  1. The discs where suggested by Gayle over at scroller cafe. Gives it a "woodsy" look plus easy as I was in a rush.
  2. Inspired by Steve Good
  3. Programming note: If anyone has downloaded the PDF, it was created with Inkscape 1.2 using multipage option. It opens just fine in Acrobat but if you want to modify I have found that when I open it I get a grey desktop. I found that if you open new document and then import the PDF it gives you a clean SVG to modify. (you can delete blank page and the instructions with the page option- the bottom of the left tool bar)
  4. Attached is the PDF with instructions that I did for someone on another forum. If you have any questions please let me know. New spring gnome.pdf
  5. I use DecoArt® Snow Writer Paint. I get at Michaels Really fun stuff. I find it better to paint white under it.
  6. Love it - Very cute. I can see an Argo Gnome in the works. (We are currently undefeated too.) (Spoke too soon got trounced last night)
  7. Inspired by Steve Goods Welcome to my garden Gnome. I do not have much of a Garden and I wanted to add mushroom. I also made a little larger than Steve's to fit the piece of outdoor plywood. I got a bunch of cutoffs from a shed company. The pattern for this is located at https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/46473-inkscape-12/ I enlarged with Acrobat 110% to 10 1/2 x 13 1/2 high.
  8. Love the front side and how you accented the colours. Looks fantastic. Now you tell me about the material. LOL I just received from KPJ the sample pack plus 4 sheets of white oak and have no idea what I am going to do with them. This does give me ideas.
  9. Even though I get SSW magazine I bought the set from Sue Mey directly at https://scrollsawartist.com/compound-cut-lighthouses/
  10. Funny you should mention that. I am going to make a set for my daughter and these fit a stemmed glass for white wine but my daughter drinks red. For a pop can the circle is 2 5/8 but the red wine glass 2 3/4 tapering out to 3 inches. I am going to cut the inside on an angle to see if it fits better. Keep you posted.
  11. At our club a couple of wood turners started to turn Soda Can Covers. They are to protect getting in bugs and wasps when outdoors or woodchips in the workshop. They started out fairly plain but they got fancier and fancier. One was even in the shape of a bowler hat and one as a poop emoji. Works for beer cans too. Then the scroller has to get involved and take it to the next level that only a scroller can to with personalized covers. Made from Maple with a died birch veneer as a backer and baked FIMO clay for the initials.
  12. From the Daddy Do-List Hi Dad, Is there a chance you could make me any of the animals attached so I have a place for my glasses at night? My Version
  13. This was a gag gift from the guy who just loves chocolate chip cookies. My wife makes the best. Made with Cherry 14 x2 filled on front with Sculpey clay
  14. I share your pain. Our local supplier in Oshawa charges 66.40 for the 5 x 5. sheet. I did not get any knot holes but I have seen a lot more of the oval discs both front and back. Next time I am going to consider buying from KPJ Hardwoods. About the same and it will be broken down ( 12 x 20 sheets are 4.46 which is equivalent to what I pay now). PS: Last time I ordered the craft MDF from KPJ. I order on a Friday morning and it was delivered on the Monday before 8.
  15. Fantastic job. I saw Don Williams perform may moons ago and he just sat on a rocking chair and sang one song after another. I just don't want to show to my wife as Don Williams is one her absolute favorites. Thanks for posting
  16. Pete: I like the smaller size too. It is great to see the finished cutting. Bagerboy send me a PM with the words you want. I have a template to do 4 x 12.
  17. That is gorgeous. Very delicate.
  18. That is Decoart Snow Writer. Got at local Michael's. Recommended by a member. All my gnomes will get new beards.
  19. Spring is coming soon.
  20. Thanks for all your input. When I did lessons before I used to have a whole section of squiggles and waves but I found that students got bored quickly (they are woodworkers ya know). I will remove the snow flake (thanks Sycamore67) and replace with a simple fish. I am also going to replace the teddy bear key chain too. Thanks Denny for the idea about Scroll Saw Workbook. I was able to get the ebook from our library and his ideas are really great. I haven't read completely but there are some great patterns especially for the follow up sessions. As Ray and Katie discussed it is nice to have a take home to say to the significant other "Hey honey- Look what I did - I need another tool". I may do the cell phone stand from Steve Good with an easy pattern in the middle or a simple puzzle. Thanks PS: I just need the mask mandate to be eased in Ontario so we can schedule the sessions. I did a survey for interest and so far 8 for never scrolled and then 8 that want refresher and then lots of interest in other topics like bowls, puzzles etc. I probably will do weekly session from now to Christmas.
  21. I have volunteered to do a series of sessions on scrolling. With the members who have never scrolled - I first discuss the basics of patterns, blades and basic techniques and then get into cutting techniques. I have the basic template below which does all the corners etc. They will get 2 key chains (cat and bear). 1. I would appreciate any comments on the template. 2. Then - I need a basic project to do that would be a good take home project. I tried to do a keychains with their name and it was too difficult for some of the students. Probably have about 1/2 hour or so to devote to section. I will glue up some extra small stuff for the real keeners. (Always happens) Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  22. They both worked for me. Here is a shortened version https://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/catalogsearch/result/?q='saw+woodworking++crafts+archive+cd+scroll'
  23. There is only one magazine for scrollers that I know of. Scrollsaw Woodworking and Crafts. https://scrollsawer.com/ Also, you can get issues 1 - 72 on CD. Worth it as patterns can be accessed by computer versus scan and print. https://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?_q=croll+Saw+Woodworking+%26+Crafts+Archive+CD&f=scroll+saw+woodworking+%26+crafts+archive+cd&q=scroll+saw+woodworking++crafts+archive+cd There used to be Creative Woodworks and Crafts. Long gone but you can sometimes pick up old issues on Etsy and eBay.
  24. Congratulations Frank. Where did you buy it from? I did a talk at the club on all the various scroll saws available and here is the page I did on the Pegas. The best of the best.
  25. Really cool. What size clock insert to you use? Do you have a source (cheap).? Thanks
