Glad you did well with your ornaments. Can you post a picture of the heart one? thanks Don

To clear thing up. The web site is no longer active. You have to get the patterns from Winfield collections as stated above. They only send the patterns via mail and it is really expensive to get especially in Canada. PITA Diana never published birdhouses in Scroll Saw Magazine. Did lots of other compound patterns but not birdhouses. The original birdhouses were published in Creative Woodworking and Crafts. Originally in May 2001 issue 156 and then a few more in November 2022 issue 160. I bought both books from eBay even though I had the patterns from her web site.

My ornaments for the Ornaments for Charity 2023
don in brooklin on posted a topic in Bragging Rights
Before I submit my ornaments I always cut and make any modifications needed. Here are my entries for this year book. Check out the latest version as there are lots of neat ornaments. Thanks to Travis for all his hard work. This is Merry Christmas from Steve Goods "Fred" I stacked cut Joy to the World and when I did it I got an ornament with a backer and a free standing, -
I have had a Porter Cable and a Mouse and hardly ever used. Gave Porter Cable away, What I use on nearly every project is my KIingspor MacMop. expensive but they last a long time. Removes fuzzies but I also does a great job rounding over.

Welcome from Canada. Ask the Village for any help. We love to see pictures of projects. I had to look up where Oamaru was I think that we may have driven through your town many many years ago. After a working honeymoon (55 years ago) on our way back from Australia, we flew to Christ Church and drove to Mount Cook and then Queenston and then made our way over the coast somehow. No idea of the route from there. It is the most beautiful country.

Was asked to come up with a gift for fund raiser prize for grandson's baseball team. (I have given enough chactuterie boards). Have done these before for all sorts of sports and probably this team too but it has been a few years. Hopefully will raise a few bucks.

I am a old Microsoft user from way back. When I was working we bought a company that all the sales guys used Apple and they didn't want to change. My tech guys comment at the time was "Real men don't use mice". With them him being busy I went and bought the Macs - hooked them all together with the printer and it was instant network. I then sent my Tech guy to learn all about Mac and he converted the whole office. Now I can't do without a mouse. Good luck. I hope they can get it fixed.

This not first time someone has asked me about this for MAC On your Mac, do any of the following: In the Font Book app , choose File > Add Fonts to Current User. ... Drag the font file to the Font Book app icon in the Dock. Drag the font file to the Font Book window. Double-click the font file in the Finder, then click Install in the dialogue that appears.

Good Morning If you are using Windows 10. Use file explorer to find font. Right click on the TTF or the OTF. Then click for all users. Should be there in Inkscape when you reopen. With Windows 11. Double click on ttf and you should see the font. Click on Install and good to go. Or if you right click on font you should see only install only. If you are using a MAC you are on your own. I think there are videos on this as it is more than one step. For script fonts the are cutable. Here is one I use. If this does not work let me know. Scroll_scriptmt.ttf

Barb I just order some popular from KPJ hardwoods and it is great. It is 9 1/4 by 3/4 is 5.25 LF. My local supplier is 6.45 LF. You have to pay for shipping but I was ordering some BB so it wasn't too bad. I had a stacking frog puzzle that I dyed with water base stain and the pieces would not go back together. I wait about 3 week and it is all good. I use the popular and dyed it with water based stain and it was good dry in about a day. I would show the piece but I copied a laser product. PS: I like the juke box and the colours.

help with buying a scroll saw
don in brooklin on replied to jeffpoo's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I have an original EX-21 that was made in Taiwan. Now about 12 years old and used practically every day and is as good as the day I bought it. The only thing I did was replace the blade holder with Pegas blade holders. I think all the bad press on the Excalibur came when the manufacturing was moved to China. The original design is now sold under the King Industrial name. Not as expensive as the Pegas (In Canada about $200 cheaper). I hear good thing about it. What ever you decide on get a foot switch if not included in the package. I have the dead man one from Harbor Freight. -
I Know - I Know.... Repeat Subject.... Blades.... :+}
don in brooklin on replied to danny's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I just looked and the gross is still $3.20 per doz. The 1 - 5 is $4.21 which I think is up. My go to blade is the FDUR#1. I have tried and the MGTs and they are little more aggressive and I don't think they are as smooth on interior cuts. -
I hope this is okay. Any problems please let me know. The pdf has both ornaments personalizes so you can resize if you want. sewing ornaments.pdf

I am doing a puzzle of tree of life and when I pulled off the pattern the middle of the "s' was missing. I took to my wife and asked if anything wrong. She said that the title was wrong. Should not have the apostrophe. You only do that if possessive ie The Lord's house. I asked it she noticed the s and she said " o yah " but she would not worry about it if I can fill in the '. Needless to say I scrolled it again with a different font as the s really bugged me. Moral of the story have the boss proof your patterns.

This is a great video by Travis. I have watched many times. Note if you are using Inkscape 1.3 - there is a difference in changing from text to a path. Previously it was object to path, ungroup and then union. Now when you go object to path you have a single path. That is great in most situations but if you ever want to modify a single character (like moving the dot on an i down) and need to get to a that character you now have to use the command split path and that will make each character a separate path. (in my example of the i you have to spilt path again) and then union all the characters. Also, the dynamic offset work a little differently. You click on dynamic offset on the path and nothing seems to happen. with 1.3 you have to click the dynamic offset then click off the path and then click on it again and the little diamond then appears. I don't do that as is click on the path and then path effects. Hit the + sign and find the offset effect. I usually use inches .125. I hope I haven't confused you but if you have any questions please let me know. I am finding a number of slight differences in version 1.3 but they are all good so far.

What are you expecting to happen. Control & brings up path effects menu ??? Control - does difference when you have 2 paths selected

Strike 2 for horrible online wood
don in brooklin on replied to jimmyG's topic in General Scroll Sawing
Hi Pete I just ordered 1/4 BB from KJP Hardwoods in your neck of the woods. I got B/BB Baltic Birch cheaper than buying a whole sheet or BB/BB here. Came the next day. -
This is an early Steve Good pattern. He used Stencil font A better alternative is Stencil 2 font or Scroll Beach Beach Italic The only Bridge required is the R. See below. First line is Stencil and second is Stencil 2 last is Scroll Beach Italic If you have questions please post and I am sure some one will have a good alternative.

Index to Old Creative Woodworks & Crafts Magazine
don in brooklin on replied to raymondb's topic in General Scroll Sawing
This is the index that I got from Karl one of the members here I think. It is not complete but pretty close. I have only limited number of issues but I will look for oval basket. Creative Woodworks Index-3.xlsx -
Here is another idea. I can change the name easily. Depending on the length of name maybe able to go inside circle.
