. I am putting paneling on the walls to cover the insulation, Then I will put some pegboard up in two different areas. We are putting shelves (stud to stud) to flat set my scrolling wood on. I don't want it standing on end as it will warp. I'm afraid plywood is just too expensive right now to use on the walls. I appreciate all the suggestions. Thanks.
  7. Thanks everybody, I have been saving up for this shed for a while. It is Amish built as a garden shed and Hubby is converting it to my She Shed. He is doing all the re-studding, wiring, insulation, flooring, paneling and ceiling. It is 10x16 so it is easy to heat. Just big enough for my two hobbies. We will paint it to match the house and other outbuildings.
  8. Scroll sawing area. My new she shed where I will be doing all my scrolling. Still need to put up (buy) the wall paneling and ceiling tiles. Half of the shop is for Scrolling and the other half I will be doing my Stained Glass. Oh! and a spot for Sadie............................Hubby made me a new stand for my saw and it works like a charm. Currently bidding on a Craftsman's work station, my desk is buried in the barn (will get in the spring). Will put up shelves after the paneling in up. All other furniture and cabinets will go in the shop in the spring. Did do a test cut to try out the new saw stand......................game changer. I can see so much better with the saw tipped. Should have done it long ago. We put in 3 LED shop lights (Menards). Very bright. Still need to find a good propane wall heater and bring my hot pot in for when I want a cup of tea. Also will be putting running water in come spring time...................Looks like we will be really busy this spring....lol
  9. I agree with Merlin, I love the snowflakes. Perhaps we should take a vote next year..............................Merry Christmas!
  10. Morning Pop Moon, Welcome to the group. Here in Michigan LL Lumber is a favorite. Several of our members buy their wood online. I have even bought my thin wood from Amazon for making ornaments. Menards has a small section dedicated to *hobby wood*. A bit pricey in my opinion but..................
  11. Very cute.
  12. Since I am a multi-medium crafter not all my ornaments this year are scrollsaw. Most of these have been mailed out to my ornament swapping friends.
  13. Thank you to all our members who contributed to the Ornaments for Charity this year. A great selection of Ornaments. Also Thank you to Roly for his beautiful ornaments. Better late than never.......................:). Of course a great big Thank You to Travis for organizing this every year. God Bless you all. Chelcass
  14. Happy Thanksgiving one and all.
  15. Travis Cook did one of a hen and rooster key holder that would be easy to make into a wall clock. In the Pattern library Bobscroll did a pattern of a Rooster, you could adapt that.
  16. I don't have a way to mill my own boards. Am getting a planer in May for hubby's birthday so I can use some of the wood from the Amish and plane myself. don't use a lot of wood as I don't scroll that much with my eyesight being as bad as it is. Can't see the darn lines
  17. Hubby and I went to Charlotte Dollar tree and happened to drive right past LL Johnson. Welllllll of course we had to stop. Below is everything I bought along with the prices to give you an idea of the *speciality* wood prices here.
  18. Hi Mike, Another Michigander here. Central Mi., Six Lakes. Welcome to the group. Great bunch of people here. Always willing to help a person out with any questions they Might have. Got some great patterns in the pattern library. I currently use a Craftsman I have had for several years also have a Hegner I have yet to use and a third my hubby uses. Can never have too many saws............LOL
  19. I have 3 saws, a craftsmans that just keeps on going that is my go to saw in my craft room, a hegner which is in my work shop in our barn and the third one hubby has in his workshop for whenever he needs a little something cut, instead of bringing it to me to cut.....................lol
  20. Had a friend who worked with propane tanks, Did all the required precautions and the tank still blew up and killed him. I saw that these little tanks cut into jack o lanterns are available at Home Depot.

  23. Hey Kevin, We were wondering where you were. Looks like you have been really busy. Pop in every once in a while if you can so we know you are ok.
  24. Thanks everybody, I will have hubby read all your suggestions and he can decide which planer will work for him. I think he plans to do most of his planing outside as his shop is quite small. Again Thanks so much for your help.
